Congratulations on completing “Marching Band Season” with our final marching rehearsal on Thursday. We still have plenty of football left, though, so stay tuned! We are in full swing of concert rehearsals, and are excited for our upcoming concerts. Happy Pace Week!

IMPORTANT DATE CHANGE - Concert Band Rehearsal - This week’s Concert Band Rehearsal has been moved to Monday, October 27th from 4-6pm.


TR Jackson Parade - Friday is the TR Jackson Storybook parade.  We will only be taking the leadership team to this because of the VERY tight quarters at the school.  There will not be enough room to march through the hallways at TR Jackson if the whole band is there.  Leadership, please see itinerary below.


Pace week Dress-up days - Students are encouraged to dress up for Pace week at school! The days are as follows:

• Monday - Party on Pace (Neon)
• Tuesday - Panthers are Double the Trouble (Twin with someone)
• Wednesday - Friday Night Lies (White lie shirts)
• Thursday - Generations of Victory
• 9th - Babies
• 10th - Dress as School Age
• 11th - Dress as moms and dads
• 12th - Dress like grandparents
• Friday - Pink Out Pace (Wear all things pink!)

Pace Game Dress-up - The Pace game will be played on Halloween this year.  Students are highly encouraged to wear a costume for the game.  As long as you can play and march, you are good to go.  Face paint is okay.  Costumes must be school appropriate and nothing political.  Students who wish not to wear costumes will wear summer uniforms that evening. This night will be COLD. Students can wear jackets. If students wear summer uniform, make sure you wear long blue jeans.


Playoff Game - There is an increased possibility that we will be in the playoffs. As soon as we know where the playoff game is, we will provide more information and details. The first playoff round happens on Friday, November 14th.


Semester Concerts - Mark your calendars.  We will present a fall concert on November 6th at 6pm in the MHS Auditorium.  This will feature the Concert Band, Blackwater Beats Jazz Band, and Symphonic Band.  We will be performing themes from our favorite movies. Our Christmas Concert will take place on December 11th at 6:30pm.  Come on out and get into the season for this FREE concert.

Congratulations on surviving Bandtober/Homecoming Week!!! It was a very busy time with so many fantastic performances. We are still in football season, with a high chance of going into post-season playoffs! With that being said, we have already begun to transition to concert season, with a fall concert on the horizon.


Panther, Concert, and Symphonic Rehearsals - Starting this week, we will begin after school rehearsals for the 3 concert groups.  The schedule is below.  This is in preparation for the Fall Concert on November 6th in the Auditorium.  


Dress-up Rehearsal - Our final marching band rehearsal of the season will be this Thursday, October 23rd.  We encourage all students to dress up in your best costume.  As long as you can play and march, you are good to go.  

Medallion Ceremony - This Thursday, Oct 23rd, we will have our medallion ceremony.  Parents are invited to watch if you wish.  Students will be receiving a special custom-made silver or gold medallion representing their service in marching band for the year. 


Lumpia - The Lumpia for the fundraiser will be ready for pick up on Thursday, October 23rd.  Please make plans to pick up your orders for your customers.  Remember, you are responsible for pick up and delivery.  This will take place in room 131 math west.  

Rhodes ES Storybook Parade - This Friday is the Rhodes ES Storybook Parade.  See the itinerary below.  Students may dress up in costumes for this if you wish.  We will walk to and from Rhodes.

OUTSTANDING JOB TO THE MB&G!!! Students, you are simply amazing! You are literal rock stars! It is the coolest thing to hear other schools say how you are their favorite and that you are awesome! You did an incredible job at FBA this past week! You've done and incredible job throughout this season.  Keep it up! only one more week left of Bandtober! 


Homecoming Week - HAPPY HOMECOMING.  This week there are lots of events and dress-up days to enjoy each day.  I encourage everyone to take part and get into the spirit of homecoming.  The MB&G will be playing a huge part as always. Here is a rundown of the uniforms for the week:
Mon - SRC Marching Band Exhibition at Pace HS - Full Uniform
Tues- Wear a band shirt or dress Rhyme Without Reason for Escapades
Thurs - Bring formal uniform to school for pep rally, change during 5th period
Fri - Summer Uniform for Parade, Full Uniform for game.
Sat - Little Big Horn Marching Band Festival - Band Shirt and Full Uniform


SRC Marching Band Exhibition - The Santa Rosa County Marching Band Exhibition will be held on Monday at 6pm at Pace HS.  This is a FREE event in which all of the high schools in Santa Rosa County will be performing for each other and the public.  Since this is at Pace, students will need to plan their own rides to Pace.  We will meet at 5pm.  Students will also need to bring their own equipment. 


Escapades - This Tuesday is Escapades.  This is the after school pep rally in the gym.  All of the class skits will be performed and the HC court will be introduced.  Parents are invited to come out and watch.  The  itinerary is below.  Call time is 5:45 in a band shirt or Rhyme Without Reason. This is a required event! 


HC Parade - We will meet at 9am in the band room for the HC parade then bus to King MS in rotation on 2 buses.  The parade will kickoff around 10:30.  Students will be dismissed at the end.  Buses will run at Noon.  See itinerary below.


Homecoming Game - This Friday is our homecoming game.  See itinerary below.   Take note that we will be performing our halftime show at POST GAME before we march back to the band room.  We will also be giving a special performance for all of our middle schools at the practice field before the game.  We will also be inviting all of our Band Alumni to join us in the stands at the 2nd half of the game. WE WILL BE LOADING THE TRUCKS AFTER WE MARCH BACK TO THE BAND HALL.


Little Big Horn - This Saturday is our final marching band competition.  This is at Channell-Lee Stadium 301 Jeffcoat Ave, Opp, AL 36467.  We perform at Noon.  The full itinerary is below.  We will load the trucks after the performance before we send the HC students back.  All HC students have until Tuesday to fill out the form in the band room letting us know you will be attending the dance.  Tickets for the competition can be purchased here: https://gofan.co/event/4902852?schoolId=AL11818


Little Big Horn Meals - We will be purchasing lunch for all students not attending homecoming.  This will be after we perform at around 12:30pm.  Please fill out the form using the link provided.  Choice of HOTDOGS, SAUSAGE DOG, HAMBURGER, CHEESEBURGER, PIZZA.  All meals come with chips and a drink.  So far, all concessions are cash only.  The Opp Band Boosters are working on the use of cards.  Please plan to bring cash for dinner.

THANK YOU - THANK YOU - THANK YOU - We just cannot say it enough! Once again, all of you came together and blew everyone away! The Performance was AMAZING!  The students were AMAZING! The organization was AMAZING! The volunteers were AMAZING! Every director that we spoke with just could not stop praising how everything was for the Blackwater Classic! All thanks to all of you! All of you are are so amazing! Thank you!


Sweet Season BPA Concessions Sales - The BPA will is selling  concessions at Sweet Seasons farms in North Milton.  This is a family friendly fun event occurring each weekend until the beginning of November.  We need your help with to make these days successful.  Parents and students may sign-up on CutTime.  Please be reminded that you must work your entire shift.  Please see any of our BPA board for more details.  The address for the farm is 2260 Horn Rd, Milton, FL 32570


FBA Marching MPA - Saturday, October 11th is FBA Marching MPA.  It will be held at Ft. Walton Beach HS.  Tickets are $15.  Please plan to come out and watch our students showoff just for you. All high schools from Escambia, Santa Rosa, and Okaloosa Counties will be on display.  We are still waiting on a performance time. The itinerary for this is as follows:

SRC Marching Band Exhibition - The Santa Rosa County Marching Band Exhibition will be held on Monday, October 13th at 6pm at Pace HS.  This is a FREE event in which all of the high schools in Santa Rosa County will be performing for each other and the public.  Since this is at Pace, students will need to plan their own rides to Pace.  We will meet at 5pm.  Students will also need to bring their own equipment.  We will pack all front ensemble equipment in the band truck.


Little Big Horn Marching Band Competition - The Little Big Horn competition is on October 18th at Opp High School in Alabama.  We have a TENTATIVE performance time of Noon.  We will have more info about this as we receive it.  For students going to the homecoming dance, we will send however many buses back early with those students.  Students not attending the dance will stay and represent MHS for the awards ceremony and watch bands.  Here is the TENTATIVE schedule:

  • The HC Game will also be band alumni night.  All MHS Band alumni are welcome to join us during the 2nd half in the stands.  bring your instruments.  We will not provide instruments.
    
  • The HC Game is also middle school night.  Avalon, Hobbs, and King MS students will be with us.  We will perform for them at the practice field.  They will march-in with us and play with us in the stands during the 1st half of the game, then leave at the half.  
    
  • We will perform our show at post game, then march out
    
  • We will load the trucks after we return to the band room.
