Hello All,

Winterguard - Congratulations to our MHS Winterguard on a wonderful performance at Pace HS this past Saturday.  If you haven't seen them yet, you will have 2 more chances coming up at Escambia HS on March 12th and the GCGPC Championship at Tate HS on April 2nd. Please come out and support these amazing performers.  

FBA Concert MPA - This Thursday is the most important performance of the year for the MHS Winds and Percussion! This is the FBA Concert Music Performance Assessment.  The complete itinerary is below.  We will wear the normal uniform minus helmets, gauntlets, and gloves.  Concert Band performs at 4:45 and Symphonic Band at 7:45.  These are FREE performances, so please come out and show your support for these students.  Students, make sure you bring money for dinner.  The Symphonic, Concert, AND Panther Bands will all attend this.  

8th Grade Showcase - Next Tuesday, the entire marching and jazz bands and guard will be out of 1st - 3rd periods for the MHS 8th Grade Showcase.  Students will need to wear their band shirts and blue jeans/Shorts for this.  This is NOT 8th Grade Band Day.  It is a pep rally/orientation that MHS puts on for our incoming 8th graders.  

BPA Board Nomination - The BPA is now accepting nominations to the 2022-23 BPA Board of Directors.  We will be sending a form out this week with descriptions of offices and who you would like to nominate.  You can CLICK HERE for the description in the BPA by-laws in the mean time.  We will elect for all positions; President, First Vice President, Second Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and Trustee.  Rebecca Justice has volunteered to be the chairperson of the nomination committee.  If you have any questions or would like to nominate someone without using the form to be sent out, please email her at [email protected]. Nominations will be accepted through the BPA meeting in April.

Jazz MPA - A big congratulations for an amazing performance by our Blackwater Beats Jazz Band at the FBA Jazz MPA this past Friday.  These students really brought the house down and earned straight Superior ratings! We are incredibly proud of their accomplishment!

Pace Indoor Competition - This Saturday, our Winterguard will be performing at the Pace HS Indoor competition at 6:53.  Admission is $10.  Please come out and show your support for these wonderful students.  They have been working hard since the last competition.  A full itinerary will be given later this week.  

Concert MPA - Next Thursday, March 3rd, the Concert and Symphonic Band will be performing at the FBA Concert MPA.  The Concert Band performs at 4:45 and the Symphonic Band at 7:45.  This will take place at Ft. Walton Beach HS.  Currently, the plan is to take all 3 bands (Panther, Concert, & Symphonic) to this performance.  Please make plans to come out and see these amazing students! These concerts are FREE.  The working itinerary is as follows:

AACC Black History Program - The Jazz Band will be performing at the black history program this Friday during 2nd, 3rd, 5th, & 6th periods.  We will set up that morning before school.  Please the Jazz black uniform.

Fair Shares - We emailed statements to all students last week.  It is important to make sure that all fair shares are up to date ASAP.  We have many bills that are beginning to pile up and need to pay these.  You can pay online by CLICKING HERE or with cash or check.

Jazz MPA - This Friday, the Blackwater Beats Jazz Band will perform at the FBA Jazz MPA.  The itinerary is below.  We do encourage anyone that can, to be there to support these students.  This will take place at PSC Pensacola at 12:30pm.  Jazz students are reminded to wear their jazz black outfits with gold ties.

Concert MPA - We have a tentative schedule for Concert MPA on Thursday, March 3rd at FWBHS.  So far, we are planning to leave MHS at around 2pm and be back by around 9pm.

Below is this week's events.  Please look over everything carefully.  
 
MPA Season - Welcome to MPA Season! Over the next several weeks, our various ensembles as well as individual students will be performance in three different Music Performance Assessments beginning with FBA Solo & Ensemble this Saturday, then Jazz MPA on the 18th, and finally concert MPA on March 3rd.  It is imperative that all students are in attendance at each and every rehearsal.  Also, each of these performances are free and we do encourage everyone to attend.  
 
Guard Performance - Congratulations to the MHS Winterguard for a strong season opener at Daphne HS this past Saturday! We finished 5th place.  If you missed them, you have 3 more chances this season plus a performance this Saturday at FBA S&E.
 
Guard S&E Performance - They guard will be in performance this Saturdayat Escambia HS at 10:45 am.  This is a FREE performance in which the guard will be evaluated by an FBA judge.  A full itinerary will be given on Monday.  They will perform their complete show. 
 
Jazz Band Performance - This Tuesday we invite everyone out to the Pace HS cafeteria for a FREE performance by the MHS Blackwater Beats, Pace HS Jazz Band, Avalon MS Jazz Band, and Sims MS Jazz Band.  The performances will begin around 6pm.  Coffee, Hot Chocolate, and Desserts will be on sale as well.
 
Make-up Pictures - This Thursday, Kay Brown Photography will be back in the band room for any students that were not able to have your pictures taken.  Please plan accordingly to get this done.  
 
All-State Student Recognitions - Also this Thursday, all of the All-State students in the county will be recognized at the school board meeting at 6:30.  Students are asked to wear their band uniforms.  Everyone is welcome to attend.  This meeting will take place at the Canal Street school board building, a.k.a. the old Milton High School building.  
 
Drum Major Audition Clinic - This Friday, we will hold the first of a few drum major audition clinics.  If you plan to audition for drum major for next year, this will be a good start to know how the process works.  This is not required for the audition.
