Not so much of a busy week this week, however, there are a few events you need to be aware of. First, the 3rd annual Bring the Heat spirit night and jalapeno eating contest is this Tuesday starting at 6pm at the Whataburger in Pea Ridge. Come on out for a night of fun as our battery battles against Pace's battery and we see who has the most school spirit all culminating to the jalapeno eating contest between some very familiar faces :-). The school with the highest attendance will get a monetary donation from Whataburger. All you have to do is show up, get a free ticket on site, and stick around for the giveaways. You don't pay for a thing as everything except for food and drinks is free. Yankee Candle Fundraiser is Due on Tuesday!! We return to rehearsals this Thursday to prepare for the game on Friday. This is what we call the Halloween rehearsal as students may wear costumes to the rehearsal. Please make sure you can still march and play in your costume. Friday, before the game and during the school day, we will have two book character parades. The first one only involves the leadership as well as others that I will ask to attend to fill out parts and is at T.R. Jackson at 9:45. The second is at Rhodes Elementary at 11:30 and involves the entire Marching Band. Uniform for these will be show shirts and marching shoes. Finally, the Jazz band will be in performance in our own parade this Saturday at the new park in Bagdad as part of the "Beaches to Woodlands" festivities. Hello all,
WHAT AN AMAZING PERFORMANCE, STUDENTS!!!!!!! I just can't say that enough. We are all super proud of all of our students for what they accomplished not only on Saturday, but over the past 6 months of marching season. For those that have not heard already, we earned straight Superiors at the Emerald Coast Marching Band Classic at Choctaw HS. On top of that, we were also placed 5th out of 15 bands. What a band!!! Thank you to all of the students for your hard work this season and commitment this season. A big thank you to all of the parents that have helped out throughout the season in all sorts of capacities! We still have two more games and a couple parades left but the hardest part is over. So what happens once all of the marching band events are truly finished? Well, we have our big trip to Disney World in December which we are now in the process of getting the rooming lists together and ordering the tickets. We also have our Christmas concert in December as well. The big thing that happens is we take our one big Marching band and split that into 7 performing ensembles which include symphonic band, concert band, panther band, jazz band, indoor percussion, and 2 indoor colorguard groups moving into concert season. These ensembles perform at different events in the area a part from each other at the end of this semester and throughout the Spring semester. Keep an eye on the calendar as we will post all rehearsal times and date on there. That's all I have for now. I'm so proud of all of you and cannot wait to get started with concert season. This Week: Monday - No School Friday - Bands on the Blackwater (Volunteer by clicking HERE) Looking Ahead to Next Week: Tues - Bring the Heat at Whataburger, Yankee Candle FR Due Thurs - Full MB Rehearsal (Halloween Rehearsal) Fri - T.R. Jackson Book Parade, Rhodes Book Parade, Home game vs Pace HS Sat - Beaches to Woodlands parade (Jazz Band) Together We Are THE MIGHTY BLACK & GOLD!!! |
