Hello All,

Congratulations on completing the first week of school for 2020-21! I hope all of you are now settled in to the new school year with all the temporary routines.  Thank you all for pushing forward and upward with everything that is thrown in our way! Keep it up.

A big shout out and thank you to all of our volunteers who have helped out with the Band Parent Association the past couple of weeks selling concessions and cleaning at the various events! Thank you for continuing to do what it takes to help our students!

8/20/2020

Hello All,

In lieu of a mass email for this week's update from the MB&G, we will be hosting a Zoom meeting this Sunday, August 23rd at 5pm.  We would like EVERY MEMBER of the Milton High Band program to be in attendance along with parents if at all possible.  We will be discussing the temporary morning band hall guidelines, lunches in the band room, towels, class procedures, and much much more! We will also be discussing FOOTBALL GAMES and marching band guidelines and what we currently know about that.  We figured this would be easier than sending a 20 page email haha. Please follow the link below for this meeting:

Hello All,

I hope this email finds you doing well.  I want to thank all of you for your hard work this past week during our rehearsal and guard camps!  It was so nice to see everyone throughout each day!

The FHSAA has decided to give the green light for football season to start.  According to the FHSAA, games can start as early as September 4th, but school districts can also create their own schedules.  I imagine our first game won't take place until the week of September 11th or the following week.  There will be a coaches meeting on Monday which will include all of the coaches from Escambia, Santa Rosa, and eventually Okaloosa counties.  They will be deciding on how to move forward.  After that, the counties will be determining the guidelines for games, i.e. fan capacity, bands and cheerleader capacity, etc.  Which will also help determine band concert guidelines.  We are hoping to have all of these questions answered by the end of the week, but this is not a guarantee.  Of course we will communicate everything we know as soon as we get word.

With this in mind, we have decided to cancel this week's rehearsal day so we can tweak things for the 25th and beyond.  All pep bands and colorguard will meet 4pm-6pm on Tuesday the 25th and every Tuesday after that so far.  We will still be utilizing the pep band format, however, we have worked things out to where all individual sections will be able to meet as a whole! We are hoping that we will soon be able to rehearse as a full band.  Keep your fingers crossed!

The BPA is in need of help to clean the concession stand at the football field this Saturday in anticipation for games to begin.  Please use the link below to sign up.  All help is appreciated.

That is all for now.  I hope you enjoy your final week off before school begins :-)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to the following students according to Charms:

Madison Saterfield - Today (Sunday)
Abram Wimmer - Thursday

This Week:

8/6/2020

Hey guys and gals,

Our leadership team has put together our dress-up days for our rehearsal camp for next week.  Traditionally, we would have had these days at band camp, but...you know.  So we will do this next week.  This is totally optional, however, the section with the highest percentage of folks that dress up by the end of the week, will win a prize :-) This will be announced at the Tuesday rehearsal on the 18th.  Here are the dress up days for next week:

Monday - Tropical Day
Tuesday - Tye Dye
Wednesday - Country
Thursday - Punk/Rock...or maybe punk rock haha.

See you guys then!
