This Week in the Mighty Black & Gold

Hello all,

Congratulations on surviving Bandtober! It was a long, yet short month of amazing performances.  We are almost to the end of football season with one final game this Friday vs. Pace HS! With that being said, we have already began to transition to concert season, while also having some parade performances with the marching band.

Drumline Performances - The drumline has two separate performances this week. The first is a drumline battle on Monday evening at the Whataburger in Pea Ridge, all are welcome to come and support! The second is a drumline battle at Pea Ridge ES on Tuesday morning. Find more details below.

Milton vs Pace Whataburger drumline Battle – We are asking all of our students, families, and fans to come out and support the MB&G Drumline this Monday 6pm-8pm at the Whataburger in Pea Ridge in front of Walmart.  Our drumline will be “battling” against the Pace drumline.  Cat Country will be on site as well.  There are several contests including a milkshake drinking challenge, who has the most fans challenge, and the drumline battle.  This event is FREE.  Come on out and support our MB&G students.

TR Jackson Parade - Thursday is the TR Jackson Storybook parade.  We will only be taking the leadership team to this because of the VERY tight quarters at the school.  There will not be enough room to march through the hallways at TR Jackson if the whole band is there.  Leadership, please see itinerary below.

Symphonic and Concert Rehearsals - This week, our symphonic and concert band will begin rehearsing. This week, the Symphonic Band will rehearse on Tuesday and Concert Band will rehearse on Wednesday.

Final/Dress-up Marching Rehearsal - This Thursday is our final marching band rehearsal of the season.  This is also our dress-up rehearsal.  You can wear anything you wish as long as you can play and march, and it is school appropriate.  Parents are invited to watch as well if you wish.  It is always a blast!

BPA Concessions help Friday – We are in need of volunteers with the BPA concessions this Friday for the Pace game.  This will be the biggest game of the season.  If we do not have help, we will be forced to close the concessions, which means no income to help students.  Please sign-up on CutTime ASAP.

Marching Band Performances left – After the football game, the MB&G will be involved with 3 parades.  Nov. 11 Veterans Day Parade, Dec. 7 Milton Christmas Parade, and Dec. 14 Pensacola Christmas Parade.  Please be aware that students will need to secure rides to all of these parades as we will not be providing buses.  More info on each parade will be given as those dates approach.

Semester Concerts - Mark your calendars.  We will presenting a fall concert on November 14th at 6pm in the MHS Auditorium.  This will feature the Concert Band, Blackwater Beats Jazz Band, and Symphonic Band.  We will be performing themes from our favorite movies. Our Christmas Concert will take place on December 12th at 6:30pm.  Come on out and get into the season for this FREE concert.

That is all for now.  I hope you have a wonderful week!
