Homecoming Week - HAPPY HOMECOMING.  This week there are lots of events and dress-up days to enjoy each day.  I encourage everyone to take part and get into the spirit of homecoming.  The MB&G will be playing a huge part as always, especially the last three days this week. Here is a rundown of the uniforms for the week:
Wed - Summer Uniform for Escapades
Thurs - Bring formal uniform to school for pep rally, change during 5th period
Fri - Summer Uniform for Parade, Formal Uniform for game.

TR Jackson Parade - Tuesday is the TR Jackson Storybook parade.  After much thought, we will only be taking the leadership team to this because of the VERY tight quarters at the school.  We usually only take the leadership team for this parade anyway.  There will not be enough room to march through the hallways at TR Jackson if the whole band is there.  Leadership, please see itinerary below.  

Escapades - This Wednesday is Escapades.  This is the after school pep rally in the gym.  All of the class skits will be performed and the HC court will be introduced.  Parents are invited to come out and watch.  The  itinerary is below.  Call time is 5:30 in summer uniform.

Pep Rally Thursday - Just a note that we will be in full uniform minus helmets for the pep rally on Thursday.  Please make sure you bring your uniform to school on that day.  You may leave it on the hangers afterwards for the game on Friday.

HC Parade - We will meet at 9am in the band room for the HC parade then bus to King MS in rotation on 2 buses.  The parade will kickoff around 10:30.  Students will be dismissed at the end.  Buses will run at Noon.  See itinerary below.

HOME Game vs Godby HS - This Friday is our final game of the season.  See itinerary below.  If we receive our new uniforms this week, we may adjust the call time.  Take note that we will be performing our halftime show at POST GAME before we march back to the band room.  We will also be giving a special performance for the students of Hobbs MS at the practice field before the game.  We will also be inviting all of our Band Alumni to join us in the stands at the 2nd half of the game. 

BPA Concessions at Game - The BPA needs help with the concessions for the game.  This is your last chance to work a game and earn the BPA incentive.  Please CLICK HERE to sign-up.  

New Uniforms - We still have an estimated delivery of this week for our uniforms.  We are hoping to be able to have these for the game this Friday.  If we do indeed receive them, we may be adjusting the call time on Friday to 4:30 instead of 5:30.  We will let you know if and when this will happen.  Cross your fingers!

BPA Sweet Seasons - This weekend is the last of the sweet season BPA concession sales.  If any student would like to sign up to help, you will receive volunteer hours and lots of thanks!  Parents, please don't miss out on this last opportunity to help at this event.  Everyone can sign up using the links below:

All-County Auditions - All County Auditions will take place at MHS on Thursday, November 9th.  We will be posting a signup sheet for students to help out at various things for that evening.  The biggest area of need is for Proctoring each room.  Students may receive volunteer hours for this.  More info to be given in class. We will also be posting an audition schedule this week.

Veterans Day Parade - The Veterans Day parade will be on Saturday, November 11th.  Just giving everyone a heads up for this.  We will be meeting in the band room at 8am on that day, then block up with Pace HS out front.  The parade will start at 9:30 and goes from MHS to Veterans Memorial in downtown Milton.  Students will need to secure a ride from Veterans Memorial.  We should be finished up by 10:30am.

And just like that, Bandtober is over! Congratulations to everyone for making it through the busiest time of the marching band season.  You guys are rock stars..Literally! Our students were the talk of the town at Daphne HS and everywhere else we went.  We are so proud of you all! Thank you to everyone for all that you did to make the past three weeks and beyond a success.  

Daphne - Congratulations to our students for their superior performance at Daphne HS on Saturday.  Our students earned straight superiors for the third weekend in a row.  It was a fun day with an amazing show run....and Buccees :-)

Dress-up Rehearsal - This Thursday, is our dress-up rehearsal for marching band.  You can wear anything you wish as long as you can play and march an it is school appropriate.  Parents are invited to watch as well if you wish.  It is always a blast!

Year Medallion Ceremony - Immediately after the rehearsal, we will have our annual year medallion ceremony.  This is a celebration of all of our marching band students for completing the competition portion of marching season.  Each student will receive a medallion symbolizing this year.  Parents are also invited to attend.

Winterguard Interest Meeting - All students interested in participating in the MHS winterguard need to make plans to attend the interest meeting this Thursday at 6:30.  Parents are asked to attend as well.

Rhodes ES Storybook Parade - This Friday is the Rhodes ES Storybook Parade.  See the itinerary below.  Students may dress up in costumes for this if you wish.  WE will walk to and from Rhodes.  

Homecoming Events - Homecoming is just one week away.  Please be aware that the marching band plays one of the biggest rolls during that week with Escapades on Wednesday, Pep Rally and short rehearsal on Thursday, and parade and game on Friday.  Make sure you are looking ahead at all of these.

New Uniform Delivery - The uniform company has estimated that our uniforms will be delivered on October 30.  My goal is to get all winds and percussion into their new uniforms for the homecoming game.  If this delivery date is accurate, we will adjust the call time on Friday evening to get the uniforms distributed.  This is just a heads up.  More info to come.

Sweet Season BPA Concessions Sales - The BPA will is selling  concessions at Sweet Seasons farms in North Milton.  This is a family friendly fun event occurring each weekend until the beginning of November.  We need your help with to make these days successful.  Parents and students may sign-up.  Please be reminded that you must work your entire shift.  Below are all of the dates and sign-up links.  Please see any of our BPA board for more details.  The address for the farm is 2260 Horn Rd, Milton, FL 32570

Congrats - Students, you simply amaze us with your performances! These past 2 weeks have been awesome and you have represented the MB&G well! Congratulations on 2 outstanding weeks of Bandtober! Only one more week of competition to go.  Keep it up! You got this!

Santa Rosa County Marching Band Exhibition - This will be held at Pace HS on Monday, October at 6:30pm-9pmish.  All of the high schools in Santa Rosa will be performing at this.  This performance is simply a celebration of all of the students and will show off to each other.  Parents and guests are welcome to attend as well. This is FREE to the public.  We will not have a specific place to sit in the stands as students will be able to mingle with the other bands.   Students that have signed up to ride the bus will need to plan to meet at the band room at 4:30.  All others will need to meet at Pace HS at the stadium at 5pm.

Eastern Shore Classic - Our final marching band competition will be at Daphne HS, AL for the Eastern Shore Classic on October 21st.  This is a full competition with best in class awards, best guard awards, best percussion awards, rankings, and ratings. Tickets can be purchased at the gate.  We have not received price yet.  They do accept cash and credit.  This is your last chance to see the MB&G in competition, so come on out and show your support for our amazing students!  Here is the itinerary for that day:

WOW!! Way to go all students and parents for the Mighty Black & Gold!! The Blackwater Classic was a HUGE success from the performance all the way to all volunteers and works.  Everyone rocked it! Students, OUTSTANDING performance.  Student volunteers, way to go! Parent volunteers, THANK YOU.  This was a genuine team effort.  Everyone involved made the 2023 BC am amazing event.  What a band! Thank you to all. Our BPA board will be adding up everything and will give us a profit report soon.  Beyond that, though, I cannot say enough good things about this weekend.  Thank you thank you thank you to all.

FBA Marching MPA - This Saturday is the second marching band festival for the MB&G.  Please see the itinerary below.  We are planning to watch and support as many bands as possible on that day. This will be at Ft. Walton Beach HS and tickets are $10.  Students, please plan to wear your claw shirts on Saturday.  You may wear any MHS band or black shirt for the game on Friday. Just FYI, We will not be unloading the truck when we get back since we will need to have everything loaded up on Monday again.

Senior Night - This Friday, we will celebrate all of our band seniors.  Senior parents and family members will need to purchase tickets to the game and meet at the north end of the stadium next to band section.  The students will meet you after we march in. Seniors, make sure you have turned in your scripts to Ms. Ruiz.

WELCOME TO BANDTOBER! Over the next 3 weeks, the marching band will be entering the competition season of marching season....aka Bandtober.  For weeks and months our students have been working hard to put together the halftime show and performing at football games.  The next 3 Saturdays are band football games.  The competitions are performances just for all of the wonderful students around the region.  Please make sure you look at the schedule carefully along with all itineraries.  We will also be performing at Pace HS for the Santa Rosa County Marching Band Exhibition. Don't' blink.  Marching season will be over in a flash.  YOU GOT THIS!! We are so proud of you for pushing through!

Blackwater Classic - Parents, WE NEED YOUR HELP with the Blackwater Classic.  This is our home marching band festival on October 7th.  We need as many hands on deck for this as possible.  There are SEVERAL open spots on the parent volunteer sign-up.  This competition will not be a success without your help.  We are aware of someone signing up fake names on the list and have taken steps with Charms and with the County IT department to rectify that.  Please CLICK HERE to sign up.  If locations are full with those folks names, you can email or call Nicole Humber at 662-706-0003 [email protected] or Arlene Wires at 850-910-5636 [email protected] for more info.  I want to thank our committee for working hard on this event. Blackwater Classic Itinerary - The schedule is ready and the itinerary is set for BC.  We will have rehearsal at 9am-Noon that Saturday.  After that, students will need to be seated in our section at 3:30pm to watch and support all performing bands.  Symphonic Band will need to meet in the band room at 3:15 in uniform to get ready for the National Anthem.  We perform the show at 9pm.  The BPA will comp one meal per MHS band student that evening at the concession stand.  

Band Senior Night - Friday, October 13th is the Band & ROTC senior night.  Seniors, make sure you turned in your scripts for this by this Wednesday.  

FBA Marching MPA - Saturday, October 14th is FBA Marching MPA.  It will be held at Ft. Walton Beach HS.  Tickets are $10.  Please plan to come out and watch our students showoff just for you. All high schools from Escambia, Santa Rosa, and Okaloosa Counties will be on display.  Below is our Current itinerary so far:
