Hello All,

I want to thank everyone for your hard work at the car wash Saturday.  We ended the day cleaning a total of 219 vehicles! We will be handing out a letter that you can give to your pledgers with the individual site total along with the grand total.  Remember, they were pledging based on the total number of vehicles washed.  Please start getting these pledges to the money box ASAP.

We are now in the 2nd and final week of band camp.  Our students worked extremely hard during the first week and put almost half of the show on the field! It was a very hot but productive week and everyone pushed through to the end.  We cannot wait till you see them in performance.  I want to thank all of the parents that came up during that first week to take care of our students and keep all of us fed and watered! 

Speaking of performance, this Thursday is the 2016 Mighty Black & Gold Marching Band Preview Show.  This is a completely FREE event and hope to perform to yet another packed house at the band practice field.  Please tell everyone you know to make plans to be there.  We will begin the show at 7pm with the band set to march in just a little before then.  The BPA will also be serving hamburgers and hotdogs with items brought by the band students immediately after the show.  Printed below, you'll find what each section is to bring for this dinner.  Students, please bring items in on Thursday.

Finally, after this week, we will have one week off and then will meet back the week of August 8th -12th.  You will see several events for that week including a mass meat sticking.  This is required for all students and is a BPA incentive event for parents as well.  We will also begin the Monday, Tuesday, Thursday night rehearsals for the semester that week.  Guess what? School starts the week after that! Came up quickly didn't it? Get ready!

Come one come all to the annual Milton High School Band Car Wash tomorrow from 9am-2:15pm! Bring all the vehicles you have as this is a FREE car wash! Of course, donations are acceptable but not expected.  We will be at 6 different locations around Milton including, Milton High School, Advanced Auto Parts on Dogwood Avenue, Circle K on Ward Basin Road and Hwy 90, Ollie's on Hwy 90, Avalon Baptist Church on Avalon Blvd, and Signcrafters on Hwy 90 in Pea Ridge.

BAND CAMP IS HERE!!! :-D

That's right, we are starting the most important 2 weeks of marching season! We will start putting our show on the field each day as work out all the routines and music.  On my last email, I stated that we will be using individual coordinate sheets.  We have gone ahead and bought 250 plastic name badges with lanyards for each student to hold their coordinate sheets.  They are responsible for bringing these to every marching rehearsal.  We need everyone in tip-top shape and present everyday for camp.  You will also need to make sure that you have the proper rehearsal uniform for the outside portions.  Mostly white shirt, nonfluorescent shorts, and tennis shoes is the uniform.   

Parents, we would love to have you out as well if you can make it.  You'll notice a few volunteer opportunities during camp including the medical tent as well as Band Camp Cafe for lunch and dinner.  Please sign up on Charms if you would like to help.  

The car wash is the Saturday as well.  Students will sign up this week.  Parents, there are still open spots to fill.  Right now, no one is signed up for either shift at the Signcrafters location.  Also, no one is signed up for the afternoon shift at the Avalon Baptist location.  You can sign up directly by clickingHERE. Remember, this does go towards the BPA incentive for the fair share fees.

The Preview show in just around the corner on Thursday, July 28th at 7pm at the band practice field.  Please get the word out to all you know.  This is a free event and we will be serving food afterwards.

Hello All!

Well it is so good to be back with you after several weeks off and away! I hope your summer has been very restful and the relaxification was extensive! :-) 

We are starting back up for the season this week with two evening rehearsals for the winds and colorguard as well as percussion camp Monday-Thursday.  Hopefully everyone at this point has looked at the music at some point through the "Halftime Show" folder in charms, but if you have not, no worries, we will be hitting part 1 hard this week.  

Friday we will host the annual band lock-in/lock-out starting at 7pm Friday night and ending at 7am Saturday morning.  I have attached a complete itinerary for this event for you to look over.  Students, please make all plans to be there as you will not want to miss a fun night of relay games/CiCi's/Dreamland skating/Oops Alley bowling/UWF Swimming! We do want all students to participate. We will go over this more on Monday. The mass car wash is coming up pretty quickly on July 23rd.  Students, you will sign up for a location this week during rehearsal.  We will sign up by seniority! Parents, I sent you and email with a direct link to sign up to take lead at one of the locations earlier this week.  There are still plenty of spots available for you to help at a location.  Remember, if you sign up for the morning shift, you are in charge of getting equipment for the school to your spot.  The afternoon shift is responsible to get the equipment back to school.  You can sign up by CLICKING HERE.

Finally, Band Camp is just around the corner!! Did you hear me, BAND CAMP!! Those two weeks are the most important weeks of the marching season and attendance is absolutely REQUIRED! Please start preparing yourself by getting outside and getting acquainted with our friend, The Sun :-) Make sure you get appropriate supplies to keep yourself cool and hydrated for those two weeks.  Students, we will be trying something new this year with setting drill.  EVERYONE will get coordinate sheets with your drill spot field coordinates.  Leadership will still get drill charts.  With this addition, you will need something that is sweatproof to carry this in. A great idea for a carrier is one of those traveling money holders you wear around your neck.  We have a very limited amount that we can hand out but it will be first-come-first serve.  I will go over this further with the students on Monday as well.
