HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL!!! I hope you have been able to rest up over the break and took advantage of much needed relaxation and family time. We will be easing our way back in to the swing of things this week and preparing for an adventurous semester.
Student Intern - As we begin the Spring semester, we welcome a student intern. Melia Coulter will be joining us throughout this semester as she completes the final semester at UWF where she is earning a Bachelor's of Music Education degree. She is returning home with the MB&G as a 2022 MHS graduate. Please feel free to introduce yourselves to her!
February Solo & Ensemble Forms - All students interested in participating in the S&E MPA in February must turn in an S&E form by this Friday. THIS IS ONLY FOR STUDENTS THAT WISH TO QUALIFY FOR THE STATE S&E. Students must earn a superior rating on a grade 5 or higher in order to qualify. CLICK HERE to download the form from our website or see attached. To find the code of the piece or pieces you will be performing, CLICK HERE and fill out the info. Please turn in one paper per piece. There is another S&E opportunity in April.
BPA Concession Sales at Weber's Skateworld - The BPA will have our concessions trailer set up at Weber's Skateworld in Milton on MLK Weekend from January 15th -19th for the Emerald Coast inline skating competition. We need lots of volunteers to make this event successful. This event has multiple shifts per day beginning at 5am till 5pm. Again, this is broken into three shifts. PARENTS, WE NEED YOU HELP. Students may help on the weekend if they wish. Volunteer signups will be added today on CutTime. Please signup through CutTime or reach out to Arlene Wires at 850-910-5636 or [email protected].
Tri-M - We will be taking our Tri-M group picture for the yearbook on Wednesday. All member must wear your Tri-M shirt for this picture.
All-County - We will have our first rehearsal for the All-County band this Thursday at the MHS Band Hall. Students will receive their music on that day if not earlier. Attendance is required by all AC members.
Symphonic Woodwind Sectional - We will begin our first Symphonic sectional this Tuesday. All Symphonic Woodwinds must make plans to attend.
Indoor Rehearsals - We also kickstart all indoor guard and percussion rehearsals this week. Make sure you look carefully at the calendar for all dates. Competitions are just around the corner.
Calendar Fundraiser - We will be starting the calendar fundraiser this month on Tuesday. Students can raise funds to their band accounts by selling days of the week. For example, Aunt Suzie wants to purchase January 23rd, then Aunt Suzie would pay $23. Multiple people can purchase multiple days. Students can earn $496 if all days are sold!!
That is all for now. We hope you have a wonderful week!!
