WELCOME BACK!! After a long break, we are finally getting the band back together. I hope all of you have enjoyed this break and are geared up ready to go for all of the events coming up. I am looking forward to seeing everyone once again and getting the show on field and hearing all about how you have spent your break. Please look through all of the info below carefully.
Rehearsals - This week, we have full marching band rehearsal on Tuesday and Thursday 6pm-9pm. We will be rehearsing part 1 of the show and preparing for band camp. These rehearsals are important and attendance is mandatory. Please make sure you communicate any attendance dilemmas with us. Make sure you wear comfortable clothing and bring all equipment. We will also be going over UDB app and giving out drill numbers.
Marching Band Wind Parts - See attached for part distribution for all winds in marching band for the show and stands tunes.
UDB App - We have received all of the info for the UDB app. For our new folks, the UDB or Ultimate Drill Book app is the app that we use to set drill on the field for the halftime show. The band has purchased licenses for you. The app will not cost you to download and does not have any in-app purchases. Students will need this on their mobile devices to get their drill placement for the season. You do not need to have a data plan to use this app. You will need to be connected to wifi or data to download the app initially as well as download the drill once we receive it. Once all of this has been downloaded, you are good to go and your mobile device does not have to be connected to any data while using the app. Please CLICK HERE for further instructions. We will go over everything with this app on Thursday of next week, so please try to have everything set up by then.
MHSBPA Meeting - This Tuesday is the July Monthly meeting for the BPA. Parents, please make plans to attend as we will be going over upcoming volunteer events as well as reporting on committees and the Riverfest. We have had an outstanding showing so far of volunteers, but we can always use more. You will find out about all of these opportunities at these monthly meetings. This will be help in the Auditorium.
Carwash Fundraiser - The annual band carwash will take place on Saturday July 19. This is a FREE carwash that we put on at 4 separate locations around Milton (Milton High School Cafeteria, Advanced Auto on Dogwood, Milton Carpet on Glover Lane, and First Apostolic Church on 90). Students will sign up for a shift and location beginning on July 8th. CLICK HERE for the pledge sheet. This is a huge fundraiser for the band. Students will need to get pledges. We will add up the total number of vehicles washed at the end of the day. Students will collect the money based off of that total number. Please read the info on the attached form. Students are required to sign up and wash. Go ahead and start getting those pledges now.
Carwash Chaperones - Parents, we need your help with chaperoning as well. Please go to the Carwash Event on CutTime events and sign up for one or both shifts at one of the four locations. The students will wash, parents will simply be quality control and make sure the students are washing. More info to be given at the BPA Meeting.
Uniform Fittings - This will take place on Saturday, July 12th. WOODWINDS - 2pm-4pm
BRASS/PERCUSSION - 4pm-6pm. We will post custom link for bibbers and shoes. DO NOT ORDER THESE YET. Guard uniforms will be on order next week. Guard can order gloves and shoes by clicking the following link: http://www.miltonhighschoolband.com/uniform-ordering-information.html
Uniform Parts Ordering – All Winds/Perc/Managers must have blue jean shorts as part of the summer uniform this year. Guard needs black shorts. These shorts cannot be frayed or have holes in them. Winds and percussion also need to have purchased your Bando Shoes after Saturday. Guard members need to purchase gloves and shoes. All of this will be worn at the Preview Show on July, 24th.
Band Camp - Band Camp is just one week away and we are excited to get our show on the field. These are the most important 2 weeks of the beginning of marching season. Attendance is required. Remember, we will go 1pm-4:30pm outside/inside, 4:30pm-6pm dinner, 6pm-9pm outside. We will keep track of weather conditions each day and make the best decisions about outside activities. As you know, Florida is hot. We will be outside as much as possible while taking into account the heat and other weather circumstances. Make sure you have a water thermos or camel pack by next Monday, sunscreen, and appropriate clothing to stay cool.
Band Camp Café Help - THANK YOU to all of the parents that have already signed up to help at the band camp cafe. There are still a few spots opened. This is a great chance to get to know the other parents and students. Just go to the events in your CutTime link and scroll to each band camp day. There, you will see what is available to sign up.
Band Camp Dress Up Days - Our leadership has put together the dress up days. I encourage everyone to participate. There will be competitions between each section for each day, with the winning section announced at the end of each rehearsal. See themes on our Facebook/Insta pages.
Preview Show - Go ahead and make plans now to be at the first performance of the 2025-26 MHS Mighty Black & Gold on Thursday, July 24th at 7pm in the Football stadium. This is a free performance that you do not want to miss!
