Welcome back and Happy Easter! I hope everyone has had a wonderful and relaxing Spring Break.  We are now in the home stretch to the end of the school year.  Believe it or not, we only have 1.5 months left! We have lots of events taking place every week.  Please make sure you stay up to date with everything.  

FBA State Solo & Ensemble - We had 5 students participate in the 2024 FBA State Solo & Ensemble MPA.  All five of them earned superior ratings.  We are very proud of the fact that these students participated in this event! They really went above and beyond musically! Please congratulate the following students:
Logan Campbell & Averi Odom - Clarinet Duet - Superior
Josiah Hall - Clarinet Solo & Tenor Sax Solo - Superior
Coda Turner - Euphonium Solo - Superior
Ciana Antonio - Clarinet Solo - Superior

Indoor Groups - If you have yet to see our indoor groups, you are really missing out.  They have also had outstanding performances these past few months at competitions, including this past Saturday.  You have one final chance to see them at Tate HS this Saturday for the GCGPC Championships.  See performance times below.  Tickets are $10 at the door.  Come on out let's cheer for our guard and percussion.

Pensacola Jazz Fest - The Blackwater Beats will be performing at Pensacola Jazz Fest this Sunday at 11am in Seville Square in Downtown Pensacola.  This is a FREE performance and all are welcome to bring a chair and sit and listen to some wonderful jazz groups.  The first school performs at 10am.  Jazz students are to report at 10am as well.  

Band/Indoor Fees - We need all band and indoor fees paid in full ASAP.  You can bring in cash or check and put in the moneybox in front of the band office or pay online by CLICKING HERE. 

Spring Concert - Everyone is invited and encouraged to come out and show your support for all of our students Friday, April 26th in the Gym and Auditorium.  The whole concert will begin at 6pm in the gym with our Winterguard and Indoor Percussion groups.  Then we will transfer to the Auditorium to hear the rest of our groups at 7pm.  This is a totally FREE event.  Please come out and enjoy the year in review from all of our wonderful students.

Band Banquet - The Charles Bud Bell Band Banquet is Saturday, May 11th 4:30pm-9pm at the MHS Gym. There will be social time starting at 4:30pm-7pm. This will include music, dance floor, photo opportunities and lots and lots of food and drink. ALL band students are invited and this is FREE for all BAND Students. If the students would like to bring a friend or date, whom is not in band to the social time, and they are a student, they must purchase a ticket to help with the cost of extra food and drinks for guests. If any adult would like to attend the social time, they must purchase a ticket for them as well. Again to cover the cost of extra food. Prices will be announced soon. Please plan to dress formal/semi-formal. This will be the last weekly update for a couple of weeks.  I hope all of you have a wonderful, safe, and fun Spring Break! We look forward to seeing everyone again on the backside.

Band/Indoor Fees - We need all band and indoor fees paid in full ASAP.  You can bring in cash or check and put in the moneybox in front of the band office or pay online by CLICKING HERE. 

Band trip - ITS CRUISE WEEK! All our bags are packed and we're ready to go! We will be heading out bright and early on Monday.  Make sure you turn in your official birth certificates/Passports and ID's BEFORE we leave! The band room will be open today at 6pm-8pm to drop everything off along with luggage. Also, don't forget $2 per checked luggage.  

Leadership Info - We have opened up all 2024-25 leadership team info.  You can access it by CLICKING HERE.  Please be aware that we have added a pre-leadership camp for all applicants on April 13th.  This is required by all applicants but is also open to anyone that would like to attend.  All forms are due by Friday, April 26th. 

Senior Info - The BPA Scholarship application as well as the Last Wills directions were passes out last week.  You can access these documents by CLICKING HERE.  All forms are due by Friday, April 26th.

FBA Concert MPA - OUTSTANDING JOB TO ALL!! We are so proud of the Concert and Symphonic bands for 2 wonderful performances at FBA Concert MPA. The Concert Band earned an excellent rating.  The Symphonic Band earned overall superior ratings for the night.  Thank you to the parents that helped chaperon and/or drive the truck.  

​8th Grade Showcase - Tuesday is the 8th grade showcase.  The Marching Band and Winterguard will be performing for this.  All students will need to meet in the band room at 9:15am.  Please try to wear summer uniform.  If you are in another club or organization, you can wear that shirt if you wish.  Guard will need to wear indoor uniforms.

Indoor Showcase - This Thursday, the Black Gold Percussion Ensemble, Blackwater Beats Jazz Band, and Winterguard will be giving a FREE performance in the gym at 7pm.  If you have not seen any of these groups, come on out and enjoy a great night of entertainment.  

MHSBPA Meeting/Nominations - This Tuesday we will have the March meeting for the BPA at 7pm in room 131.  We are taking nominations for the 2024-25 BPA Board.  If you would like to nominate someone or if you would like to nominate yourself, please email me or fill out the form at the meeting. 

Lumpia Committee - Calling all parents.  The lumpia committee is in full force this week with 2 scheduled rollings on Tuesday and Thursday 4pm-7pm.  We need your help to roll all 10,000 rolls of lumpia sold for the recent fundraiser.  All you have to do is show up and we'll show you the rest.  This will be in room 131 Math West.  

Band Trip - We will have our final band trip meeting Monday at 6:30pm in the band room.  We will be going over all final information.  This Sunday, we will be opening the band room at 6pm to drop-off all paperwork and luggage.  Please make sure you have your birth certificate or passport and a government ID. If you missed the other meetings, you can access all of the information on our trip page by CLICKING HERE.

FBA Concert MPA - Here we are! We are in the final week of FBA MPA season.  This Friday is the FBA Concert MPA performances for the Concert and Symphonic Bands at Ft. Walton Beach HS.  The full itinerary is below.  We will wear our uniforms minus gauntlets, gloves, and helmets.  Make sure you bring your bibbers, BLACK socks, and Bando shoes.  Please note that we will be feeding the bands instead of taking students to the normal restaurants this time because of the performance times.  The Concert Band performs at 6pm and the Symphonic Band at 8pm.  This concert is FREE.  come on out and support our students.

Indoor Groups - Congratulations to the Winterguard and Black Gold Percussion Ensemble for 2 outstanding performances this past Saturday at Choctaw HS .  The next performance will also be the last one for these groups for the competitions season.  This will be on April 6th at Tate HS.  Make plans now to come out and see these wonderful students! 

Lumpia FR -  The lumpia FR is due this Wednesday by the end of school.  All order forms and money MUST be turned in on this day. CLICK HERE for a copy of the lumpia form to this email.

Band Trip - Believe it or not, we only have 15 days till we set sail! If you have not done so already, you need to get an official birth certificate and a government ID card.  Do this now or you will run the risk of not being able to board the boat.  We will have one final trip meeting on Monday the 11th at 6:30pm.  This is a required meeting for all participants.  Please make plans to attend.  We will be going over all last minute information for the trip.  If you missed the other meetings, you can access all of the information on our trip page by CLICKING HERE.
