Hello All,

What an exciting week we have in store this week! This Friday, our students get to finally show off an entire year's worth of hard work at the 2017 Spring Concert Extravaganza.  This is a free concert and will be in the MHS Auditorium beginning at 6:30pm and will move to the gym for the winter guard and indoor percussion groups.  The entire Mighty Black & gold band program will be in performance. Please tell everyone you know to come out and enjoy this grande evening!

On Monday, Mr. Don Snowden from PSC will be here to audition any senior who would like to continue playing your instrument at PSC and possibly receive a scholarship.  Seniors, your BPA Scholarship Applications are due this Friday as well.

Anyone interested in joining the color guard next year is encouraged to come out to the color guard audition camps each day this week from 6pm to 8:30.  Anyone is eligible.  I have attached a copy of the flier that was sent out to all of the incoming 9th graders with all of the information.

Finally, it is highly important that everyone attends all rehearsals this week as these the last times we will have a chance to put in the final details for the concert.  That being said, student, if you miss a rehearsal this week, you will not be able to perform in that portion of the concert on Friday.  You will notice that the marching band will meet for one final rehearsal this Thursday 3:45-5:30.  We will be going over the routine for Friday as well as revealing the 2017 Halftime show! We would like all members of the marching band including color guard to be present in the band room at 3:45.

Have a fabulous week!

Hello All,

Can you believe that we are only 1 month away from the end of the school year?? I honestly cannot! This time of year is such a bitter-sweet moment, but necessary.  As everything draws closer, try not to forget about the various paperwork deadlines coming up:

BPA Band Scholarship - May 5th
Leadership Applications - May 11th
Band Favorites to be voted on - by May12
Last Wills - May 12th
Letter/Bar Applications - May 12

All of these deadlines are absolute.  Please make sure you look over each of the papers thoroughly to verify that you have filled it out correctly and didn't miss anything.  Also, please make sure all absences are rectified via the absence appeal forms in front of the money box by May 12th.  One or more unexcused absences will nullify the letter/bar application.

This weekend, we will be host to Southwind Drum & Bugle Corp out of Mobile.  This will be a wonderful opportunity for students, or anyone else, to come observe how a full-fledged drum corp rehearses.  They will be learning drill, guard routines, having sectionals and other activities.  Again, this is just for observation not for us to perform with them.  As soon as we get a rehearsal schedule from them, we will send it out to all of our students.  I encourage students to come out and watch and learn!

Please continue to make get all charms accounts up-to-date! We have sent out statements via hard copies and emails and have had many fair shares turned in.  All accounts must be paid in full by the end of the school year, before rookie camp.

Last but not least, The spring concert extravaganza is just around the corner on May 5th at 6:30.  Start getting the word out as all of our students have been working incredibly hard and you do not want to miss them showing off what they have been doing.  All groups are playing some fantastic music, plus this will be the last time that our halftime show will be in performance for the public. Please make plans to attend!.

Hello All,

What a great day Saturday was! Thank you first and foremost to everyone who helped at the Crawfish festival! I heard several complements from visitors and vendors about how nice and helpful everyone was.  A huge shout and thank you to our wonderful committee for helping to put this together! Kelly Henrichsen, Bill Gallaway, Sandie Kennedy, Tomena Rollo, Rhonda Harris, Andrea Mosley, Victoria Marcus, Carolyn Rogers, Ray Gentry and Candy McQuyre, THANK YOU! The number of visitors were down compared to last year but I think we still came out on top.  We will hopefully have final numbers on Tuesday at the BPA Monthly meeting.  Shout out to the Blackwater Beats Jazz Band for an awesome performance as well!

Speaking of BPA Meetings, please come out to the Monthly meeting this Tuesday at 7pm as we will be voting on the new board for next year.  The BPA will still take nominations right up until the vote, so if you would like to run or if you think of a current band parent that would be good for one of the BPA positions, please come to the meeting and place your nominations.

Last week we sent statments home with all students that still owe fair shares to the band.  If your child did not give this to you, you can look it up under their account on charms or you can email us and we will send it to you.  We have several students that owe quite a bit of fair share.  We need this payed off ASAP! Remember, what does it take to make this band go.....Pride, yes, but in all actuality, money.  Until the county decides to pay all of our bills, we have to rely on these fair shares to continue to do what we do.

That is all for now.  Have a wonderful week!
