 Announcing the first annual University of West Florida High School Honor Band to be held February 27-29, 2020 in the Center for Fine and Performing Arts on the Mainstage Theatre. The guest conductor will be Dr. Courtney Snyder, Associate Director of Bands and Assistant Professor of Conducting at the University of Michigan.

The 47th Annual Southeastern United States Concert Band Clinic and HONOR BANDS will be held January 30 - February 1, 2020 on the Troy University campus in Troy, Alabama. This musical event will feature a variety of activities including concerts, rehearsals, scholarship auditions, and clinics. Honor Band participants will be selected based upon their musical achievements, the director’s confidential recommendation, and the Honor Bands instrumentation. The list of students selected to participate in the 2020 SEUS Honor Bands will be available on the SEUS webpage by mid-December.

I hope this email finds you well and enjoying a restful weekend. At this point you should've received both and emailed band statement as well as a hard copy of of your band statement that was sent home with students. Please look these over carefully. We are in desperate need of fair shares to be up to date. We have updated everything in Charms as well as added all volunteer incentives at the printing of those statements. The only thing that has not been charged out is the school instrument rental charge of $50. All students playing a school-owned instrument will owe $50 to the band to go towards repairs and upkeep of those instruments. Again, please get these up to date now! The All County honor band auditions will take place at Milton High School next Monday all Symphonic and Concert band students are required to audition as well as any percussion who wish to have a chance to be in symphonic or concert band. I will be posting an audition schedule this week in the band room. Finally, please make sure you look at the Veterans Day parade schedule below carefully. Remember, this is a REQUIRED performance. Any absence regardless of reason will need to be made up as per the band absence policy. That is all for now. I hope you have a super week! We were informed on Friday that we had three Milton HS Band Students who were selected for the Florida All-State Ensembles this January in Tampa, Florida. We had about 12 top students audition for All-State back in September. These three students were selected:
Andres Diaz (9th) - Flute - All-State Concert (9th & 10th) Orchestra (means that he was in the top four 9th-10th grade flute players in the state!) Savannah Morris (9th) - Flute - All-State Concert (9th & 10th) Band Jordan Caasi (10th) - Alto Sax - All-State Concert (9th & 10th) Band This is a HUGE accomplishment for these students to be selected! They auditioned and were selected among hundreds of Florida’s top musicians that auditioned on the same instrument for just a handful of spots. Please be sure to congratulate these students if you see them! Go Panthers! |
