FBA Concert MPA - This Friday is the FBA Concert MPA.  This is the most important performance of the year.  The itinerary is below.  The concert band will perform at 3:45 and Symphonic at 7:15 all at Ft. Walton Beach HS.  These performances are FREE.  Please come out and show your support for our students. Parents, if you would like to chaperon, please CLICK HERE to signup. 

Band Trip Meeting - All participants of the trip need to plan to attend the trip meeting this Tuesday at 7pm.  If you are in one of the indoor groups, please make sue you have a parent in attendance for you.  We will meet in the band hall so far.  

BPA - Thank you to anyone that came out to help our BPA at Southern Raceway this weekend.  Remember, the BPA directly supports our students and any time you support them, you are also supporting our students.  We need your help at these events as they come along.  Thank you in advance

Indoor - This Saturday, our indoor groups will be competing at Daphne HS in Alabama.  Their performance times are below.  Please come out and support these wonderful students.  Tickets are $10 at the door.

I hope this email finds you doing well and relaxing on this President's Day.  Please read through all of the info below for this week.

Jazz MPA - A Very big CONGRATULATIONS to our own Blackwater Beats Jazz Band for an outstanding performance at Jazz MPA this past Friday! You brought the house down and earned straight superior ratings! There were so many people that were complimentary as well.  Great job everyone.

MHS Parent/Career Night - This Tuesday, Milton HS will be hosting a career night.  Everyone is invited and encouraged to attend. The BPA needs help selling concessions at this event 3:30-7:30.  Students, if you would like to receive volunteer hours, please signup to help.  A sign up sheet will be available in the band room on Tuesday.  

Mock MPA Concert - This Friday, Avalon MS, MHS Concert Band, and MHS Symphonic Band will all be giving performances in the MHS Auditorium beginning at 6pm.  This is required attendance by all students.  We will have 2 adjudicators giving instant feedback to each group.  Parents and family are invited to attend as this is a FREE concert.  

FBA Concert MPA - The actual MPA concert will take place at Ft. Walton Beach HS next Friday, March 3rd.  This is also a FREE concert and all are invited to attend and show your support for our students.  Here is the itinerary for that day.  This is still a work in progress and could change:

Band Trip - We will have a final trip meeting on Tuesday, February 28th at 7pm in the band room.  All participants of the trip must attend.  We will be going over last minute details before we depart.  

Uniform Update - Congratulations! We met our goal and were able to make the deposit to have our new uniforms placed into production.  Thank you to all that donated and/or spread the word.  We will have a uniform sizing day on Thursday, March 9th during all band classes.

I hope this message finds you doing well! Please read through everything for this week's info.  

FBA Solo & Ensemble - Congratulation to all of the MHS students that performed this past Saturday for the Solo & Ensemble MPA.  Ms. Ruiz and I heard some amazing performances and are so proud of all of you! Out of 36 entries, 13 were rated Excellent and 23 were rated Superior! It is always super special when our students are able to show off their talents to the world.  There will possibly be a chance in the near future for everyone to listen to you again.  More on this soon :-)

Indoor - Our guard opened the indoor competition this past Saturday at Robertsdale HS.  They had a wonderful first performance and will only get better with each show and rehearsal.  I encourage everyone to come out to Pace HS this Saturday to support the percussion and guard.  See the performance times below.  Tickets are $10 at the door.  

FBA Jazz - This Friday, the Blackwater Beats Jazz Band will be in performance for the FBA Jazz MPA at PSC.  We perform at 5:30pm.  Admission is FREE.  See below for complete itinerary.  Again, we encourage you to come out and support our students and listen to some great music! 

MHS BPA - The Monthly Meeting for the BPA has been move to Thursday of this week so everyone can celebrate Valentine's Day if you have one.  Please come out to the meeting to get all the up to date info. The BPA needs help with concessions sales this Friday and Saturday at Southern Raceway.  Please click the links below to Sign up.  Remember, without your support for the BPA, we cannot purchase much needed items (UNIFORMS) for our students.

New Uniform Drive - There are only 10 days left in our uniform drive and we still have $16,674 left to go to reach our goal. I am begging all of you to send this link out to EVERYONE you know. Friends of Friends, business owners, doctors, uncles, aunts, grandparents, Morgan Freeman, basically ANYONE you can think of. Please help us get our students into these new uniforms!

RADA - The RADA Cutlery fundraiser is due on Wednesday of this week.  Remember, this one is for individual accounts band/indoor/trip accounts.  Make sure all order forms are accurately tallied up and the correct amount has been collected.  Remember to add the appropriate tax and $2 handling fee to each order.  Money is due with the order forms on Wednesday.

FBA Season - Welcome to the FBA Spring season! Over the next few weeks, there will be different FBA events taking place.  These events are Solo & Ensemble MPA this Saturday, Jazz MPA on the 17th, and Concert MPA on the 2nd-4th of March.  We will have itineraries ready for each as we receive the schedules.  These dates are the most important dates for the spring semester for winds and percussion and jazz. All of these performances are FREE and we encourage audience attendance and support to each.

FBA Solo & Ensemble - This will be at Escambia HS on Saturday.  We are still waiting to receive the schedules from the FBA District Chair.  Hopefully he will send this out on Monday.  

FBA Jazz MPA - This will take place next Friday, February 17th at the auditorium at Pensacola State College.  Our performance is at 5pm.  We will bus over there at 1pm to watch and support the other school performances.  After all performances are done, we will indeed stick with tradition and head to Steak N Shake :-) We should be back at MHS around 9pmish.

Mock MPA/Preview Concert - We will be hosting a this concert on Friday, February 24th in the auditorium.  This is a free concert open to the public.  So far, Avalon MS will perform along with MHS Concert and Symphonic bands.  We will have a couple guest directors giving each band feedback as well.  Please make plans to join us that night.  The performances will begin at 6pm.

Indoor Competitions - This Saturday marks the first of the indoor competitions for the Black Gold Percussion Ensemble and MHS Winterguard.  The performance times are below. This will be hosted at Robertsdale HS in Alabama.  Tickets are sold at the door.  Ms. Byrd and Chandler will be developing the itineraries for each group.  Please get in touch with them for all questions about each competition day.

Band Trip Bus Sign-ups - We will sign up for busses for the band trip this week.  We will do this by senority.  Seniors/Leadership on Tuesday, Juniors on Wednesday, Sophomores on Thursday, and Freshmen on Friday. 

Spring Semester Sports Pep Rally - Just an fyi to all, there will be a pep rally on Wednesday, February 15th.  The Marching Band will be involved with this :-)
