Hello All,

Please see below for all of the upcoming events for the MB&G Band.

Milton Bakery Performance - Set your alarm clocks or pull and all-nighter.  We will be giving a voluntary performance bright and early at 4am to celebrate the re-opening of a City of Milton staple.  Please wear a band shirt.  Park in the First Baptist parking lot on Hwy 90.  This is totally voluntary, however, if you signed up on the form, we will see you there.  You can still sign up by CLICKING HERE. 

Marching Band Rehearsals - Marching band rehearsals start again this week.  Just like with band camp, it is vital that all students are present for each and every rehearsal.  We will begin adding drill on Tuesday.  In general, all rehearsals are Tuesday 6pm-8:30 and Thursdays.  The Thursday rehearsals will be 6pm-9pm until the 2nd week if school. After that, Thursdays will be 4pm-7pm.  The only exception will be next week's rehearsals.  See below.

Open House/Rehearsal - Next Monday, MHS will host and open house 5:30pm-7pm.  We have adjusted the rehearsal time to allow students to attend this.  We encourage all students to attend the open house and meet your teachers along with figuring out your path to get to classes.  We will have rehearsal 7pm-9pm that night.  Please make sure you start wrapping everything up in time to be ready to go at 7pm.  We will NOT have a Tuesday rehearsal that week.

Uniform Ordering Deadline - The uniform ordering deadline is fast approaching.  Winds and Percussion bibbers and shoes deadline is August 12th. Colorguard deadline is August 1st (Tomorrow).  Please CLICK HERE for ordering details and links.  

Fair Share Payment 2 Due - Next Friday the 12th, the second fair share band fee is due.  This is a payment of $125.  If you earned this amount from the carwash fundraiser, that will suffice as payment. 

Chaperone Sign-ups for Games - The chaperone sign-ups are now available for each game.  Remember to MUST have attended one of the chaperone meeting AND be a school board approved volunteer to sign up.  You can go to each game and click the yellow helping hand symbol to sign up.  

BPA Football Game Concessions - The BPA is looking for volunteers to help in their concession stand. Please remember that volunteers need to have a current volunteer form on file. Sign up on Charms (links below)

Meat Sticking - We will have our first mass shish kabob meat sticking on Monday, August 15th. Concert Band will kick it off at 1:30 immediately followed by Symphonic Band.  All students will join after school along with any parents who would like to volunteer.  We should be done by 6pm that night.

Carwash - Great job at the carwash yesterday! We washed 248 cars and raised over $2,500 in donations. Now it is time to collect all of the pledges.  CLICK HERE to get a copy of the official letter to give to your people stating all of the info. Please collect and turn in all pledges to the money box in front of the office by Thursday.  

Band Camp - Thank you all so much for your hard work so far! Also thank you for your understanding of our shifting of plans due to weather.  This week we have three normal days 1pm-9pm. On Thursday, we will go 8am-11am in the football stadium.  Please make sure you have a ride set up each day especially with our schedule on Thursday.

Band Camp Cafe - Parents, if you are available we would love some help in the band camp cafe this week.  Please use the links below to sign up.  Note that we will only have 3 days of cafe this week since we will only go in the morning on Thursday.

BPA Concession Training - This Tuesday 7pm-9pm, the BPA will be giving a concession training. Any parent planning to work in the concessions for football games or other events needs to make plans to attend.  Please contact Arlene Wires at [email protected] or (850)910-5636 for any questions.  

Preview Show - This Thursday is the FIRST PERFORMANCE of the 2022-23 Mighty Black & Gold.  Invite anyone and everyone you would like.  We will be in the football stadium.  Festivities begin at 7pm with the march-in.  We should be done around 8pm.  This is FREE.  We will not have a meal afterwards.  If you'd like to bring your own food, that is fine.  

Summer Uniform - We will be wearing summer uniforms for performances until around September.  This uniform consists of blue jeans or blue jean shorts and the black "claw" band shirt.  Students will receive shirts this week.  You will wear this uniform this Thursday and Friday.

Freshmen Day Pep Rally - This Friday is Freshmen Day at MHS.  Freshmen students are encouraged to participate in all of the festivities that SGA will be putting on.  Please call the MHS front office for info.  Sophomores - Seniors will meet in the band room at 10am to get ready for the pep rally.  We should be done by Noon.

Parents who work the morning shift, please do not forget to stop by the band room and pick up everything.  Parents who work the evening shift need to plan to bring everything back to the band room.  We will be bouncing around from location to location to check on everyone.

Band Camp - 2022 Band Camp is upon us.  This is the most important 2 weeks to kickoff the marching season.  It is essential that all students are in attendance.  We will be putting the first parts of the show on the field as well as learning the pregame show.  Students, please start now to get ready.  Drink plenty of fluids all week and eat.  Make sure you bring your water thermos and put your name on it.  

UDB app - If you have not downloaded and signed up with the UDB app, make sure you do that before band camp begins.  CLICK HERE for directions.  

Band Camp Café - Help is needed each day during dinner time to feed students.  If you are available please consider signing up using the links below.  This will be at the softball concession stand behind the band hall.  Volunteers will need to arrive by 3pm.

First Fair Share - The first fair share fee was due this past Thursday.  This was a $50 payment.  If you did not make this, please get this in ASAP. Payments can be made online by CLICKING HERE or with cash/check.  

Chaperone Training - We will have a chaperone training this Thursday at 6:30 in the band hall.  If you plan to chaperone at any point this year, you will need to attend this meeting. If you cannot attend, we will have another meeting on August 18th at 7:15pm.  

Band Carwash Students - This Saturday is the band mass carwash.  Students will need to sign up on one of the lists in the band room.  Leadership/Seniors signed up last Thursday.  Juniors sign up Monday, Sophomores on Tuesday, and Freshmen on Wednesday.  This is required. Remember to get out and get those pledges.  100% of your pledges collected go towards your band account.  Make sure you collect these ASAP afterwards and turn it in to the band room money box.  CLICK HERE for the pledge form.  

Band Carwash Parents - Thank you to all of that have answered the call and signed up to help for the carwash.  We still have spots available.  We need at least 2 parents per shift per location.  There are 4 available spots per shift per location.  Our students need your help.  Please sign up by CLICKING HERE.  

Band Preview Show - The Band will be giving our first performance of the year on Thursday, July 21 at 7pm in the MHS Football Stadium.  Invite everyone you can to come out and show your support for our wonderful students! This is a FREE performance.

Freshmen Orientation Pep Rally - On Friday, July 22nd the marching band will be giving a pep rally to all of the Freshmen during their orientation.  All Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors will be performing.  We will meet at 10am in the band room and should be done by noon on that day.  Freshmen are encouraged to contact the MHS front office for any questions on how to participate in the orientation.
