All-State Auditions - FBA All-State auditions will be on Saturday, September 12th here at MHS.  We need student help for this.  We have posted a sign-up in the locker room with various times and positions for that day.  Volunteer hours can be earned with this. 


HypeRaise Credits - All HypeRaise credits have been posted on CutTime. Remember, students receive 85% of the total donation per student.


Lumpia - Don't forget that the lumpia fundraiser is currently taking place. We have extra order forms in the front of the band hall if you run out. Don't forget to ask your teachers and especially the front office staff! Orders and money are due on September 16th.


Letterman Jackets - Jerry Hester from Hess awards will be doing fittings on THURSDAY, September 10th, during all band classes, in BAND ROOM. Order now for delivery in less than 6 weeks! It will come in in time for all fall events, and the first cold football Friday. Hess Awards has made it easy to order your jacket online at their website https://www.hessawards.com/milton-fl.  When ordering online please use the sizing chart on their website as it is very accurate. We will have order forms. If now is not a good time to order, please keep link above to order at any time. See attachment for more details.


Band Trip - The Band trip this year is currently being planned for the week of March 15-19 (the week before Spring Break). This year's destination is to our nation's capital, Washington DC. We will be busing there and back. We will be offering tours of the Smithsonian Museums, Arlington National Cemetery, and hopefully, the Capital Building. We will have a trip meeting on September 10th at 7pm to go over everything and answer all questions. This is not a required trip. It is simply an offering for students and parents. We will be using Orchestrated Adventures as our trip planners. Mr. Sean Hammond will be with us at that meeting as well. Full Uniforms Friday...Weather Pending - All Bibbers have been delivered to the band hall. We will distribute these on Monday. Guard, please make sure you have deposited $225 into your accounts into your band accounts to receive your uniform. Talk with Mr. Schultz or Ms. Boyd individually if there are financial issues. If the weather holds out, we will be in full uniform on Friday. We will keep everyone posted as the week progresses.

Show Shirt Designs - It is time to start the show shirt designs for this year. Each year, we take student-made submissions for the halftime show shirts. These designs are voted on by all band students, then sent to be professionally touched up and placed on black shirts. Here are some requirements for these designs:

• Show title - Darkness Unleashed
• Year - 2026-27
• Your name on the back page of design
• Everything else is up to you
• Submissions are due by August 26th.

Great job during the first week of school and at our first game!


Rehearsals This Week - We will only have one rehearsal since the game is on a Thursday.  Tuesday rehearsal will be 6pm-9pm instead of 8:30.  Please adjust calendars accordingly.  


AWAY Event Checkout and Parking - See below for important information about procedures for any AWAY event for the band! These procedures are non-negotiable.

• Checkout procedures - Students must have a note from a parent to give to the head chaperone (Ashley Preston) or the band directors BEFORE we depart. At the end of the game, we will march back to the band truck and dismiss. At that point, students will need to go back to their bus with the chaperones and grab belongings. After that, they will meet the head chaperone, Mrs. Preston, at BUS 1 along with their person giving them a ride and checkout with her. Yes, you will need to walk or drive across campus to meet at bus 1.  Understand, this procedure is to ensure the safety of all students. If students or parents fail to abide by this procedure, they will forfeit their participation in away events with the band.
• Parking at Milton HS for away games - CLICK HERE for a map of our campus showing the band hall and math west buildings.  On this map, you will see areas that are circled indicating a no parking zone.  When we return from away events, it is vital to keep those areas clear so we can unload and dismiss as soon as possible.  We have to be able to back the band trucks in to their spots and pull the buses into the drop-off area.  Understand that if you park in the parking spots next to the bus pick-up/drop-off area, you may have to wait for the buses to leave before you can depart.  We will unload both trucks and get all instruments into the band room before we dismiss.  No student is to leave until the band dismisses inside the band room.  
• We send the trucks back before the buses. Parents, please help unload the trucks once they arrive back at MHS. This will help to make dismissal quicker for students.

Post Night Event Ride Waiting Info - Students, it is IMPERATIVE that all students wait at the band hall for your ride! DO NOT walk off campus or even walk to the entrance of the parking lot at night. You can wait inside or right out front of the band hall, in the lighted area. We, the directors, always stay after every night time event until the last student is picked up from the band hall. If students walk off campus, we cannot watch and make sure students are safe. Parents, please make sure you communicate with your students the importance of this matter! Also, we will communicate as best we can when we will be dismissing from these events. Please make sure you arrive quickly so your kiddo does not have to wait.


East Milton ES Pep Rally - We have been asked to perform Friday August 21st at East Milton ES. We need all leadership for this and invite anyone else that can get a ride over for this. The meeting time at East Milton is 7:30am. This is a great time to show off for our future panthers!

Lumpia Fundraiser - We will be kicking off the Lumpia fundraiser this week. Students will be able to make $5 per bag of lumpia sold. These are hand-rolled and our own recipe. All orders are due by September 16th. Lumpia will be delivered before Thanksgiving, on October 29th.

WELCOME BACK TO SCHOOL!! We are excited to start the school year! I hope you are as well.  The first day of school is always a great restart.  Remember, you start the year with a clean slate.  What will it be by May.  Only you can decide.  The year will be what you make it. Good luck to all and remember, we are here to help.


Assistant Band Director - We are so happy to welcome Ms. Heather Boyd to the MB&G Family. She is eager to get things rolling with our students! She brings a wealth of passion and knowledge. Please make sure you introduce yourself to her. Ms. Boyd wants to learn about each and every one of you. We are glad to have her aboard! :-)


Marching Band Rehearsals - We will begin normal rehearsals this week. These are Tuesdays 6pm-8:30 and Thursdays 4pm-7pm.  We may vary these rehearsals depending on circumstances that may arise, i.e. Thursday games, weather, necessity, etc. In these events, we will communicate well ahead of time.


Attendance - It is VITAL that all students are at all rehearsals and performances! The band is negatively affected when students are absent.  A big portion of the band grade, be it marching, concert, indoor, or more, is attendance.  Students will receive a zero in the gradebook for each absence.  Depending on the situation, students may make up these absences with an assignment given by the directors.  This could be a one hour practice session at the band room outside of normal rehearsal times,  an essay, pass-offs, etc.  Remember, while performances are required, they are also earned and a privilege.  Directors reserve the right to deny performances for any student if deemed that the student is not holding up to the standards and responsibilities of the band; this does include in other classrooms as well.  To put it simply, just be present and prepared.


MHSBPA Monthly Meeting - Tuesday at 7 pm is our monthly BPA Parent Meeting. It will be held in the Band Hall for now. Lots of information this month about upcoming events.


Wind Concert Instruments - All wind concert and marching instruments must be returned for class on Monday! Makes sure all keys, buttons, valves, and slides are oiled and ready to go.


HypeRaise - If you have not done so already, you need to make sure you have setup your HypeRaise account and add your contacts. We officially started this fundraiser last week and it is already off and running. See attached for details. Also, make sure you post this link on all of your socials:

Lumpia Fundraiser - We will be kicking off our lumpia fundraiser the second week of school.  our BPA committee has been meeting weekly to prepare 40,000+ hand-rolled lumpia.  This is also our very own recipe.  Go ahead and get the word out now.

WELCOME BACK!!! It is hard to believe that school will begin in just one more week! Teacher planning is this week along with a few band events.  Please look over everything carefully. 


Assistant Director - First of all, THANK YOU to everyone that filled out the questionnaire that I sent out last week. I read through each and every one of the responses. We have had several candidates apply for the position and have interviewed six individuals. I am hoping to have a decision made by Wednesday. I am eager to introduce our new family member of the MB&G, whomever that may be.


Marching Band Rehearsals - We return with marching band rehearsals this week.  Our normal rehearsals during the school year are Tuesdays 6pm-8:30 and Thursdays 4pm-7pm.  We may vary these rehearsals depending on circumstances that may arise, i.e. Thursday games, weather, necessity, etc. In these events, we will communicate well ahead of time. Every burger, pizza, appetizer, and dessert helps provide opportunities for our incredible student musicians.


Open House/Rehearsal - This Thursday, MHS will host and open house 5:30pm-7pm.  We have adjusted the rehearsal time to allow students to attend this.  We encourage all students to attend the open house and meet your teachers along with figuring out your path to get to classes.  We will have rehearsal 7pm-9pm that night.  Please make sure you start wrapping everything up in time to be ready to go at 7pm. 


BPA Concessions Help - Our first home Football Game is Friday August 14th for the Kickoff classic against PHS. We are still in need of several volunteers to help out in concessions so it can be a success. If you can help out please sign up on CutTime.


Blackwater Classic Help - Blackwater classic volunteer opportunities are now on CutTime for October 3rd. If you would like to help at the classic, please go into CutTime and sign up. There are several shifts for most jobs, so please look through all of them. If you have any questions contact Arlene Wires at (850)910-5636.


HypeRaise - We have been delaying to official start of the HypeRaise fundraiser. We will begin sending out message blasts next Tuesday around 6pm. In the mean time, we still have several student that have not added an adult helper and also have not uploaded at least 15 contacts. Please login to your HypeRaise app and take care of this BEFORE Tuesday! Mr. Santos will be here Tuesday to answer any questions on that day.


Senior Night - Just a heads up to all Seniors; Senior night will be at the game on September 25th. Make sure you start planning now.
