So I just realized that I never sent the weekly events this week. Sorry about that!
The 2016 rookie camp has come and gone. We had one cool day three very very hot days but our rookies/leadership/returning members endured! I would like to welcome our 60 newest member of the Mighty Black & Gold Band family! I cannot wait to really get started with this year after seeing your hard work this past week! Congratulations to you all. I would like to thank our leadership team for your team effort and "go-get-itness" that you showed over the week. I also want to thank the returning members that came out to camp each day to give the rookies that wonderful example. Finally I would like to thank Rhonda Harris and Sandy Kennedy for giving up your time and volunteering each day to help keep the students hydrated and healthy!
Our percussion and colorguard are continuing to work hard as well through their camps. Keep it up ladies and gentlemen! Your hard work will pay off enormously in July!
I encourage all parents to attend the MHSBPA meeting tonight at the Band room at 7pm. Remember, by having a child in our band, you are automatically a member of the Band Parent Association. There are no dues for the BPA!
This will probably be the last update for several weeks. Please make sure you continue to watch the charms calendar. Percussion camp will finish this week and colorguard will continue on Mondays and Thursdays till the end of June. There are also several volunteer opportunities for you parents with the BPA for Friday night Bands on the Blackwater as well as Riverfest on July 4th. It is hard work at times, but I promise you, you;ll have a blast and get to know some amazing people in the process! We have also changed the BPA volunteer incentive program this year. You have the chance to work off $75 of your child's fair share for the year with up to three volunteer events, $25 per event. Please sign up for these events by clicking the hand icon on the event on the calendar.
I hope everyone has a fun and safe summer. I will be thinking about you all and cannot wait to see everyone in July! :-)
