The Mighty Black & Gold Marching Band
The Mighty Black & Gold Marching Band is the most visible and diverse part of our band program. It consists of 160+ members including winds, percussion, and colorguard. They perform at all football games most Friday nights in the fall as well as various marching band competitions. The Mighty Black & Gold has constantly earned Superior rating at the Florida Bandmasters Association district 1 marching music performance assessment. They have also scored high rankings at competitions such as the Gulf Coast Invitational at Biloxi High School, Mississippi and the Troy University SEUS Marching Band Festival. They perform at other various events throughout the southeast.
This group begins a rigorous schedule of learning to march and play around the beginning of June during what is known as Rookie Camp. Here, new students are "shown the ropes" of our program by our select students leaders The summer schedule culminates with 2 weeks of band camp at the end of July and beginning of August. ALL students who wish to be members of the Mighty Black & Gold Marching Band are required to participate in Rookie camp during there first year of membership.
