Welcome back and I hope everyone had an amazing Thanksgiving Break! We are ready to hit the ground running over the next two weeks with many events taking place! Please make sure you look over the calendar and itineraries very carefully!
Rehearsals this week - All of the concert ensembles as well as the colorguard will kickoff their prospective rehearsals this week and next week. Look at the calendar below for your ensemble practice day and time.
Christmas Parade - This Saturday, the MB&G Marching Band will participate in the annual City of Milton Christmas parade. The itinerary is below as well as what to wear and bring. We will meet at the East side of the empty lot on James and Byrom Street. The parade route is straight down Stewart Street from James Street and will end at Margaret Street Church of Christ near the Burger King. Students will need to secure a ride to be picked up at the church upon dismissal. We will gather at the band truck that will be parked at the church, then dismiss. Students are encouraged to decorate their equipment and body, but MUST be able to perform and march. Parents, we are in need of parade walkers to walk along the side of the band to help keep the crowd back. Please sign up using the yellow helping hand logo on the calendar under the parade walker event.
Honey Baked Ham Fundraiser - Before the fall break, we kicked off the Honey-Baked Ham fundraiser to all of the students. Every student received an order form with all of the information. Students receive 20% back on every gift card sold. This money goes to their individual band Charms account. I will send out this order form through eail later this week. We also have extra forms for any students that were absent or have lost theirs. These forms and money are due to us on Friday, December 11th. Money is to be collected upon the customer order.
Christmas Concert Festival - The Christmas Concert Festival is quickly approaching. It will be hosted on Thursday, December 10th at the MHS Football Stadium. We will have 4 different food trucks ready to go at 5:30 just outside the stadium and will be there during the duration of the concert. Bring your appetite! The concert itself will begin at 6:30 and will feature the Colorguard, Blackwater Beats Jazz Band, Panther Band, Concert Band, and Symphonic Band. We will also feature the section Christmas Tree decorations on the field. This concert is FREE! We will follow all safety guidelines as feasible and dictated by the county.
Section Tree Decorating Contest - Each section will have their very own tree to decorated for the tree decorating contest that will go along with the Christmas Concert Festival. Students will need to see their leadership in their section to determine what is needed for their trees. The decorating is scheduled to take place on Tuesday the 8th at 6:30pm until finished at the football stadium.
Band Student Christmas Party - The Band Parent Association has secured time at Sweet Seasons Farms for the band student Christmas Party on Friday, December 11th 5pm-9pm. This is not required but is highly encouraged. Students will need to secure their own ride to the farm. This is open to all MHS Band students and is free of charge. The BPA will be providing dinner. There will be plenty of activities throughout the night including the annual kickball tournament and outside movie. We will be following all safety guidelines as feasible! There is also a secret Santa gift exchange that students may participate. Students will need to provide a gift that is a minimum of $5 in order to participate. These gifts will be taken during the week of the party and no later than that Friday the 11th.
That is all for now. I hope you have a magical week!
