Welcome to BANDTOBER!!! Over the next four weeks, we will have SEVERAL events for the marching band. The next three Saturdays, the MB&G will be competing against bands in our region. This is the peek of marching season. Please make sure you are taking care of yourself and keeping up with everything. Schedules and itineraries will be available through Texts, emails, CutTime, Facebook, Website, Band room TV Announcements, Word-of-mouth, and everything in between. It is imperative that students are at all events. This will be the busiest and quickest part of marching season. Hold on tight!
Game Monday - As you know, the homecoming game has been moved to Monday. See itinerary below. I am trying to get permission to get the band out of 6th period so we can have a quick rehearsal before dinner. We have not had a rehearsal as a group since last Saturday. We will let you know if this is a go first thing in the morning. The BPA will be providing pizza dinner for the band. Because of how early everything will be, we are requiring students to stay on campus. If you do not eat pizza, please plan to bring your own food. We are not requiring hair to be in braids for the game.
BPA Concessions Help Monday - The BPA is desperate need of help for the game on Monday. All areas have been created for signup on CutTime. Please help! Since this is our homecoming game, we are expecting a bigger than normal crowd.
Chaperones for Game - We are also desperate in need of Chaperones for the game. Again, please signup on CutTime! For any questions, please reach out to Ashley Preston 850-698-0025 at [email protected]
Extra Rehearsals - You will see that we have added a couple extra rehearsals this week. Because of the events of last week, we are a little behind and need to catch up to be ready for our home competition this Saturday. We may add an additional rehearsal on Friday or extend the rehearsal on Thursday to 9pm for the full marching band. We will see how Monday and Tuesday goes to make this call. I apologize for having to wait to add these. We are in a very unique situation because of the storm and HC week. Again, we will communicate as soon as possible every situation.
Blackwater Classic - BC is upon us! This Saturday is the 7th annual Blackwater Classic. We will have 10 HS bands and 1 University band as our guests. This is our home competition. Parents, WE NEED YOUR HELP. Please sign up on the BC event on CutTime. Over the years, the BC has been praised for its organization and hospitality. WE CANNOT DO THIS WITHOUT YOU. As of this update, there are 48 out of 103 available jobs to be filled for Saturday. Blackwater Classic Itinerary - The schedule is ready and the itinerary is set for BC. We will have rehearsal at 8am-11am that Saturday. After that, students will need to be seated in our section at 3:45pm to watch and support all performing bands. Symphonic Band will need to meet in the band room at 3:30 in uniform to get ready for the National Anthem. We perform the show at 7:45pm. The BPA will comp one meal per MHS band student that evening at the concession stand.
FBA Marching MPA - Saturday, October 12th is FBA Marching MPA. It will be held at Tate HS. Tickets are $10. Please plan to come out and watch our students showoff just for you. All high schools from Escambia, Santa Rosa, and Okaloosa Counties will be on display. We are still waiting on a performance time. We will have an itinerary for this once we receive the time.
FFCC Marching Band Competition - Our final competition of the year will be the FFCC marching band competition at Choctaw HS on Saturday, October 19th. We do not have our performance time as of yet.
SRC Marching Band Exhibition - The Santa Rosa County Marching Band Exhibition will be held on Tuesday, October 22nd at 6pm at Navarre HS. This is a FREE event in which all of the high schools in Santa Rosa County will be performing for each other and the public. More info to come.
