Hello All,

All-County Concert - What a wonderful concert by all of the All-County participants! Way to go to all and way to represent music in our county.  I am very proud of all of our students that were apart of this awesome honor band.  You guys rocked! 

Marching Band Picture - Set a reminder now to bring all helmets and other uniform parts to school on Monday for the marching band picture retake.  We will begin this at 4pm and end around 4:30.  

Basketball Game - We will be performing at the Varsity basketball game this Monday.  This is not required uless you signed up to go.  Make sure you wear summer uniform.  Call time is 6pm.  We should be done by 8:30ish.  

Guard floor painting - The winterguard is needing to finish painting the performance floor.  All winterguard students need to plan to stay after pictures to do this.  Make sure you bring warm clothes on which you are not afraid to get a little paint.  
Indoor Competitions - This Saturday will be the first of many indoor competitions this semester.  This one will be at South Walton HS.  The complete itineraries for both of our groups is below.  Percussion will perform at 2:21 and the guard wuill perform at 6:05.  Tickets are $10 at the door.  I encourage everyone to come out and show your support for all of these students! 

FBA S&E - FBA S&E is right around the corner.  Ms. Julia will be coming in at various times to practice with those students that have her as your accompanist.  Please make sure that you find time to practice all Solos and Esembles.  Students will need to organize practice sessions either before school, after school, or at homes.  Please make sure you talk to me about any planned after school practices so I can plan as well.  We should have the performance schedule soon.

Hello All,

All-County - I want to invite everyone to the SRC All-County concert this Saturday at Pace Assembly of God at 2pm.  This is a FREE concert featuring the top musicians in Santa Rosa County for middle and high schools.  Come on out and share the experience of two wonderful performances.  

MHSPBPA Meeting - I encourage everyone to come out to the monthly MHSBPA Meeting this Tuesday in Room 131 of Math West.  We will be going over a lot of information with recent happenings with the band as well as upcoming opportunities with the BPA.  I will be discussing the latest event in the MHS band and a little bit of the band trip info.

Individual band pics - This Tuesday and Wednesday, Kay Brown Photography will be here to take individual band pictures.  Students were given order forms last week.  Students will need to bring their bibbers and gloves for these pics.  

Marching Band pics - We will be retaking the full marching band picture on Monday, January 29th at 4pm.  All marching band students will need to make plans to be there for this pic.  Students will need their FULL UNIFORM, including helmets.  

South Walton Indoor Competition - Next Saturday, Feb. 3rd, is the first indoor competition of the season.  This will be at South Walton HS.  Both Winterguard as well as the Indoor Percussion will be in performance. Tickets are $10 at the door.  Here is the itinerary for the Winterguard:
8-11 AM - Rehearsal
11 AM - 2 PM - Eat lunch and prepare
2 PM - Leave for South Walton HS
4 PM-ish - Arrive, watch guards
5:42 PM - Warm-up

Band Trip Cozumel Excursion - The Cozumel Excursion has been opened on your GTN Account.  You will need to log-in to your GTN account, then click the Add-on button, then click the check mark to add the excursion.  This is once again, OPTIONAL.  This will stay open until Tuesday, January 23rd.  This excursion is $80 and includes:

Mexican buffet consisting of fish, chicken, tacos, fajitas, and guacamole.

All-State Band - OUTSTANDING JOB to Josiah Hall for his part in All-State Concert Band this past week! it was wonderful to see so many students from around the state represented on stage.  Josiah represented MHS and Santa Rosa County.

All-County Band Rehearsal - This Thursday is the first of the All-County rehearsals.  This will be held at the MHS Band Room 6pm-8:30.  Attendance is required.  Any student that is not present will forfeit their chair in the band. 

Best of the West - Unfortunately the Best of the West Jazz competition event was canceled by the event coordinators.  The Jazz Band will not be performing Saturday.

Band Fees and Statements - Now that the new year and second semester is upon us, it is time to make the final payments for all band and indoor fees.  All accounts have been updated with the BPA incentive volunteer discount.  Payments can be made online by CLICKING HERE or directly to the money box.  If using checks to make separate payments to various fees, please use separate checks per fee.  We are planning another lumpia fundraiser in February to help with payments.

Best of the West - The Blackwater Beats Jazz Band will be in performance/competition next Saturday the 20th at Harborwalk Village for the Best of the West Jazz competition.  This is a FREE performance at a wonderful venue.  Students need to secure their own ride.  The performance time is TBD.  Ms. Ruiz will have an itinerary as soon as the performance time is announced.  All are invited to watch and support :-) 

MHS BPA Monthly Meeting - This Tuesday night, we will have the January BPA monthly meeting at 7pm in Math West 131. These meetings are very important as we go over info for the band as well as events that the BPA organize and attend to help support our students.  We hope to see you there.  ​

Solo & Ensemble Forms - All students interested in participating in the S&E MPA in February must turn in an S&E form by this Friday.  See attached.  To find the code of the piece or pieces you will be performing, CLICK HERE and fill out the info.  Please turn in one paper per piece. 

Band Trip Info -  GTN has placed the $90 Progresso excursion option (Blue Hole, Cenotes & Swim Adventure) on the your accounts for the band trip.  This is an OPTIONAL add-on.  All of the info is there.  You will need to select and pay for this by this Friday the 5th.  Once you log-in, click the Add-on icon and you will see this option.  We are still trying to nail down the Cozumel excursion option.  If you are having trouble logging into your account, please email GTN at [email protected]. 

Band Trip Meetings - I have scheduled tentative meetings for the trip.  All Adult participant meeting on Thursday, February 8th 6pm, All student participant meeting on Friday, February 9th at 4pm. We will have a final trip meeting scheduled in March.
