We have several students that have not turned in an audition or turned in partial auditions.  Please get these in today ASAP.  CLICK HERE for all of the audition info.  Flipgrid can be accessed either by the Fligrid app or through your internet browser.  Make sure you sign in with your school email or a Google email.  If one of the channels is causing you issues, you can upload to the other channel.  You can also message us on Teams to submit if that doesn't work.  We can also take the audition through email.  If you email it, you may have to send a link to a cloud storage for us to access it.  Please try everything you can to get us these auditions.

For all of the new folks to the band receiving this email, this is the weekly update from the MB&G.  I send a detailed schedule at the beginning of each week  for the most part along with other info so you can be kept as up to date as possible.  More about this will be explained at the parent meeting on Thursday.

To everyone.  This will be the last weekly update until the full band meets back together in July.  We will send occasional reminders about dates as well as the band/chair placement through June.  Please keep an eye on the calendar and stay in touch with each other for all info.

Rookie Camp - It is hard to believe, but Rookie Camp is upon us.  This is required by all new members.  This is an extremely important camp as students will learn how to march and use their equipment.  All returning members are welcome to attend as well.  Please see the dates and times below.

Graduation - This Tuesday, the class of 2023 will walk across the stage in the MHS football field for the last time. I encourage everyone to come out and support our seniors one more time.  the ceremony begins at 7pm.

Wind Auditions - All wind and jazz auditions are due THIS SATURDAY.  Please CLICK HERE for more info.  We have already started receiving uploads and thank you to those students.  Please don't wait until the Saturday to upload your audition.  We will answer any questions you have about how to do this during rookie camp.  CLICK HERE for the Jazz audition info.

Audition Results - We will be working hard to listen to and evaluate all auditions after this week.  Please be patient as this process does take some time.  As soon as it is ready, we will post the lists on all MHS Band communication routes.  

New Parent/Parent Info Meeting - We will have a new parent info meeting on Thursday, May 25th at 7:30 in the Band Hall.  All New parents, please make plans to attend.  Any returning parents are welcome to attend as well.  We will be going over everything you need to know about the MHS Band and also answer any questions you may have.  We also really want to meet all of you and help you in any way we can with this transition to MHS :-)

Guard/Percussion Camps - The guard and percussion camps will take place during June.  These camps are required, however we will work with pre-scheduled event to a degree during this time.  Please communicate with us any attendance issues.  See below for dates.

Step-off Rehearsal - Monday at 6pm-8:30, we will have our first rehearsal of the 2023-24 marching band.  We are excited to welcome all of our new and returning members under one roof for the first time.  Please make sure you bring your instruments.  We will proved all marching instruments (bari saxes, percussion, sousaphones, euphoniums, mellophones). We will issue lockers and music during this rehearsal.  Wear comfortable clothes as we will be going outside at a point during this rehearsal.

Percussion Auditions - This Wednesday-Friday 7pm-9pm, we will hold percussion auditions.  All percussionists will need to attend these camps.  We will work with the King MS and Avalon MS students for their concert and band trip.  

Wind Auditions - All wind and jazz auditions are due on Saturday, May 27th.  Please CLICK HERE for more info.  We have already started receiving uploads and thank you to those students.  Please don't wait until the 27th to upload your audition.  We will answer any questions you have about how to do this during the Monday rehearsal and rookie camp.  CLICK HERE for the Jazz audition info.

Uniforms and Instruments - Just another reminder that all uniforms and instruments MUST be turned in.  I will be sending a list of students who have not turned these items in to guidance this week for book tagging.  

Rookie Camp - Rookie Camp is just around the corner.  All new students and leadership are required to attend.  The dates and times are below.  We will be outside each day so please plan accordingly in regards to temperatures.  Students must attend all 4 days.  We will have Rookie Camp rain or shine.  We do have contingencies to be inside if the weather does not cooperate.

Lots of information below.  I've tried to give you as much heads up on everything until summer break as I can.  Please make sure you are keeping an eye on our calendar for all of the up to date info. 

Spring Concert - Great job to all for an outstanding final concert! It is always such a joy to see our students showoff their talents to the world in such an extraordinary way.  I will be posting the video to our YouTube page soon.  

Leadership Interviews - All students that signed up for interview on Monday, please make sure you double check the time on the list in front of the office.  

Band Captain and Guard Captain videos - If you have not viewed the Band Captain speeches video as well as the Guard Captain solo performance video, please do so BEFORE Wednesday.  CLICK HERE for band captain.  CLICK HERE for guard captain.

Band Day - On Tuesday, we will welcome all of our potential new members of the MB&G.  Students will need to wear summer uniforms (Band shirt and blue jeans).  All students will need to report to the band room at 1:30 to grab your marching and concert instruments then go to the auditorium.  We will practice what we can before the new students arrive.  Band day will officially kickoff at 3pm.  Pizza and drinks will be served around 4:30ish over at the band room.  We should be wrapping up the event around 6:30. Parents, if you are available to help serve the food and drinks that day, please sign up by CLICKING HERE.  

Guard Auditions - The guard audition camp is this Tuesday though Thursday 6pm-8:30.  Anyone interested in joining the MHS Colorguard for the 2023-24 year MUST attend these camps. 

MHSBPA Monthly Meeting - This Tuesday is also the May meeting for the BPA.  I highly encourage all parents to attend to get all of the info for everything coming up and have any questions answered.  

Uniforms and  Instruments - All uniforms and school-owned instruments must be returned by Wednesday of this week.  Please make sure everything is cleaned and in working order before returned.  Any damaged item will be billed to the student assigned to the uniform and/or instrument.  

Band Banquet - This Saturday, we will celebrate all of our students and parent volunteers at the Charles "Bud" Bell Band Banquet in the Gym.  Festivities will begin at 5pm with social time for students as well as guests who have tickets. Food will also be available during this time.  7pm-9pm will be the awards portion and is open to everyone with or without tickets. We invite everyone out to celebrate another year of accomplishments with the MB&G.

Percussion Camp - All students interested in playing percussion during 2023-24 must attend the percussion audition camp next Wednesday through Friday.  Students will be placed on the appropriate marching band instruments and will also prepare students for the year ahead.  

Lockers Cleaned - Just a heads up that all lockers must be cleaned out by Monday, May 15th.  This is the Monday after the banquet.  Students will be reissued lockers at the rehearsal later that day.

Step-off Rehearsal - The first rehearsal of the 2023-24 marching band will take place on Monday, May 15th 6pm-8:30 in the Band Hall.  This is a required rehearsal for all returning and new students.  We will issue lockers, instruments, and music during this time.
  
Rookie Camp - Rookie camp will be in the evenings during the last week of school.  This is May 22nd, 24th, 25th 4pm-7pm and May 26th 4pm-8pm.  All new members and leadership are required to attend.  All returning members are invited as well.  It really helps our newest members when returning members attend and it also is a great time to "beef up" on technique for the new year.

Wind Auditions - All Wind auditions are due on FlipGrid by Saturday, May 27th.  Please CLICK HERE for all of the details.  Do not wait until the day they are due before you submit.  Jazz Auditions will be out soon.
