This Week in the Mighty Black & Gold

Hello All,

Please see the schedule below for events this week.  I hope everyone's first week of school was amazing! Happy second week to all.

Senior Band Pics - All seniors will need to meet at the band room at 5pm on Tuesday.  They will be getting their individual pictures made in uniform by Mrs. Rachel Downs for a project.  Please be ready to go.  This should not take too long.  

East Milton ES Pep Rally - East Milton Elementary has asked the MB&G to perform for their beginning of the year pep rally again.  We will need to meet at East Milton ES at 7:30am.  The pep Rally will be done by around 8:15ish.  Students will need to wear a band shirt.  Students can also receive volunteer hours for this.  You will need to secure your own ride to EMES and to MHS.  Let's have a good showing for our future panthers! This is a volunteer event and not required.

Away Game Friday - This Friday is our first away game of the season. This will be at Crestview HS.  Call time is 4:30pm.  The BPA will be feeding students in math west room 131 right after school until 4:15.  Students should've already signed up for 1 of 5 buses at this point.  Students MUST ride busses to the game.  Students may check out with parents at the end after we have marched back to the truck and dismissed.  Here are the checkout procedures:

• Students must have a note from a parent to give to the head chaperone (Ashley Preston) or the band directors BEFORE we depart. At the end of the game, we will march back to the band truck and dismiss. At that point, students will need to go back to their bus with the chaperones and grab belongings. After that, they will meet Mrs. Preston at BUS 1 along with their ride and checkout with her. Yes, you will need to walk or drive across campus to meet at bus 1.  Understand, this procedure is to ensure the safety of all students.

Returning from away events - We usually send the trucks back early after we reload from away events so they are already at the school before we arrive on buses.  We are asking that parents that are waiting at the MHS please help unload the trucks before we return.  This will allow everyone to dismiss and depart as soon as possible.  Thank you in advance.

Band Section at Games - Parents, please understand that the band section at games is off limits to non-band/non-chaperones during games.  Our students have a task to maintain a fun and enriching environment to all.  We have designated chaperones around the band that are also tasked with assignments along with creating a barricade.  We do not mind at all if you want to talk with your kiddo from a distance, but please do not enter the band section. Our chaperones are doing their best to ensure the safety of our students.  Please respect their position.  We do on a rare occasion have a non-chaperone parents in the section for various reasons.
