Car Wash August 3rd

​We have secured the date and  locations for the make-up carwash, AKA Car Wash Take 2.  This will be Saturday August 3rd 11:15-2:15 at the following locations:
  • Advanced Auto on Dogwood
  • First Apostolic Church on HWY 90
  • Milton Carpet on Glover Lane (Replacement for Ollie's)
  • Milton High School Anchor Lot
All students that originally signed up for the afternoon shifts of the car wash are required to participate.  We will work with any individuals who have pre-planned events on that date.  Please see us about this.  Students who signed up for Ollie's will now be at Milton Carpet on Glover Lane. Morning shifters are welcome to participate as well.

We do need parent chaperones.  I have created volunteer opportunities for that day.  Please find and sign-up using CutTime on the events for August 3rd.

Hello All,

Band Camp - Great job to all for the first week of camp.  Only 3.5 days left and a performance! Keep up the great work! We are hoping to have Part 2 at any moment this week.  This Thursday, we will go 8am-Noon.  Please make sure you schedule accordingly.

Band Camp Dinner - Band camp week 2 is here. If you would like to add money to your students Band camp café account for dinner, Ms. Wires will be in the Band room on Monday starting at noon to take payments. Cash , checks made out to MHSBPA, or credit/debit will be accepted. All money that is left over at the end of the week will be transferred over into the students individual Band account with Mr. Schultz. Ms Wires will send out invoices at the end of the week with your students balance. Any questions please reach out to her at 850-910-5636.

Wednesday Dinner - We are asking that all students stay at the school for dinner on Wednesday.  Whataburger, Firehouse Subs, and more are sponsoring our dinner that evening with FREE meals.  Again FREE! We will eat, then make our way to the football stadium for rehearsal.  

Car Wash - Thank you to all of our morning shifters for getting up and getting after it at the car wash Saturday.  Weather is unpredictable and we did the best we could with the time we had.  We are planning to schedule another car wash on Saturday, August 3rd 11:15-2:15.  This will be required for all students that signed up for the afternoon shifts on the original date.  I will be confirming locations tomorrow to see if we can do this.  We'll send out more info on this once we have locations.  We will need chaperones for this as well.  Please wait to collect pledges until we confirm.  

Preview Show - The 2024 MB&G Preview is this Thursday at the football stadium! Call time for students is 6pm.  The show will kickoff at 7pm with the march-in. Students must wear summer uniform for this:
  • Winds, Perc. - Claw Shirt, Blue Jean Shorts, Bando Shoes
  • Guard - Claw Shirt, Black Shorts, Guard Shoes, Guard Gloves
  • Managers - Claw Shirt, Blue Jean Shorts, Comfortable Shoes
Uniform ordering - The link to the bibbers will close on Friday.  All Winds and Percussion must order bibbers by the end of the day on Thursday.  After that, the price will go up.  Winds/Perc/Guard shoes and gloves will be worn for the preview show.  Please use the following link to order everything:

  • The Bando shoes website is currently having technical difficulties.  I will be contacting them tomorrow to see when it will be resolved
9th Grade Pep Rally - This Friday, all 10th-12th graders will be performing for our 9th graders at the Get Acquainted Day pep rally.  Please wear a band shirt of some kind.  Blue jean shorts and Bando shoes are not required for this. See below for schedule

Band Hall Floor Prep - We need help preparing the band hall for our new flooring install after the pep rally.  Please consider sticking around after the pep rally noon-2pm to help.  It shouldn't take too long if we have a lot of helpers.  

Small Group Parent Meetings - Small group parent meetings will be held this week. If you have signed up for one of the meetings or would like to attend to ask questions please join us. They will be in the classroom 131. There are several meetings available.
 Tuesday at 7:15-7:30 pm.
 Wednesday at 6:30-7:00 pm and then 8-8:30pm.

BPA Cash Register Training - We will have a cash register training on Wednesday starting at 7:00 pm in classroom 131 for about an hour for those interested in helping out with registers this year. You must attend a class before you will be able to work a register at an event.

When We Return - This will be the last weekly update until we return during teacher pre-planning.  Yes, that means school is just around the corner!! Please see schedule below that week.

Car Wash List and Info

Good afternoon,

Hope everyone is having a restful Friday.  The Car Wash is a go for Saturday at all locations.  Remember, we will be at MHS Cafeteria Parking Lot, Advanced Auto on Dogwood Road, Ollie's on HWY 90, and First Apostolic Church on HWY 90 close to Pea Ridge.  Please make sure you are at your location on time and for the full shift.  Morning Shift Chaperones, don't forget to meet at the band room first to get all items.  Afternoon shift chaperones will need to bring all items back to the band room once we are done. Remember to have fun, but be diligent with washing and listening to instructions. Chaperones, I sent info specifically for you yesterday.  Please look that over when you get a chance.  Good luck to all and we will see you Saturday.

​Hello All,
  • Band Camp - It's here!! We are finally to the most important two weeks of the beginning of marching season.  Over these weeks of camp, we will be learning music, drill, and body work for as much of the show as possible.  It is vital that all students are in attendance each day.  When students miss, this affects the whole band.  Make sure you are drinking plenty of fluids and eating. Here are some items to consider bringing
    • Water Thermos/Camel Pack
    • Snacks
    • Deodorant
    • Sunscreen
    • Hat
    • Deodorant
    • Sunglasses
    • Cloths in which to stay cool
    • Change of clothes if you want get out of sweaty clothes
    • Deodorant

  • Band Camp Dinner - The BPA will be selling food for dinner each day 4:30-6pm.  Ms. Arlene will be set up in the front of the band room each day at noon to take money.  You can pay for by the day, week or all-in-one.  Checks need to be made out to MHSBPA.   • Dress-Up Days - We encourage everyone to participate in the dress-up days.  The link below explains each day.  We do NOT have band camp on Friday.  We will move that dress-up dat to the following Monday and each day that week will move to the next day.  Prizes per person and section.  http://www.miltonhighschoolband.com/home/band-camp-dress-up-days-2024
  • Band Camp Cafe Help - THANK YOU  to all of the parents that have already signed up to help at the band camp cafe.  There are still a few spots opened.  This is a great chance to get to know the other parents and students.  Just go to the events in your CutTime link and scroll to each band camp day.  There, you will see what is available to sign up.
  • Car Wash - This Saturday is the mass band car wash.  Remember, this is a FREE wash.  You must get those pledges in order to make profits from this fundraiser.  All students must sign-up in the band room by Monday.   • Car Wash Help - WE ARE STILL IN NEED OF HELP FROM PARENTS.   To sign-up, you will need to go to the carwash event on CutTime and click the sign-up option for the time and location.  I will be sending out a separate direction sheet for all chaperones with detailed instructions about your responsibilities later this week.  We still have open slots for the following:
    • Adv. Auto 8am - 2 slots
    • First Ap. Church 8am - 3 slots
    • First Ap. Church 11:15 - 2 slots
    • MHS 11am - 4 slots

  • Preview Show - Go ahead and make plans now to be at the first performance of the 2024-25 MHS Mighty Black & Gold on Thursday, July 25th at 7pm in the Football stadium.  This is a free performance that you do not want to miss it!
  • Freshmen Day Pep Rally - Friday July 26 is Freshmen Day at MHS.  Freshmen students are encouraged to participate in all of the festivities that SGA will be putting on.  Please call the MHS front office for info.  Sophomores - Seniors will meet in the band room at 10am to get ready for the pep rally.  We should be done by 12:30.  Please wear summer uniforms for this.
  • Band Room Floor Prep - Immediately following the pep rally on the 26th, we are in need of student volunteers to get the band room ready to have the new flooring installed.  We will need to move everything off of the floors in the main band room area, office, and practice rooms.  Volunteer hours are available for this.  We should be done by 2pm.

Hello All,

WELCOME BACK!! We are so excited to get things rolling again this week! I hope all of you have had a restful summer so far.  Please take a look through all items carefully and we will see you on Tuesday!
  • Rehearsals - This week, we have full marching band rehearsal on Tuesday and Thursday 6pm-9pm.  We will be rehearsing part 1 of the show and preparing for band camp.  These rehearsals are important and attendance is a must.  Please make sure you communicate any attendance delmas with us.  Make sure you wear comfortable clothing and bring all equipment.  We will also be going over UDB app and giving out drill numbers.
  • UDB App - We have received all of the info for the UDB app.  For our new folks, the UDB or Ultimate Drill Book app is the app that we use to set drill on the field for the halftime show.  We have used this for the past three years and have found light years of success since then each year.  The band has purchased licenses for you.  The app will not cost you to download and does not have any in-app purchases.  Students will need this on their mobile devices to get their drill placement for the season.  You do not need to have a data plan to use this app.  You will need to be connected to wifi or data to download the app initially as well as download the drill once we receive it.  Once all of this has been downloaded, you are good to go and your mobile device does not have to be connected to any data while using the app.  If you have a phone that you are no longer using that can connect to wifi, we do accept these as donations for students that do not have a mobile device.  Please CLICK HERE for further instructions.  We will go over everything with this app on Thursday of next week, so please try to have everything set up by then.  
  • Unused Media Device Donations - If you have any unused mobile devices that can connect to wifi, please consider donating them to the band.  We use these for any students that do not currently have access to a mobile device.  Please erase all personal info from the device before you donate it.  
  • MHSBPA Meeting - This Tuesday is the July Monthly meeting for the BPA.  Parents, please make plans to attend as we will be going over upcoming volunteer events as well as reporting on committees and the Riverfest.  We have had an outstanding showing so far of volunteers, but we can always use more.  You will find out about all of these opportunities at these monthly meetings.  This will be help in the Math West room 131.  This is the building directly across from the band hall. 
  • Carwash July 20 - Our first fundraiser of the year will take place on Saturday, July 20th with our annual mass band carwash.  We will holding this at 4 locations around Milton.  These locations are, Milton High School, Advanced Auto on Dogwood, Ollies on Hwy 90, First Apostolic Church on Hwy 90.  This a a FREE carwash.  Students will collect pledges and at the end of the day, we will get a total from all 4 locations.  Students will then collected from the folks that made pledges and turn that into us.  The pledge sheet for students can be accessed here:

    Remember, the goal is to wash as many cars that day as possible, so tell everyone to stop by.  We do accept donations at each locations, however, no one is obligated to give.  Simply bring cars and let us wash.  Students will sign up for a location starting Tuesday.  This is a required event for students. We will sign-up by seniority beginning with our leadership and seniors, Juniors on Tuesday, Sophomores and Freshmen on Thursday.  There are 2 shifts available at each location. 
  • Carwash Chaperones - Parents, we need your help with chaperoning as well. Please to the Carwash Event on CutTime events and sign up for one or both shifts at one of the four locations. The students will wash, parents will simply be quality control and make sure the students are washing.  More info to be given at the BPA Meeting.  
  • Uniform Parts Ordering - All students must have blue jean shorts as part of the summer uniform this year.  These shorts cannot be frayed or have holes in them.  Winds and percussion also need to have purchased your Bando Shoes.  Guard members need to purchase gloves and shoes.  All of this will be worn at the Preview Show on July, 25th.  Ordering info can be found at the link below:

  • Bibbers - I will be sending the link out to order bibbers after this week.  You will be able to order bibbers at a discounted price with that link.  Winds and Percussion are required to purchase these.  If you have already order them inadvertently using a separate link, that is fine.  those bibbers are the exact same as what we use.  Please wait to purchase bibbers until I send that link out.
  • Band Camp - Band Camp is just one week away and we are excited to get our show on the field.  These are the most important 2 weeks of the beginning of marching season.  Attendance is required.  Remember, we will go 1pm-4:30pm outside/inside, 4:30pm-6pm dinner, 6pm-9pm outside.  We will keep track of weather conditions each day and make the best decisions about outside activities.  As you know, Florida is hot. We will be outside as much as possible while taking into account the heat and other weather circumstances. Make sure you have a water thermos or camel pack by next Monday, sunscreen, and appropriate clothing to stay cool. 
  • Band Camp Dress Up Days - Our leadership has put together the dress up days.  I encourage everyone to participate.  There will be competitions between each section for each day, with the winning section announced at the end of each rehearsal.  See themes on our Facebook/Insta pages.  
  • Preview Show - Go ahead and make plans now to be at the first performance of the 2024-25 MHS Mighty Black & Gold on Thursday, July 25th at 7pm in the Football stadium.  This is a free performance that you do not want to miss!
