Spring Concert - Everyone is invited and encouraged to come out and show your support for all of our students this Friday in the Gym and Auditorium.  The whole concert will begin at 6pm in the gym with our Winterguard and Indoor Percussion groups.  Then we will transfer to the Auditorium to hear the rest of our groups at 7pm.  This is a totally FREE event.  Please come out and enjoy the year in review from all of our wonderful students.

Band Captain Video - I am extending the deadline for band captain videos to tomorrow (Monday) due to some technical difficulties over the weekend.  Any upcoming Junior or Senior that would like to run for this position is eligible.  Please CLICK HERE to access the FlipGrid channel directly.

Band Day - We will be hosting Band Day on Tuesday, May 9th 3pm-6:30 - All current students are required to attend this.  We will open our doors and give various performances for all of our potential new members.  Students will be released to go to the auditorium at 1:30 to practice the set up.  Students, please help us encourage all of our new members to attend.  We will bus them over to MHS from their schools. We will also be feeding everyone a pizza dinner that night.  

Guard Audition Camp - Anyone interested in joining our colorguard will need to make plans to attend the guard audition camp May 9th-11th 6pm-8:30.  Again, students, we need your help in getting the word out to anyone interested.  This could be current MHS students or an upcoming freshman.  

Percussion Audition Camp - The percussion audition camp is also just around the corner on May 17th-19th 6pm-9pm.  Any student interested in playing percussion must attend this camp.  Understand that camp attendance does not mean you will automatically be put on percussion.  This is required for all potential percussion students, both current and new.

Band Banquet - The Charles Bud Bell Band Banquet is Saturday, May 13th 5pm-9pm at the MHS Gym. There will be social time starting at 5pm-7pm. This will include music, dance floor , photo opportunities and lots and lots of food and drink. ALL band students are invited and this is FREE for all BAND Students. If the students would like to bring a friend or date, whom is not in band to the social time, and they are a student, they must purchase a ticket for $5 dollars to help with the cost of extra food and drinks for guests. If any adult would like to attend the social time, they must purchase a ticket for them as well for $10 dollars a piece. Again to cover the cost of extra food. All tickets must be bought in advance and by close of school on Friday May 5th. This is to insure we have time to order the extra food. Mrs. Wires and Mrs Armstrong will be at the band room every morning before school and also after school  for ticket sales. Parents, You will only need to purchase a ticket if you plan on attending for social time between 5pm-7pm. The awards ceremony will start promptly at 7 pm in the gym. This part of the banquet is FREE to ALL PARENTS AND STUDENTS. If you have any questions please reach out to the directors or Mrs. Wires or Mrs. Armstrong.

Uniforms and Marching Instruments - All uniforms and marching instruments MUST be returned by May 10th.  All items must be cleaned and in working condition.  Any item damaged or not returned will be charged to students and records will be tagged at the front office.

Step-off Rehearsal - Just a heads up, we will have the first rehearsal of the 2023-24 marching band on Monday, May 15th 6pm-8:30.  This rehearsal is required by all returning and future members of the MB&G.  

Rookie Camp - Also just a heads up, Rookie Camp will be May 22nd, 24th, & 25th 4pm-7pm and 26th 4pm-8pm.

State MPA - WOW! I can't say it enough.  The Symphonic Band had an amazing performance Friday in Tallahassee earning straight superior ratings, all A's on the sheets, and a standing ovation.  OUTSTANDING job to all of our students! 

NWFL Jazz Festival - This Friday, the MHS Jazz Combo....working on a different name....will be performing at 4:30 Pace Assembly of God for the NWFL Jazz Festival. This is a portion of the jazz band.  Please come out and support these students and enjoy a FREE concert of Jazz.

Woodwind Day - This Saturday, MHS will host the first woodwind day.  We will have professional instrumentalists from the Pensacola Symphony Orchestra on campus to give a performance and masterclassess for each woodwind instrument.  Schmidt's Music will also be on site with step-up instruments for anyone looking to purchase or rent.  All MHS woodwinds need to make plans to attend.  We will have students from all across the three county area here as well.

Spring Concert Showcase - Please make plans now to attend the MHS Band Spring Concert Showcase on Friday, May 5th.  This is a FREE concert with all of our ensembles on display.  The Indoor guard and percussion will kick everything off in the gym at 6pm.  Then the Concert Band, Jazz Band, Symphonic Band, and Marching Band will finish off in the auditorium beginning at 7pm.  You do not want to miss out on this final major performance of the year.

Next Fundraiser - We will be officially kicking off our next and final fundraiser of the school year this Thursday.  We have already began the process of this last week.  You may have received a link to an app or website called MoneyDolly.  This is set up similar to the uniform drive earlier in the semester except money earned will go directly to student band fee accounts.  We will be selling beef jerky and caramel corn for this one.  Students are asked upon setting up accounts to add contacts to their accounts.  Once the fundraiser begins on Thursday, those contacts from anywhere in the country can order or donate to the band and the products will ship directly to them.  Please keep an eye out on your phones on Thursday.

Happy Easter to all and I hope you have been able to spend this weekend as you see fit.  We are now truly in the home-stretch for the end of the school year.  Please make sure you keep up with as much as possible.  We will give updates to deadlines, performances, and everything else along the way. 

End of year documents - Last week, we rolled out almost all of the end of the year documents.  These are the Senior Last Will directions, Leadership Applications, Letter/Bar Applications, Band Captain Video directions, and Drum Major audition info.  All of these documents are due by Friday, May 5th (SPRING CONCERT).  We will pass out the BPA Scholarship applications to our seniors this week.  All of this info is posted in the band room and on our website. Please make sure you read through all directions on everything.  Of course, if you have questions, please don't hesitate to ask us. 

BPA Monthly Meeting - This Tuesday is a major meeting for the Band Parent Association.  We will be voting on the 2023-24 BPA board.  Nominations will be taken right up to the time of the vote.  If you are interested in being on the board or would like to nominate someone for next year, please let me know either through email or let me know in person by Tuesday night.  We will vote at some point during the meeting.  There is also, much to discuss and vote on for the end of the year as well as couple committees that need to be formed, i.e. band banquet, etc. Please make plans to attend at 7pm in the band hall.

Tri-M Talent Show - This Friday is the Tri-M Talent show.  We invite everyone to come out and see all of the wonderful talents that the students of Milton HS will be showing off.  This is at 7pm in the auditorium.  Admission is free.  We will have a snack concessions.  Students, if any of you are interested in showing off a talent, please see Ms. Ruiz for an entry form.  You must also submit $5 per entry.  There is a cash prize of $100!
BPA Yardsale - The BPA is hosting a yardsale this Saturday 8am-3pm at the Ollie's parking lot.  If you would like to donate items or would like more info , please contact Scottie Armstrong at (850)291-4800 or Arlene Wires at (850)910-5636.  

FBA State MPA - The Symphonic Band will be on tour next Friday the 21st for State Concert MPA at Leon High School in Tallahassee, FL.  This is a free performance and all are invited to attend if you can secure your own ride.  We will be taking one charter bus for the band with VERY limited seating.  Here is the itinerary:

Hello All,

Indoor Groups - If you missed the Winterguard and Black Gold Percussion Ensemble performances this past Saturday, you missed two wonderful performances! These students did outstanding at the Circuit Championships at Tate HS and ended the season on a high note! We are proud of all of these students.  Both groups will perform their show one more time at the Spring concert on May 5th.

BPA Nominations - We are taking nominations for each position for the BPA Board for next year.  These positions are President, First Vice President, Second Vice President, Secretary, Assistant Secretary, Treasurer, and Assistant Treasurer.  You can read descriptions and responsibilities for each position on the BPA By-Laws by CLICKING HERE.  Nominations can be emailed to me or submitted on paper to me.  Please make sure you put the name of the person being nominated and position(s) in which they are nominated.  Nominations will be accepted right up to the vote which will take place at the monthly meeting in April.

BPA Yardsale - The BPA will be hosting a mass yardsale on Saturday, April 15th 8am-3pm at the Milton High School track field.  We will be taking any donation of items for this.  You can either drop off items or arrange for them to be picked up by a BPA representative.  Please contact Scottie Armstrong at (850)291-4800 or Arlene Wires at (850)910-5636 for more info or to arrange for pickup.  Items will be accepted until April 7th.  

State Concert MPA - I have put together a preliminary itinerary for FBA State Concert MPA.  The Symphonic Band will be traveling to Leon HS in Tallahassee, FL on April 21st to perform for this.  We will be traveling by charter bus.  There is VERY limited seating on the bus since there are 52 students in Symphonic Band and there are only 55 seats.  We will give more info in regards to this later.  Here is the itinerary for that day so far:

Band Fees - As we get closer to the end of the school year, we need to make sure that all band fees have been paid in full.  Please look at your charms accounts to see how much, if any, is owed.  If you have trouble logging into your account, please let us know and we can reset your password.  I will print statements soon to send home.

Drum Major Clinic - We will be holding a Drum Major audition clinic this Wednesday 3:45-5:30.  Any student that is interested in auditioning to be one of the 2023-24 drum majors are encouraged to attend this clinic.  Attendance is not required for the audition, however, we will be going over everything for the audition itself.

Tri-M Talent Show - The MHS chapter of Tri-M is hosting a talent show on April 14th in the auditorium.  Any student interested in showing off your talents are encouraged to show us your moves! There is a $5 entry fee and a $100 cash prize.  See Ms. Ruiz for entry forms.
