I have finally been able to put together the chaperone shirt order form for the new chaperone shirts. We were finally able to find a gold shirt with white stripes down the side similar to what they were originally. I have attached the order form for you. I would like to get these ordered by next Friday September 2nd so I have set the deadline as Thursday, September 1st. As you will see on the order form, the cost is $39 and you may put whatever you want on the 3 lines on the front of the shirt. This is the price given to us by the embroidery folks and we are not profiting from this at all. The material is the same material as the student shirts. The ladies sizes are form fitting and fit a little smaller than normal polo shirts. The Men's (Adult) size fit like a normal polo shirt. Again, both the money and the form are due to me by Thursday, September 1st. All checks need to be made payable to MHSBPA. To access the order form, CLICK HERE.

Hello All,
Already the 3rd week of school is here and we are just trucking along with show and everything else. There are just a few things to report on for this week. Students, show shirt designs are due on my desk this Tuesday. Remember, our theme this year is "Storm Life". Also remember, these designs will go on black t-shirts so please design accordingly. Parents, if you would like to purchase a parent polo shirt, please fill out the attached form and turn it in to me along with the money. These are due this Thursday. You will notice a few different rehearsal schedules this week. Winds and percussion will rehearse from 4pm-6:30 every Thursday for the rest of the season. Guard will rehearse 6pm-8:30 every Thursday on their own with the guard staff. This week, percussion has an added rehearsal on Saturday from 12pm-5pm. Percussion will also be involved in the Day of Percussion at Escambia High School next Saturday where you will learn from the masters of percussion and watch and listen to other percussion sections from around the area. More info about this will be discussed in class. Parents, if you would like to volunteer to chaperone or work in the concession stand this Friday at the game, please click the following link(s): Chaperone Side - CLICK HERE Concession Side - CLICK HERE Finally, I am not trying to create any kind of hysteria or cause concern or "preach gloom and doom" lol but we are monitoring Invest 99 that is entering the Gulf this week and will plan accordingly. The school board has been keeping all teachers up to date with the latest info and planning in the event that it turns into a Tropical Storm and heads our way. We will make decisions on rehearsals as we get more information. I know the irony in this and our show are beyond hilarious LOL! Regardless, there will be yet another hurricane hitting MHS this Friday ;-) This Week: Monday - 6pm-9:30 - Full Marching Band Rehearsal Tuesday - Show Shirt Designs Due - 6pm-9:30 - Full Marching Band Rehearsal Wednesday - 3rd Winds/Percussion Fair Share Due ($75) Thursday - Parent Chaperone Polo Shirt Orders Due - 4pm-6:30 - Marching Band Rehearsal - 6pm-8:30 - Colorguard Rehearsal Friday - HOME GAME VS LAKE AREA HIGH SCHOOL - 6pm - Call Time - 7pm - Pregame - 7:30 - Kickoff - 10:30pm - March-out/Dismiss Saturday - 12pm-5pm - Percussion Rehearsal Looking Ahead to Next Week: Mon - Labor Day, Leadership Tubing Trip Tues - Full Marching Band Rehearsal Thurs - Marching Band Rehearsal, Colorguard Rehearsal Fri - Home Game vs Ft Walton Beach Sat - Day of Percussion at Escambia HS Together We Are THE MIGHTY BLACK & GOLD!! Hello All,
I hope your first week of school went well for everybody and have gotten used to your schedules. I know it was an exhausting week, especially with a Thursday night game, but we made it through. Now we begin the Monday, Tuesday, Thursday Rehearsal and Friday football routine for the season. We will still be wearing our summer performance uniform this Friday. Remember, summer the performance uniform consists of the white polo shirts, black jean or black dress/cargo shorts (NO GYM SHORTS), and white shoes. Just to give you a heads up, when we go into full uniforms in a couple weeks, we will not allow any visible piercings or make-up. You may wear clear pegs in place of piercings on those performance nights. Make-up tends to run and get on the uniforms and can ruin them. Parents, if you would like to chaperone the game at Washing HS this Friday, you may sign up by CLICKING HERE. Remember, you must have gone to one of the chaperone trainings earlier this month as well as have a Santa Rosa County volunteer form on file. Once you sign up- Tina Beyers will contact you from there to give you details. Parents, I have finally been able to put together the chaperone shirt order form for the new chaperone shirts. Students, you've already had a fresh start with the band, now it's time for a fresh start in school. This is your chance to start with a clean slate in your classes. I encourage you to set yourself attainable goals for the year and see how many you accomplish by May. Remember, DON"T FREAK OUT! The first couple of weeks can sometimes be overwhelming, but you have already overcome so much this summer, this shouldn;t be nothin but a thang :-) If you do indeed find yourself gasping for air, we are hear. Just come talk to us. You have 200+ people that also have your back. We have our first football game this Thursday. Parents, I encourage you to sign up on charms for either the chaperone side with the band or especially at concession side. Both of these are an awesome chance to get involved with the band and gain new friends and acquaintances. By working the concession stand, you can work off $25 towards your child's fair share. I look forward to seeing you there. Hello All,
I hope everyone enjoyed a well-deserved week off after 3 fantastic performances at the preview show and a fun and hot 2 weeks of band camp! I have finally uploaded all of these performances plus the section show-offs from the day before. Sorry for the delay as I was out of town for the entire week. You can watch all of these videos to your heart's delight at our YouTube channel MiltonHSBand. While I'm talking about band camp...WOW! What an amazing group of young adults we have in our band family! We were so proud of what you accomplished during those two weeks and really enjoyed watching you shine at the preview show. We could not have made it through those two weeks without the help of all of our parents that helped either at the medical tent or in the concession stand making the lunches and dinners each day. I also want to think you as well as the BPA for the wonderful dinner you prepared for everyone the night of the preview show. Your hard work is very much appreciated! Now, to quote the movie The Ring, "Seven Days"......That's right, seven days till school starts....can you believe it? Before we get to school though, we have one busy week to get through. I want to remind everyone about the meat sticking on Tuesday at 2pm-5pm. This is required for all students. Parents, this is a BPA incentive event so if you would like to fulfill a portion of that, please join us in the cafeteria on that day. We will announce the winners of the section wars by the end of rehearsal on Monday. You may continue to bring in the supplies up until the beginning of rehearsal on Monday at 6pm. That is the cutoff. Please take note of a schedule change for Thursday. Milton High School will be hosting an openhouse campus wide from 5:30-7pm. This is a chance for you and your child to meet and greet their teachers and see where their classes will be. We want to give our students the opportunity to participate in this event and therefore have changed the rehearsal schedule to 7pm-9:30pm. Finally, students, as you receive your schedules, please look very closely and make sure you have been added to one of the band classes!! We have already had just a few mistakes that have been addressed. Remember, you must be in one of the concert band classes, percussion class, or colorguard class to be a member of the marching band. The schedule of band classes is as follows: 1st Period - Colorguard 2nd Period - Percussion 3rd Period - Panther Band 4th Period - Jazz Ensemble 5th Period - Concert Band 6th Period - Symphonic Band If you have been placed in the wrong class or you have not been placed in a band class, please contact your guidance counselor ASAP!!!! We can also help to let them know which class you were supposed to be in. Jazz students, please make sure you have Jazz Ensemble on your schedule as well as a separate band class if you are in both ensembles. This Week: Monday - 6pm-9:30pm - Full Marching Band Rehearsal Tuesday - 2pm-5pm - Meat Sticking - 6pm-9:30pm - Full Marching Band Rehearsal - 7pm - MHSBPA Monthly Meeting Thursday - 2pm-5pm - Leadership Meeting - 5:30-7pm - MHS Open House - 7pm-9:30pm - Full Marching Band Rehearsal Friday - 10am-6pm - Leadership Tubing Trip @ Adventures Unlimited Looking Ahead to Next Week: Mon - 1st Day of School, Colorguard Fair Share Due, 1st Uniform Payment Due Tues - Full Marching Band Rehearsal Thurs - HOME FOOTBALL GAME vs Murphy HS Together We Are THE MIGHTY BLACK & GOLD!! |
