Hello All,

Welcome back and I hope everyone had an amazing Thanksgiving Break! We are ready to hit the ground running over the next two weeks with many events taking place! Please make sure you look over the calendar and itineraries very carefully!

Rehearsals this week - All of the concert ensembles as well as the colorguard will kickoff their prospective rehearsals this week and next week.  Look at the calendar below for your ensemble practice day and time.

Christmas Parade - This Saturday, the MB&G Marching Band will participate in the annual City of Milton Christmas parade.  The itinerary is below as well as what to wear and bring.  We will meet at the East side of the empty lot on James and Byrom Street.  The parade route is straight down Stewart Street from James Street and will end at Margaret Street Church of Christ near the Burger King.  Students will need to secure a ride to be picked up at the church upon dismissal.  We will gather at the band truck that will be parked at the church, then dismiss.  Students are encouraged to decorate their equipment and body, but MUST be able to perform and march.  Parents, we are in need of parade walkers to walk along the side of the band to help keep the crowd back.  Please sign up using the yellow helping hand logo on the calendar under the parade walker event.

Honey Baked Ham Fundraiser -  Before the fall break, we kicked off the Honey-Baked Ham fundraiser to all of the students.  Every student received an order form with all of the information.  Students receive 20% back on every gift card sold.  This money goes to their individual band Charms account.  I will send out this order form through eail later this week.  We also have extra forms for any students that were absent or have lost theirs.  These forms and money are due to us on Friday, December 11th.  Money is to be collected upon the customer order.

Christmas Concert Festival - The Christmas Concert Festival is quickly approaching.  It will be hosted on Thursday, December 10th at the MHS Football Stadium.  We will have 4 different food trucks ready to go at 5:30 just outside the stadium and will be there during the duration of the concert.  Bring your appetite! The concert itself will begin at 6:30 and will feature the Colorguard, Blackwater Beats Jazz Band, Panther Band, Concert Band, and Symphonic Band.  We will also feature the section Christmas Tree decorations on the field.  This concert is FREE! We will follow all safety guidelines as feasible and dictated by the county.

Section Tree Decorating Contest - Each section will have their very own tree to decorated for the tree decorating contest that will go along with the Christmas Concert Festival.  Students will need to see their leadership in their section to determine what is needed for their trees.  The decorating is scheduled to take place on Tuesday the 8th at 6:30pm until finished at the football stadium.

Band Student Christmas Party - The Band Parent Association has secured time at Sweet Seasons Farms for the band student Christmas Party on Friday, December 11th 5pm-9pm.  This is not required but is highly encouraged.  Students will need to secure their own ride to the farm.  This is open to all MHS Band students and is free of charge.  The BPA will be providing dinner.  There will be plenty of activities throughout the night including the annual kickball tournament and outside movie.  We will be following all safety guidelines as feasible! There is also a secret Santa gift exchange that students may participate.  Students will need to provide a gift that is a minimum of $5 in order to participate.  These gifts will be taken during the week of the party and no later than that Friday the 11th.

That is all for now.  I hope you have a magical week!

Good morning,

We are going to have to postpone the marching band pictures for this week.  There are soccer games occurring in the football stadium during the time we were going to take the pictures on Tuesday.  We also have several students that are participating in soccer, so we are trying to allow these students to also be able to participate in the picture.

We are looking to make these up on Thursday, December 17th at 4pm.  We will confirm this as soon as we can.  Thank you for your understanding.

Marching Band Pictures (POSTPONED TO DEC. 17th!!) - This Tues the marching will take the full band and section pictures.  Please make sure you bring your full uniforms minus helmets and gloves to school so you can change into them before 4pm.  Guard and Managers will wear this year's band shirt and blue jeans.  All students will need to bring the band masks as well just in case. After section pics, seniors and leadership will need to stay behind to take their pictures.  As soon as we are done, students may leave.

Indoor Percussion Auditions - Anyone interested in participating with indoor percussion this year must attend the audition this Thursday.  This is open to CURRENT MEMBERS ONLY.  Students must have been members of the band this semester and go through the audition process in order to be eligible for indoor percussion.

Guard Rehearsals - Starting this Monday. the guard will have weekly Monday night rehearsals 5:30-7:30 with the exception of days we are out of school.  The band room will most likely be closed between the end of school and the beginning of the rehearsals.  Please plan accordingly.

You must be able to perform and march.  Attendance is required by all marching band members.  We will meet at the empty lot at James Street and Byron Street.  Students will need to secure a ride at the end of the parade at Margaret Street Church of Christ parking lot.

Christmas Concert Festival - The MHS Band will be hosting a Christmas festival during our concert on Thursday, December 10th at the MHS football stadium.  We will have food vendors open for business at the stadium at 5:30.  The concert portion will begin at 6:30 with the Panther Band, Blackwater Beats Jazz Band, Concert Band, Symphonic Band, and Colorguard all in performance.  We ask that all audience members wear masks and social distance as feasible. Students will wear the black band uniforms minus gauntlets for this concert!

Section Tree Decorating - We will host a section war during the Christmas Festival in the form of a tree decorating contest.  We have ordered a tree for each section of the band.  The sections will be in charge of decorating their own tree with whatever decorations that are appropriate.  Lights are not required, however, we are not providing anything but the trees.  These trees will be on display around the band set up for everyone to see.  We will either have spectators judge each tree or have judges designated.  We are also still determining a prize for the winning section.  We have scheduled the tree decorating night for Tuesday, December 8th at 8pm.  Please see your section leaders for more info about your tree!

Hello All,

Concert Spooktacluar - THANK YOU ALL FOR AN AMAZING PERFORMANCE! Thank you to all who attended either in person or virtually! Thank you to the BPA for the wonderful candies for the students.  Our students were an amazing shining light for our community this past Thursday and we could not be prouder of them! If you missed our performance, you can CLICK HERE and watch it on YouTube.

Homecoming Week - This is the next busiest week for the marching band.  Please make sure you look closely at the schedules below and what to wear and when to be there.  Luckily, this week isn't as busy as what it normally is, however, all performances and rehearsals are vital.

Volunteers Needed - Parents, there are several volunteer opportunities this week.  We are in need of lots of help and support for the MB&G.  Parade walkers, Football concession workers, Sweet Season Farms Sales, Band Chaperones, all of these are very important and needed this week.  Please CLICK HERE to access our calendar and click on the yellow helping hand symbol to sign-up.  Thank you in advance!

Dress-up Rehearsal/Medallion Ceremony - This Tuesday may be our last marching band rehearsal for football season depending on how the game goes this Friday and next Friday.  Students are welcome to dress up in their favorite costume.  Students must be able to play and march in these costumes.  During this same time slot, we will hold the annual year medallion ceremony in which we celebrate the accomplishments of our students successfully completing another marching season.  Parents are welcome to see the costumes and watch the ceremony.  All will take place at the stadium.

Year medallions - I do want to make everyone aware that there was a shipping error from the manufacturer for the year medallions.  They sent me the wrong number of non-senior medallions.  The company said they will rectify the shipment free of charge and are sending more medallions.  Unfortunately, this shipment will not arrive until next week or possibly the week after.  After talking with some sophomore and junior students, we decided that we will move forward with the ceremony, especially since this may be our last rehearsal.  First year marching students will receive their necklaces with medallions and 4th marching students will receive their medallions.   2nd and 3rd year marching students will receive a certificate that they will return to me once their medallions are delivered.  The company was very apologetic when I spoke with them.

That is all for now.  I hope everyone has a fantabulous week!
