Today we say our goodbyes to yet another class that has graced our halls here at the band room at Milton High School. Goodbyes are NEVER easy, but we know that this sin't really goodbye. It's more like...until we meet again. You have done Mr. Weaver and I so proud over your years with us. You are about to go off on another adventure in this life. An adventure full of extraordinary possibilities. So many doors have swung wide open with infinite amount of rooms to explore. What path will you choose? Get it into this world and "seize the day". It's yours for the taking if you just keep pushing yourselves. You've proven that nothing will stop you as long as you stay strong and have each other. We cannot wait to see the great things you are about to do. I have one final request,......MAKE A POSITIVE IMPACT ON THIS WORLD. And now with the famous words from your home at the band room:
"Before you leave the band room for the last time, stop and take a look around for just one moment. These four walls have seen you at your worst and at your best. They have watched families created and fall apart. They have seen love between two people and one sided crushes. They have seen your most joyous days and maybe melancholy ones. They have seen the person you were when you walked in for the first time and now have seen the person you are for the last time. And when you turn back around and walk through the halls for the never last time, know that those walls are silently weeping and maybe you are too, because you both have realized that in order to go somewhere in life, you must leave home." Hello All,
Can you believe that this is the final week of school for 2018-19!! I hope everyone enjoys their final week. We had an outstanding first rehearsal last week. If you missed this rehearsal, no worries. The second rehearsal also known as the downbeat rehearsal is this Thursday at 6pm. This is for all new and returning marching band students. If you are new and need to be issued a school-owned instrument and will not be marching, please come to this rehearsal so we can issue this to you. These are for Tenor Sax, Bari Sax, Oboe, Bassoon, Bass Clarinet, French Horn, Trombone, Euphonium, and Tuba. You will also need to look over the audition information with dates by clicking HERE. Notice that Jazz Band auditions will take place this Thursday 4pm-6pm. This is just before the rehearsal that night. That information can be found HERE. I encourage everyone to come out and see our seniors off one last time this Tuesday night at 7pm at the MHS football field. Gates will open at 5:30. Next week is ROOKIE CAMP. This camp is for all new marching band members. Any returning member is welcome to join to "beef up" on your marching skills. Any new member needing new uniform parts will need to attend one of the uniform fittings on either the 4th or 5th after camp. These are the days the new students will be measured for uniform parts as well. Please make sure you all start getting acclimated to outside conditions before camp!
