Checkout procedures and Parking at Milton HS for Away events

8/25/2025

Checkout procedures:
Students must have a note from a parent to give to the head chaperone (Ashley Preston) or the band directors BEFORE we depart. At the end of the game, we will march back to the band truck and dismiss. At that point, students will need to go back to their bus with the chaperones and grab belongings. After that, they will meet Mrs. Preston at BUS 1 along with their ride and checkout with her. Yes, you will need to walk or drive across campus to meet at bus 1.  Understand, this procedure is to ensure the safety of all students.

Parking at Milton HS:
Below a map of our campus showing the band hall and math west buildings.  On this map, you will see areas that are circled indicating a no parking zone.  When we return from away events, it is vital to keep those areas clear so we can unload and dismiss as soon as possible.  We have to be able to back the band trucks in to their spots and pull the buses into the drop-off area.  Understand that if you park in the parking spots next to the bus pick-up/drop-off area, you may have to wait for the buses to leave before you can depart.  We will unload both trucks and get all instruments into the band room before we dismiss.  No student is to leave until the band dismisses inside the band room.

Hello All,

Great job last week! We really did our part in creating a great atmosphere for the game and we received a lot of compliments on the performance.  We are off to a great start MB&G!

Pensacola Game - This week, we play Pensacola HS at Pensacola.  We will make a decision on uniforms later in the week.  Currently, the plan is to be in summer uniform, however, there is a chance we will be in full uniform.  The full itinerary is below.

Chaperones and Truck Drivers - We have added an additional 5 chaperone spots and 2 truck driver spots for the game this week.  If you would like to chaperone or drive the other truck please sign up on CutTime.  We already have a driver and a rider for one truck.  We are in need of a driver and a rider for the other truck.

BPA Dinner Friday - The BPA will be serving student dinners in room 131 Math West this week 3:45-4:30.  We encourage all students to take advantage of this free meal.  Please make sure you eat something before we depart.

Bus Sign-ups - All students should have signed up for a bus at this point.  Please make sure you have signed up on Monday if you have not.

Show Shirt Designs - It is time to start the show shirt designs for this year. Each year, we take student-made submissions for the halftime show shirts. These designs are voted on by all band students, then sent to be professionally touched up and placed on black shirts. Here are some requirements for these designs:
  • Show title - Artificial Awakening
  • Year - 2025-26
  • Your name on the back page of design
  • Everything else is up to you
Submissions are due by September 3rd.

Lumpia Fundraiser - We will be kicking off the Lumpia fundraiser this week.  Students will be able to make $5 per bag of lumpia sold.  These are hand-rolled and our own recipe.  Lumpia will be delivered before Thanksgiving, probably in October.

FSU Band Day - On September 6th, FSU will be hosting their band day event.  This event gives students the opportunity to see the marching chiefs up close  in person and attend an FSU game.  We have received 110 FREE tickets for this event.  We still have plenty of seats.   Band students and parents may sign up to attend.  The cost is $60/person.  This is for the cost the buses. This is a first come first served basis.  Money must be turned in directly to the directors upon signing up.  No online payments can be made for this.  Checks or cash only.  Also, since this is outside of the normal band fee, no overage of CutTime payments will be able to be used for this.
Here is the itinerary for that day:
  • 4:30am CST - Call Time
  • 5am CST – Depart for FSU
  • 9:30 EST – Arrive FSU
  • 11am-2pm – FSU Game
  • 2:30pm EST – Depart for Milton
  • 5pm CST – Arrive Milton High School/Unload/Go Home

All-State Auditions - FBA All-State auditions will be on Saturday, September 13th here at MHS.  Any student wishing to audition MUST register with us by Tuesday of this week.  We will also need student help for this.  We will post a sign-up in the locker room with various times and positions for that day.  Volunteer hours can be earned with this.

Rehearsals Next Week - The week of the Washington game, we will only have one rehearsal since that game is on a Thursday.  That Tuesday rehearsal will be 6pm-9pm instead of 8:30.  Please adjust calendars accordingly.

That is all for now.  We hope you have a wonderful week!

Hello All,

Please see the schedule below for events this week.  I hope everyone's first week of school was amazing! Happy second week to all.

First Home Game - This Friday is our first football game of the year! I hope all of you are excited! See the itinerary below.  Remember, we will wear summer uniform for this game.  Leadership may wear leadership shirts. Call time is 6:00pm and kickoff is 7:30pm.

BPA Dinner for Students - The BPA will be serving optional dinner for students at the concession stand at the football field this Friday.  This is a free meal for students beginning at 4pm.  Students, please make sure you eat something before the 6pm call time.

Attendance - It is VITAL that all students are at all rehearsals and performances! The band is negatively affected when students are absent.  A big portion of the band grade, be it marching, concert, indoor, or more, is attendance.  Students will receive a zero in the gradebook for each absence.  Depending on the situation, students may make up these absences with an assignment given by the directors.  This could be a one hour practice session at the band room outside of normal rehearsal times,  an essay, pass-offs, etc.  Remember, while performances are required, they are also earned and a privilege.  Directors reserve the right to deny performances for any student if deemed that the student is not holding up to the standards and responsibilities of the band; this does include in other classrooms as well.  To put it simply, just be present and prepared.

MoneyDolly FR - WOW! We have reached our goal of $25,000 raised for the band, and surpassed it by raising over $30,000! Thank you to all who participated in this fundraiser.  I will get a print out soon and will credit the students that participated.

Lumpia Fundraiser - We have pushed the kickoff of the lumpia fundraiser to next week. school. Our BPA committee has been meeting weekly to prepare 40,000+ hand-rolled lumpia.  This is also our very own recipe.  Go ahead and get the word out now.

Loading Crew Sign-ups - Our Band Captains have placed the loading crew sign-ups on the locker room door.  Please sign up by the end of the day Monday.  The captains will announce loading crew after that.

Bus Sign-ups - We will begin bus sign-ups on Monday.  Leadership and Seniors will be Tuesday, Juniors Wednesday, Sophomores Thursday, and Freshmen on Friday.  Colorguard will all be on the same bus.  Also, for those that have signed up for loading crew, your will be placed on bus one.  We will have 5 total buses.
