Michael Schultz - Director of Bands
Mr. Schultz is the Head band director at Milton High School. He teaches the Symphonic Band, Blackwater Beats Jazz Band, and runs the Mighty Black & Gold Marching Band. He has been teaching at Milton High School since July 2010.
Before Mr. Schultz came to MHS, He attended The University of Southern Mississippi where he earned a bachelor’s degree in music education. While at USM, he studied Tuba under Dr. Richard Perry and conducting under Dr. Steve Moser and Dr. Thomas Fraschillo. “Southern Miss,….TO THE TOP!”
Mr. Schultz is originally from the Cantonment (Pensacola), FL area where he attended Wedgewood Middle School and Tate High School. He played tuba under the late Lawrence Young Sr. at Wedgewood and both Joe Hooten and Kevin Connell at Tate.
He is a member of the Florida Bandmaster’s Association, the Florida Music Educators Association; National Association for Music Educators, and the National Band Association and an honorary member of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia.

Bryce Coots - Assistant Band Director
Bryce Coots serves as the Assistant Director of Bands at Milton High School. He teaches Concert Band, the Blackwater Beats Jazz Band, and assists directing the Mighty Black and Gold Marching Band. Prior to his current appointment, Bryce taught at Roulhac Middle School in Chipley, FL, and at Escambia High School in Pensacola, FL.
Mr. Coots graduated Magna Cum Laude from the Florida State University in 2020, where he performed with its premier ensembles including, but not limited to, Marching Chiefs, Saxophone Orchestra, and Wind Ensemble.
Mr. Coots is originally from the Cantonment (Pensacola), FL area where he attended Ransom Middle School and Tate High School.
Bryce currently holds membership within the Florida Music Educators Association, Florida Bandmasters Association, and the National Association for Music Education. Bryce has also been awarded membership into the Pi Kappa Lambda music honor society.
