welcome back! We're in the stretch for the semester. We have a lot of activities crammed within these next 3 weeks. Please read through everything carefully.
Outside performance prep - All wind and percussion students MUST have a folder with plastic sheet protectors for rehearsals and the concert this week and next. We will be outside and these will help to keep music frombeing blow around.
Percussion/Indoor Percussion Meeting - We will have a meeting this Tuesday at 6pm for all percussion students and any other student that is interested in being a part of the indoor percussion units. This is for students and parents. All percussion students are required to be in attendance as well as any other student interested.
Christmas Parade - This Saturday is the Milton Christmas Parade. The itinerary is below. We will be wearing full uniforms with a Christmas themed hat. Students are encouraged to decorate their instruments and bodies. This is pretty much free-reign as long as students are able to play and march. NO COSTUMES. Lights, garland, etc. are all okay Please be careful with duct tape on the instruments. We will meet at the empty lot at James St. and Byrom St. on the West side. The parade rout goes straight down Stewart Street and we will end at Margarite Street Church of Christ. We will have the band truck parked their for students to put the big instruments on at the end of the parade. Rides will need to be arranged for pick at the end.
Christmas Concert Set-up - This Sunday, we have scheduled the set-up for the Christmas Concert. We have decided to have the leadership team and anyone else that would like to earn volunteer hours for this. We are not requiring the whole band to be there, however, we will need all the help we can get. If you are not on the leadership team, please consider helping us out on Sunday. We will meet at the football stadium at 3pm.
Christmas Party - Immediately following the set-up we will have the Band Christmas party from 5pm-9pm at Sweet Seasons Farms. This is celebration for all of our wonderful band students of for a semester full of accomplishments and hard work. Again, this is for ALL of the band students, not just the marching band. Students may drive themselves or get dropped off at the Sweet Seasons. If you need to ride the buses their, those students will need to meet at the stadium at 4:15pm. This party is FREE. The BPA will be providing food. There are a ton of activities at the farm, all of which are outside, so dress accordingly. Buses should be back at the school by 9:30pm
BPA Food Sign-up - The BPA needs your help to provide food at the Christmas Party. Please CLICK HERE to sign-up to bring something to feed our students.
Secret Santa Gift Exchange - As tradition, we will have a secret Santa gift exchange at the party. Any student that would like to participate in this will need to provide a gift that is a minimum of $5. We will collect these gifts throughout the week and at the party. Do not put your name on the gift. We will place a number on each gift and have students sign the list so we know who is participating.
Christmas Tree Decorating - Section tree decorating will take place the following Monday at 7pm. Each section leader is in charge of the logistics for their trees. We have lined up outside judges to judge the trees on Tuesday. The winning section will be announced at the concert. The winning section will win a $10 cash prize per student in that section, however, any student that does not contribute in some kind of way towards the winning tree, will not be eligible for the prize. I have instructed the section leaders to keep track of who does what.
Christmas Concert - The Christmas concert is Tuesday December 7th at 7pm. Gates and Food tucks will open at 5:30pm. The jazz band will also set the mood with some background Christmas tunes at around 6pm so far. Please come on out to the FREE concert and tell everyone. We encourage you also to peruse the trees and snow on the field that night.
Concert Band Scale Pass-offs - This is a reminder that all concert band students that did not audition for All-County will be required to pass off on scales during class on Monday and Tuesday the 13th and 14th. Students were given a sheet explaining what is required at the beginning of November. This is also on FOCUS.
