Great job at the Milton Christmas Parade! Our community loved to see the MB&G, and Pensacola will be just as happy! We have lots of Christmas festivities ahead this week; see below for all the details.

Tree Decorating - This Tuesday the 9th will be the section tree decorating.  This will take place after Symphonic Band rehearsal in the auditorium.  Color guard will have their chance to decorate at 4pm during the symphonic rehearsal or throughout the week.  Trees will be judged by an outside panel on Thursday at 5:45.  The winning section will be announced during the concert. A Grand prize is available for the top winning section.

BPA Meeting - This Tuesday at 7pm is the December meeting for the BPA. Please come out and get all of the info for the upcoming events in the next semester as well as reports on everything from this semester.

Christmas Concert - The annual band Christmas concert is this Thursday, Dec. 11th at 6:30 in the Auditorium.  This is a FREE concert with performances by the Blackwater Beats Jazz Band, Panther Band, Concert Band, and Symphonic Band.  We invite everyone to come out and get into the holiday spirit with us.  We will also have the section Christmas trees decorated all around the auditorium.  Doors will open at 5:30.

Secret Santa Gift Exchange - As tradition, we will have a secret Santa gift exchange at the party.  Any student that would like to participate in this will need to provide a gift that is a minimum of $5.  We will collect these gifts throughout the week and at the party.  Do not put your name on the gift.  We will place a number on each gift and have students sign the list so we know who is participating.

Section Money Wars - The section money wars will take place up until Wednesday.  Remember, the section that donates the most money in their box will get to pie one of the directors.  The winner will be announced at the concert.

Here is all of the info so far about the Pensacola Parade this Saturday:

When: Saturday, December 13th
Time: 4pm-Call Time, 5:30-Parade Start
Where: See link, Park at Wahoo Stadium parking lot, Meet at north end of parking lot

What to wear: Full Uniform minus helmets, wear Christmas hats and lights/decorations

Call time is 4pm, BUT I will highly encourage everyone to get there by 3:45 to ensure you have a parking spot or that you will be able to be at the Wahoo stadium in time.  As noted, we will meet at the north end of the parking lot.  From there, we will walk to W Romana Street and line-up.  Once we are lined-up, we should have enough time to mingle with the other bands and maybe look through the floats. I estimate that our step-off time will be around 6:15pm. See link for parade route. If you are spectating the parade and want to see  us twice, i suggest you station yourself at the north end of Palafox where we will loop around and head south.  If you want the best sound and most congestion, the south end of Palafox is where to go.  WEAR will also be broadcasting the parade with commentary. The parade ends at Main Street.  We will walk back to the Wahoo stadium from there and dismiss.  The Wahoo Stadium will be the drop off and pick-up location.  The estimated end time for us is around 7:45 to 8pm.

Hello All,

Congratulations on a very successful Fall Concert! All ensembles performed at a high level and we could not be more proud of your hard work. If you missed it, you can watch it on our YouTube page here: https://youtu.be/eeciSirFYmc?si=jxRlzxlX1yPQ6BrV

Playoff Game Nov 14 - We have decided not to bring the band to the football playoff game this Friday. We reached out to 8 different charter bus companies. None of which had buses and drivers available or had a reasonable price with the itinerary submitted. We also looked into school buses and could not obtain buses or drivers with that same itinerary. Staying overnight is not an option because of price. We cannot justify spending thousands of dollars to travel for the 3 hour game and return at this time when we have equipment and uniform needs for the band. We also have to think about future playoff game potentials. The football state championship will be held at Florida International University in Miami. We need to plan for that potential. We do support our team and wish them the best of luck in our first playoff game in over 10 years! We may try to plan a sendoff for them when they leave. TBD

Marching Season - Congratulations on finishing the normal season of football. Here is what is left of marching season:

  • Nov 21 - Possible Playoff Game

We will hand out plumes at the band hall and collect at my (Mr. Schultz's) truck at the end of the parade.  The parade route begins at the anchor at MHS, goes south on Stewart Street, left down Berryhill Road, right on Willing Street in downtown Milton, and ends at Veteran's Memorial.  Students will need to have a ride from Veteran's Memorial at the end of the parade. Remember to bring instruments and uniforms back on Monday. Everyone is welcome to attend the ceremony after the parade put on by the VA.

Indoor Percussion - We will continue to hold auditions this Monday.  See schedule below.

Winterguard - Winterguard Camp and auditions will be held this week.  See schedule below.

We have 20+ teams of 4 expecting to compete for a $10,000 hole in one, a long drive, closest to the pin, and many more prizes. The concession trailer will be on site selling food and the BPA will also have some brand new merchandise for sale as well. Sign up on CutTime for available volunteer opportunities!

Concert and Indoor - As we move to full-on concert/Indoor season, we will be taking our big marching ensemble and splitting that into multiple smaller ensembles.  Each of these ensembles will have their own afterschool rehearsals.  Students are required to attend all rehearsals and performances associated with their ensemble.  Make sure you look through the calendar carefully to see when these rehearsals and performances will take place.
