Hello All,

I hope everyone is doing well! There is not too much to report upon for this week.  The spring concert is just around the corner and all of our groups are working vigorously to prepare another fantastic show.  This concert is Friday May, 6th at 6:30 in the auditorium and is FREE.  Please start getting the word out and make plans to attend.  You don't want to miss this.  Please make note of all of the rehearsals for this concert this week and next including a marching band rehearsal Thursday, May 5th.

We are also getting things ready for next year.  Over the next few weeks, various forms will be due.  Please make sure you read through every word on each form so you don't miss out and certain items and recognition at the band banquet! I want to bring your attention to the Letter and Bar application that is due on May 13th.  You will notice that "any unexcused absence will void the application." Please make sure you check your absences on charms.  If you have any that you can show proof of the reason for absence, please make sure you turn in an absence appeal form to me by May 13th.  Also, NO FORMS WILL BE ACCEPTED AFTER THE DUE DATE.

We hope to announce next year's show very soon!

So words cannot express how thankful I am of everyone who came out and helped to make our 1st Crawfish Festival an overwhelming success!! From the students who helped to park, sold drinks, maned the kids zone, helped move equipment, and all the odds and ends, to the parents who sold the tickets, checked in the workers, watched the gates, sold the shirts, cooked the shishkabobs, and basically were there when we needed you, WE COULD NOT HAVE DONE THIS WITHOUT YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THANK YOU!!!!!!!

I want to give an even bigger thank you to my amazing committee! Kelly Henrichsen, Tony Pietsch, Rhonda Harris, Ray Gentry, Candy McGuire, Tomena Rollo, and Lisa Schofield, you are some incredibly special and hard-working individuals and we are all so blessed to have been able to use your talents to build this crawfish festival into the success that it was!

Just to give everyone some preliminary numbers from the event:
These are all estimates
- We had 1,100 pass through the gate totaling $5,500 to the BPA!
- Pastor Webb from 1st Apostolic went through 2,500 pounds of crawfish
- There was $994 worth of sales at the kids zone
- We had $138 in donations
- Adding that plus T-shirt sales, drink sale, and concessions, the BPA made almost $11,000!!!

So, as you can tell, your hard work has paid off enormously!  BTW, we didn't have a single negative report from any of our vendors....or really anyone period with the exception of when the crawfish ran out, but that was fixed pretty quickly thanks to Mr. Weaver making a tip to Mobile to pick up another 500 pounds of crawfish! Thank you Mr. Weaver!

This week you'll notice a few new things we are adding to get ready for next year, both of which are on Thursday.  First, we are giving our new and returning percussion students a hard start for next year with a percussion interest camp.  This camp will get students started with basics on both battery and front ensemble equipment so they can be ready by June instead of July.  The camp will be this Thursday, next Thursday, and Thursday, May 12th and 26th.  We are also beginning the Colorguard Audition Camps scheduled for every Thursday starting this week all the way to Thursday, May 26th.  This camp is meant to get basics in hand for both new and returning students.  The colorguard camp is open to ANY student interested in participating in guard.

This Week:

Monday
- 3:45-6pm - Concert Band Rehearsal

Tuesday
- 4pm-6:30 - Symphonic Band Rehearsal
- 5pm - Take down tent

Thursday

Hello All,

I want to thank all of you who attended the Panther Band performance and senior signing day last Tuesday night.  This was a spectacular event starting with a wonderful performance and ending with some well-deserved student recognitions.  If you don't receive the Press Gazette, you can go to their website and read the article they wrote about that night.  I also want to thank the parents who volunteered to help at Scratch Ankle and Bands on Blackwater Friday night.

This week we have a HUGE event that we need lots of help at.  The MHSBPA is hosting Milton's first Crawfish Festival on Saturday from 10am to 9pm at the band practice field.  We have 5 bands including the MHS Jazz bands performing throughout the day, 26 venders (so far), BPA shish kabobs, and awesome crawfish.  In order for this event to be a success, we need lots of parent and student help.  Parents, please sign-up on Charms for one of 3 shifts.  Student, I will post your sign-up in the band room on Monday morning.  We will give both groups your specific job upon check-in on Saturday.  All volunteers will need to go through the band room to check-in where you'll receive a special wristband and job title.

Please come to the BPA Meeting Tuesday at 7pm.  We will be going over lots of information about the festival as well as band banquet, BPA elections, and more end-of-year events!!!!!!!!!!!!

Also, we will be hosting band spirit night at Firehouse Subs on Thursday.  We have the potential of raising a lot of money simply by purchasing a meal and placing your receipt in the box at the register.  Please come out Thursday, get a delicious sandwich, and support the MHS Band!

- 3:45-6pm - Concert Band Rehearsal
