Hello All,
Welcome back! I hope everyone had a great break and had plenty of fun! 

Milton Parade - The Milton Christmas parade is this Saturday.  The band hall will be open 4pm-4:45 for students to grab instruments.  Students may decorate their instruments as you please as long as they can still play and march.  Please DO NOT use duct tape on your instruments.  This could permanently damage instruments.  We will wear our full uniform minus helmets.  Please try to secure some kind of Christmas hat. We will meet at 5pm at the empty lot on James street.  This is across from the BMX bike course.  Make sure you have a ride to get you at the end of the parade.  We will end at Margaret Street Church of Christ.  

Band Trip Payment - The next payment for the band trip is due on Monday.  These can be made online or through the moneybox.  If you are paying online, please make sure you designate the payment for the band trip. Anyone still wishing to go on the trip can do so.  Just start making payments now.  All chaperones must make sure you turn in all volunteer AND level 2 paperwork in ASAP.  All info for the trip can be found by CLICKING HERE. 

Christmas Concert - The annual band Christmas concert is on Thursday, Dec. 8th at 6:30 in the Auditorium.  This is a FREE concert with performances by the Blackwater Beats Jazz Band, Concert Band, and Symphonic Band.  We invite everyone to come out and get into the holiday spirit with us.  We will also have the section Christmas trees decorated all around the auditorium.  Doors will open at 5:30. The jazz band will kickoff background music at 6pm.

Christmas Party - The Band Christmas party will be held on Friday, Dec. 9th at the Band Hall and practice fields.  We have lots of activities planned for this event for all of our students including kickball tournament, cornhole tournament, volleyball, Christmas movie, karaoke, dance floor, ugly sweater contest, and possibly an inflatable obstacle course.  Everything will start with a potluck style meal at 5pm in the band room.  The deadline to signup for cornhole is this Friday.  The winners of that tournament will when 2 movie passes and a gift card for snacks.  There will be a sign up for the ugly sweater contest.  The top 3 winners of that will get a prize.  

Section Money Wars - The  BPA will be hosting a section money wars.  Sections can bring in money and put in their section buckets.  All money will go towards the uniform fund.  The winning section will get to pie Ms. Ruiz or Mr. Schultz in the face at the Christmas Party.  

Pensacola Parade - We will be participating in the Pensacola Christmas parade on Dec. 10th.  Meeting time will be at 4pm at the Wahoe Stadium.  Students will need to secure their own ride with instruments for this.  Call time is 4pm.

Hello All,

This will be the last weekly update email until the end of Fall Break.  Please make sure you look at the calendar and schedule below for the most up-to-date events.

All-County - Thank you to all of the students that worked the auditions this past Thursday.  We had lots of compliments from the judges about the whole process.  Great job to all that auditioned and put yourself out there to improve your musicianship. We are trying to have the results ready by Monday.  Students will know before Fall Break.

Lumpia - Lumpia will be distributed in the band room on Monday 3:30-5:30.  Students or their parents will need to make plans to pick up your orders to hand to your customers.  YOUR CUSTOMORS DO NOT PICK THEM UP! Students or their parents are responsible for this.  We have all of the original order forms we will give you as well so you know who to deliver.  I would like to give a big THANK YOU and shout out to our lumpia committee in the BPA for making this happen.  We had a "glitch" from our original provider for the lumpia, but our BPA parents rallied and found a much more reliable provider to finish the orders.  Thank you for making this happen!

Symphonic and Concert Bands - These groups will begin their after school rehearsals this week on Tuesday and Thursday.  Percussion students will be informed which band they have made in class on Monday.  

IP Auditions - The IP auditions will take place again this week.  Remember, this is open to any current student in the band.  Please make plans to attend all auditions and rehearsals if you would like to be considered to join.

Tri-M Meeting - We will have the next Tri-M Meeting this Wednesday.  At this meeting, we will hold elections for officers.  You must attend in person in order to vote.

Parent Engagement Night - This Thursday, MHS will have their second parent engagement night.  The Blackwater Beats Jazz Band will kick everything off at 5:30 with a short 30 minute concert.  Guest speaker Dan Shugart, sports commentator for over 30 years with WEAR, will be talking with everyone after that.  Then, MHS will be serving everyone a Thanksgiving style dinner in the cafeteria with door prizes.  All of this is FREE! parents are encouraged to attend. MHS Band Christmas Concert - Mark your calendars now for the MHS Band Christmas Concert on Thursday, December 8th at 6:30pm in the Auditorium! We are planning to once again have a winter wonderland full of lights and "snow".  Come on out to this FREE concert and get into the spirit! 

Milton Christmas Parade - Just a note to make sure you are reminded that the Milton Christmas parade will take place on Saturday December 3rd.  More details on the calendar

Pensacola Christmas Parade - We are thinking about participating in the Pensacola Christmas Parade on Saturday, December 10th this year.  We will talk it over with the students this week and decide.  This parade has very high attendance and is televised.  More details to come.  

Fall Break - As Fall Break and the Thanksgiving is upon us, I would simply like to thank each and every one of you for all you do for the school, community, and each other.  You are simply wonderful people! I hope all of you have a fantastic break and be safe.

Hello all,

Bandsgiving - THANK YOU to all that were present at our first Bandgiving! It was such a fun time celebrating everyone and watching the dancing and eating! Thank you to those that provided the food.  Thank you thank you thank you! This will probably be a new tradition for the MB&G :-)

Sweet Seasons - THANK YOU to all of the parents and students that volunteered to work the BPA concessions at Sweet Seasons Farm over the past month! 

Symphonic & Concert Bands - These rehearsals will begin next week on Tuesday and Thursday respectively.  We will be place the percussion in the appropriate band as soon as All-County auditions are completed.  These students will need to leave Tuesday and Thursday 4pm-6pm open for the time being until they know which band they will be in.  

Indoor Percussion - Any student interested in participating with IP this year will need to make plans to attend the IP auditions beginning this week.  Please understand that there is a process to these auditions with limited spots.  The percussion staff will determine the qualifications per student through this process.  All questions about IP need to be directed toward Chandler Sedlacek at [email protected]. 

Winterguard - The indoor colorguard, also known as winterguard will begin their rehearsals this week as well.  These rehearsals are mandatory by all colorguard students.  All questions about winterguard can be directed to Sam Byrd at [email protected].

All-County Auditions - This Thursday, the high school all-county auditions will take place at Milton High School.  A schedule will be posted by Monday.  Students, WE NEED YOUR HELP with proctoring rooms that evening.  Sign-ups have been posted on the locker room door.  Students can receive volunteer hours for this.  Please Please Please help us out.  These auditions run smoothly only because of the students that help.  There is also a sign up to help the middle school auditions on Tuesday.  Again, students can receive volunteer hours for these.

All-State - A huge congratulations to Ethan Colon, Andres Diaz, Josiah Hall, and Savannah Morris for making the All-State Band! I will post an official picture with congrats as soon as Ethan and Andres get back from the All-National conference.  Congratulations to Emily Woodward for making the All-State Chorus!! 

Veteran's Day Parade - This Friday, we will be celebrating all of our past, present, and future veterans with a parade.  The itinerary is below.  We will hand out plumes at the band hall and collect at my (Mr. Schultz's) truck at the end of the parade.  The parade route begins at the anchor at MHS, goes south on Stewart Street, left down Berryhill Road, right on Willing Street in downtown Milton, and ends at Veteran's Memorial.  Students will need to have a ride from Veteran's Memorial at the end of the parade. Remember to bring instruments back on Monday. Everyone is welcome to attend the ceremony after the parade put on by the VA.   

MHSBPA Monthly Meeting - We have decided to move the monthly meeting to Tuesday, November 15th due to election day being this week and because of the directors helping at MS auditions.  Please make plans to attend that night as we will are in need of voting on some major items for purchase, including a much needed new compressor for the freezer that went out last week.
