Welcome back! I hope everyone has had a wonderful and relaxing Spring Break.  We are now in the home stretch to the end of the school year.  Please make sure you stay up to date with everything.  


GCGPC Championships - If you have yet to see our indoor groups, you are really missing out.  They have also had outstanding performances these past few months at competitions.  You have one final chance to see them at Tate HS this Saturday for the GCGPC Championships.  See performance times below.  Tickets are $15 cash or $18 for credit cards at the door.  Come on out let's cheer for our guard and percussion.


State Solo & Ensemble - This Saturday is also FBA State Solo & Ensemble MPA at Leon HS in Tallahassee.  We have nine students that will be participating in this.  We wish these students the best of luck as they push themselves to participate at the state level with their individual solos and ensembles.

All-County - Since Snowapocalypse canceled the All-County Band events that week, this has been moved to April 2nd and 3rd.  April 2nd will be a rehearsal in the band hall 6pm-9pm.  April 3rd will be an all day rehearsal in the band hall with the concert in the auditorium that evening at 6:30. This concert is FREE.  Everyone is invited to come out and listen.  


Spring Concert - Everyone is invited and encouraged to come out and show your support for all of our students Friday, May 2nd in the Gym and Auditorium.  The whole concert will begin at 6pm in the gym with our Winterguards and Indoor Percussion groups.  Then we will transfer to the Auditorium to hear the rest of our groups at 7pm.  This is a totally FREE event.  Please come out and enjoy the year in review from all of our wonderful students.


Leadership Applications and other Paperwork - We have began handing out the applications for leadership, senior scholarships, Last Wills, and Letter/Bars.  These can be found on the locker room doors or by going to the following link: (http://www.miltonhighschoolband.com/mhs-band-documents.html). Please make sure you read through all info and observe the deadlines.  Most are due the day of the Spring Concert, May 2nd.  


MHS Campus Beautification Day/Leadership Clinic - For all of those interested in running for leadership please note that you will need to make plans to attend the campus beautification day/leadership clinic on April 5th.  This will be 8am-Noon.  Campus cleaning 8am-11am and leadership clinic 11am-Noon.  If you are not planning to run for leadership, you are still welcome to come out and attend.  


Beats and Eats Festival - The BPA is bringing back the Beats & Eats Festival! This will be held on Saturday, April 26th in Downtown Milton at Jernigan's Landing.  We are looking for arts and food vendors.  If you know anyone interested, please send them the attached poster or send them to this link: http://www.miltonhighschoolband.com/home/beats-eats-jazz-festival-april-26th We will be posting volunteer sign-ups on CutTime soon for various areas.

This will be the last weekly update for a couple of weeks.  I hope all of you have a wonderful, safe, and fun Spring Break! We look forward to seeing everyone again on the backside.  


FBA Concert MPA - OUTSTANDING JOB TO ALL!! We are so proud of the Concert and Symphonic bands for 2 wonderful performances at FBA Concert MPA. The Concert Band earned an excellents on stage and a superior in sight-reading.  The Symphonic Band earned overall superior on stage and a superior in sight-reading.  Wonderful music performed by AMAZING students! Thank you to the parents that helped chaperon and/or drive the truck.  


Student Shish Kabob Meat Sticking - We will have a big shish kabob meat sticking on Tuesday beginning 5th period-6pmish, or earlier if we get done.  All students must attend after school.  If parents would like to help out, please sign up on the CutTime event.


BPA Board Nominations - All nominations for the 2025-26 BPA Board are due by Monday at the BPA meeting. FBA Concert MPA - Here we are! We are in the final week of FBA MPA season.  This Friday is the FBA Concert MPA performances for the Concert and Symphonic Bands at Ft. Walton Beach HS.  The full itinerary is below.  We will wear our uniforms minus gauntlets, gloves, and helmets.  Make sure you bring your bibbers, BLACK socks, and Bando shoes.  Please note that we will be taking students to Uptown Station in Ft. Walton to have dinner.  Students will need their own means of payment.  Restaurants available are McDonalds, Taco Bell, Buffalo Wild Wings, and more. The Concert Band performs at 4:30pm and the Symphonic Band at 8:30pm.  This concert is FREE.  come on out and support our students.


Student Shish Kabob Meat Sticking - Just a heads up that we will have a big shish kabob meat sticking on Tuesday, March 11 beginning 5th period-6pmish, or earlier if we get done.  All students must attend after school.  


Indoor Groups - If your haven't seen our indoor percussion and guard groups yet, you are really missing out.  All of these students have been working so hard and putting on fabulous performances! You can watch them on our YouTube page.  The guard will be performing at the Escambia Indoor Show on the 15th.  Percussion and guard will finish out their seasons on the 29th at Tate High School for the GCGPC Championships.  Go ahead and make plans now to attend!.


8th Grade Orientation - The Marching Band will be performing this Tuesday for the 8th grade orientation pep rally.  Students will need to wear a band shirt for this.  We will meet in the band room at 9:15 and end by around noon.

FBA Jazz MPA - A Very big CONGRATULATIONS to our own Blackwater Beats Jazz Band for an outstanding performance at Jazz MPA this past Friday! You brought the house down and earned straight superior ratings! We really had fun and the audience did as well!  Great job everyone.


Mock MPA/Preview Concert - We will be hosting this concert this Monday, February 24th in the auditorium.  This is a free concert open to the public.  Gulf Breeze HS will perform along with MHS Concert and Symphonic bands.  We will have a couple guest directors giving each band feedback as well.  Please make plans to join us that night.  Call time is 6pm, the performances will begin at 6:30pm. Students need to wear claw shirt and blue jeans/blue jean shorts and mostly black shoes.


USM Brass Day - The USM Brass Faculty will be giving a performance and masterclass on Wednesday from 5pm-7pm in the Milton HS Auditorium. This is for all brass students in District 1, but all band students are welcome to attend! Entry to this is FREE! All MHS Brass students are required to attend.


Indoor Percussion/Guard -Thank you to all that have been going to the indoor competitions the past several weeks.  These students are working hard and deserve all of our support.  Come see both our guard and percussion this Saturday at Choctaw HS.  Performance times and itineraries are below. 


FBA Concert MPA - The FBA Concert MPA performance is next Friday, March 7th at Ft. Walton Beach HS.  The Concert Band will perform at 4:30pm and the Symphonic at 8:30pm.  All wind, percussion, and managers are required to attend this.  We will be wearing our uniforms for this, without gloves, helmets, and gauntlets. We do need chaperones and a truck driver for this. Below is the itinerary for that day.

Solo & Ensemble - Congratulations and outstanding job to all of our students who participated in the FBA S&E this past Saturday.  We had a total of 26 entries with 19 Superior, 6 Excellent, and Ratings.  Thank you to all of you for stepping up your musicianship skills to the next level! 


Panther Percussion - Shout out to the Panther Percussion for earning a Superior rating at the FBA S&E MPA. We are super proud of these students


FBA Jazz MPA - This Friday is the FBA Jazz MPA.  The Blackwater Beats will be performing at 8:05 at PSC Auditorium.  We invite all of you to come out and support us and listen to some great jazz music from all around the region.  This performance is FREE.  The complete itinerary is below.


Indoor Percussion/Guard - There is no competition this Saturday for these groups.  Great job to all of these students! Over the past 3 weeks, they have been competing and showing off to everyone! We are super proud of their hard work.  At the Pace competition, the IP earned 6th out of 7th place, the JV Winterguard earned 6th out of 7th place, and the Varsity Winterguard earned 4th out of 9th! We encourage everyone to come out to the next show at Choctaw HS on March 1st!

FBA Season - Welcome to the FBA Spring season! Over the next few weeks, there will be different FBA events taking place.  These events are Solo & Ensemble MPA this Saturday, Jazz MPA on the 15th at PSC, and Concert MPA on the 7th of March at FWBHS. These dates are the most important dates for the spring semester for winds and percussion and jazz. All of these performances are FREE and we encourage audience attendance and support to each.


FBA Solo & Ensemble - This will be at Escambia HS on Saturday.  All participating students, please check the posted schedule and make sure you have ORIGINALS TO ALL MUSIC WITH NUMBERED MEASURES.  Ms. Julia will be in each day this week to practice with soloists.  See attached info for maps of Escambia HS as well as your performance schedule.


Panther Percussion at Solo & Ensemble - The Panther Percussion will be giving a performance at the Solo & Ensemble at 1:50.  These students are to meet at Escambia High School at 1:15 in front of the check-in desk.  We will be wearing black slacks, black button up shirts, and black shoes for this.  Parents are invited to sit in and listen as well.  This is a FREE performance.  


FBA Jazz MPA - This will take place next Friday, February 22st at the auditorium at Pensacola State College.  Our performance is at 8:05pm.  We will bus over there to watch and support the other school performances.  After all performances are done, we will enjoy our traditional meal at Steak N Shake :-) We should be back at MHS around 10pmish.


Indoor Groups - Congratulations to our Winterguards and Black Gold Percussion Ensemble for great starts to the competition season with two great performances at South Walton  and Robertsdale High Schools.  Come out and see these awesome students at the next competition at Pace High School this Saturday.  See times below.  Tickets are $15.

Band Fees - Now that the new year and second semester is upon us, it is time to make the final payments for all band and indoor fees.  All accounts have been updated with the BPA incentive volunteer discount.  Payments can be made online or directly to the money box.  If using checks to make separate payments to various fees, please use separate checks per fee.  It is imperative that all fees are paid ASAP.
