This will be the last weekly update until we return in August. Car Wash - Outstanding job to all at the mass car wash Saturday. Because of you, we were able to wash a total of 245 vehicles and received $2,106 in donations. Thank you to our students for washing and our parents for chaperoning. Please see attached for the follow up letter to give to your pledges. Make sure you collect payment ASAP! Band Camp Schedule - GREAT JOB to everyone so far this band camp! Please take note of the schedule for this week, especially Thursday. On Thursday, we will meet 8am-Noon. Again, 8am-Noon. Field Lining Help Needed - Band Dads, we need your help with lining the football field on Tuesday at 7:15pm to Prepare for the preview show. PREVIEW SHOW - We invite anyone and everyone to come out and see the 2021-22 MB&G Marching Band for the first time in performance Thursday at 7pm in the MHS Football stadium. Call time for students is 6pm. Students will be wearing this year's band shirt and blue jeans/blue jean shorts. We do not plane to livestream this performance at this time. Band Shirts - Students will receive their band shirts beginning this Monday. As long as you have paid at least $10 towards your band fair share, you will receive your shirt. We still have SEVERAL spots open for parent help according to our volunteer sign up on charms. We cannot hold this event if we do not have the parents to help chaperone each location/shift. You are guaranteed a fun time during the three hour shift. We have lots of information this week so we will get right to it. Spare Phones - If any of you have a spare phone that you are no longer using, please consider donating this to the MHS band for the season for students who do not have a mobile device. The phones need to be able to access wifi. Please delete all data from the phone before you send it in. UDB App - If you have not done so already, please CLICK HERE and follow the steps to get this on your mobile device. Band Camp - We will be outside the majority of the next 2 weeks. Please make sure you dress to keep cool, bring plenty of water jugs to refill, and sun screen, sun screen, sun screen. Camel packs are great as well. It is vital that all students are in attendance during these 2 weeks. Attendance issues can hinder your participation in the MB&G Band. Keep tabs on your body and make sure you stay healthy. Drink plenty of fluids starting now and eat plenty of hearty meals. Band Camp Café - Parents, we need help cooking and serving/selling food during the dinner hour each day of band camp this week and next week 4pm-5pm. Car Wash - Next Saturday, July 17th 8:30am-2:30pm, the MHS Band will be putting on the annual mass car wash. All students are required to attend and will sign up by seniority for a shift and location. The student sign-up is on the door in the locker room at the band hall. Students received the pledge sheet at the Thursday rehearsal. Follow the steps above to sign-up. This is a wonderful opportunity to fundraise towards your child\'s fair shares. All the information is on the sheet. Car Wash Help - Parents, we need your help with chaperoning the car wash. I have attached the instructions and responsibility sheets for parents. You can CLICK HERE to sign-up for whichever shift and location you wish. Remember, if you sign up for the morning shift, you will need to come to the band room first at around 8:15am to get the supplies and take them to your location. The afternoon shift is responsible to get the supplies back to the band room. Preview Show - The 2021-22 Mighty Black & Gold Marching Band will be giving our first performance on Thursday, July 22nd at 7pm in the MHS football stadium. HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY! Welcome back! I hope everyone has enjoyed your summer break so far. We have missed all of you and we are looking forward to being back together over the next three weeks. Please look through the schedule below thoroughly as we begin the most important three weeks of marching band season. Percussion Camp - Percussion Camp resumes this week 7pm-9pm, Monday-Thursday. All percussion students must make plans to attend each day. Wind/Guard Rehearsals - We will have two rehearsals this week for Winds & Guard. All winds and guard must make plans to attend on Tuesday and Thursday, 6pm-9pm. Winds, we will be distributing show music and hopefully try and put everything together, including percussion and guard on these nights. UDB App - All students will need to download the UDB or Ultimate Drill Book App to whatever mobile device you will be using during band camp. This app is free and will be our primary source to set the marching drill during band camp and the rest of the season. You can see more information about this app by CLICKING HERE. We will go be going over how the app works at the Tuesday and Thursday rehearsals. ALL students will have to create a new profile within the app. This includes all returning students. MHSBPA Monthly Meeting - This Tuesday, the BPA will hold the July monthly meeting at 7pm. We will be moving this meeting to the Chorus room since the marching band will be in the band hall. This room is located on the back of the auditorium using the left door on the outside. Right across from the softball field. Room A-2. All parents are encouraged to attend. We will not by live-streaming this meeting. BAND CAMP - Band Camp is just one week away! Just a reminder that we will go 1pm-9pm Monday through Thursday for week one. Week 2 is 1pm-9pm Monday through Wednesday. On Thursday, July 22nd, we will have camp from 8am-Noon then the Preview Show will take place at 7pm in the MHS Stadium. All marching students MUST attend these camp days. Any student who is absent will risk their participation in the MHS Band this year. Band Carwash - We are planning to hold the Mass Band Carwash on Saturday, July 17th. So far we have three locations, however, we are working on 2 more. Students must participate in the wash. They will sign up by seniority for the shift and location they wish to be at. We will be giving out pledge sheets this week as part of the fundraising opportunity. Our goal is to wash as many cars that day as possible. After we are done, we total everything up and that number is what is used to collect the pledges. So, if a student gets a total of $1 in pledges and we wash $300 vehicles, that student just made $300 which will go directly to their band fair share account. More will be explained at the rehearsals and BPA meeting. Lock-in - This is just a reminder that we have moved the band lock-in/lock-out to Friday & Saturday, August 6th & 7th so far.
