All students will need to check their orders and sign that they received the correct number of bags. Band/Indoor Fees - We need all band and indoor fees paid in full ASAP. You can bring in cash or check and put in the moneybox in front of the band office or pay online by CLICKING HERE. The list of all students that owe was sent to the front office this past week. I also sent statements home with students. Please get these paid ASAP. All fee must be paid before the band banquet on May 11th. Rehearsals this week - Please take special note of rehearsals this week. All Rehearsals are mandatory as always. Concert Band is Monday, Symphonic is Tuesday, Marching and Indoor groups are Thursday. Students who do not attend rehearsals will run the risk of not being able to perform on Friday. Band Day - On Tuesday April 30th, we will welcome all of our potential new members of the MB&G. Students will need to wear summer uniforms (Band shirt and blue jeans). All students will need to report to the band room at 1:30 to grab your marching and concert instruments then go to the auditorium. We will practice what we can before the new students arrive. Band day will officially kickoff at 3pm. Pizza and drinks will be served around 4:30ish over at the band room. We should be wrapping up the event around 6:30. Guard Audition Camp - Anyone interested in joining our colorguard will need to make plans to attend the guard audition camp April 30th-May 12nd 6pm-9pm. Again, students, we need your help in getting the word out to anyone interested. This could be current MHS students or an upcoming freshman. Percussion Audition Camp - The percussion audition camp is also just around the corner on April 30th-May 12nd 6pm-9pm. Any student interested in playing percussion must attend this camp. Understand that camp attendance does not mean you will automatically be put on percussion. This is required for all potential percussion students, both current and new. Step-off Rehearsal - Just a heads up, we will have the first rehearsal of the 2023-24 marching band on Wednesday, May 15th 6pm-8:30. This rehearsal is required by all returning and future members of the MB&G. Rookie Camp - Also just a heads up, Rookie Camp will be May 28th-31st 8am-Noon. Transition to CutTime - Over the next month, we will be transitioning to a new communications tool called CutTime. CutTime actually bought Charms. We are gathering all of the info and creating accounts just like we did with Charms. All calendars, finances, communications and more will be done through CutTime. I will be sending a list of book tags to the front office this week. Meat Sticking - This Monday is our second mass meat sticking of the year. all students are required to participate. Symphonic Band will begin 6th period, then everyone will join after school. If we get after it, we should be done by 6pm. This is a vital sticking as it will get us restocked for Riverfest as well as the beginning of football season. I want to thank all of our parents and students who have organized and participated in various smaller meat stickings this year. This helped keep things in stock and kept the amount of mass stickings down so we can keep rehearsals scheduled. Recruiting Trips - This week, we will have 3 band recruiting trips at various elementary schools. These trips are intended to get students excited to be a part of this wonderful journey we call band beginning at the middle school level. Students signed up in the band room. The schedule is below. Please wear your band shirts and bring your instruments. This is an awesome opportunity for our students in conjunction with Schmidt's Music to open up the doors of music for the next generation. Thank you to all of the students that signed up. MHSBPA Monthly Meeting - This Tuesday is a VERY important BPA meeting. We will be voting for the 2024-25 BPA Board. Nominations are still open. Please submit any names you would like to nominate. All positions are open for election: President, 1st VP, 2nd VP, Secretary, Assist Secretary, Treasurer, Assist Treasurer, and one trustee position. Nominations will close upon voting. You must be present at the meeting in order to be able to vote. We will also be talking about several business items including band banquet and more. Staff vs Students Pep Band - This Thursday is the Staff vs Students basketball game. Several teachers and staff have been challenged to face off against the basketball team in a fundraising event in the gym. You will see some VERY familiar faces including Mr. Short, Katrina Dawson, and some guy named Schultz at this and probably get a good laugh out of it too. We would like to have a pep band play at this. We will have a sign up sheet ready on Monday. Concert band students will need to wait to join until after your rehearsal is finished. The signup is open to all band students. Tickets for the event are $5. Tri-M Talent Show - This Friday is the Tri-M Talent Show. Come see all of the amazing talents from various students at Milton High School. These talents range from singing to comedy and much more. Students will be judged by a panel of judges, The winning act will win $100. Tickets for the event are $1 at the door. Welcome back and Happy Easter! I hope everyone has had a wonderful and relaxing Spring Break. We are now in the home stretch to the end of the school year. Believe it or not, we only have 1.5 months left! We have lots of events taking place every week. Please make sure you stay up to date with everything. FBA State Solo & Ensemble - We had 5 students participate in the 2024 FBA State Solo & Ensemble MPA. All five of them earned superior ratings. We are very proud of the fact that these students participated in this event! They really went above and beyond musically! FBA Concert MPA - OUTSTANDING JOB TO ALL!! We are so proud of the Concert and Symphonic bands for 2 wonderful performances at FBA Concert MPA. The Concert Band earned an excellent rating. The Symphonic Band earned overall superior ratings for the night. Thank you to the parents that helped chaperon and/or drive the truck. 8th Grade Showcase - Tuesday is the 8th grade showcase. The Marching Band and Winterguard will be performing for this. All students will need to meet in the band room at 9:15am. Please try to wear summer uniform. If you are in another club or organization, you can wear that shirt if you wish. Guard will need to wear indoor uniforms. Indoor Showcase - This Thursday, the Black Gold Percussion Ensemble, Blackwater Beats Jazz Band, and Winterguard will be giving a FREE performance in the gym at 7pm. If you have not seen any of these groups, come on out and enjoy a great night of entertainment. MHSBPA Meeting/Nominations - This Tuesday we will have the March meeting for the BPA at 7pm in room 131. We are taking nominations for the 2024-25 BPA Board. The lumpia committee is in full force this week with 2 scheduled rollings on Tuesday and Thursday 4pm-7pm. We need your help to roll all 10,000 rolls of lumpia sold for the recent fundraiser.
