​Black water Classic Help Needed - Parents, WE NEED YOUR HELP with the Blackwater Classic.  This is our home marching band festival on October 7th.  We need as many hands on deck for this as possible.  There are SEVERAL open spots on the parent volunteer sign-up.  This competition will not be a success without your help.  We are aware of someone signing up fake names on the list and have taken steps with Charms and with the County IT department to rectify that.  Please CLICK HERE to sign up.  If locations are full with those folks names, you can email or call Nicole Humber at 662-706-0003 [email protected] or Arlene Wires at 850-910-5636 [email protected] for more info.  I want to thank our committee for working hard on this event. Blackwater Classic Itinerary - The schedule is ready and the itinerary is set for BC.  We will have rehearsal at 9am-Noon that Saturday.  After that, students will need to be seated in our section at 3:30pm to watch and support all performing bands.  Symphonic Band will need to meet in the band room at 3:15 in uniform to get ready for the National Anthem.  We perform the show at 9pm.  Here is the full itinerary for that day:

Marching Band Pics - Monday, we will be taking the marching band and section pictures.  Please remember to bring your uniforms to school along with helmets.  We are should be done by 5:30, but that will depend how quickly we can get everything done.  

Sweet Season BPA Concessions Sales - This weekend, the BPA will begin selling concessions at Sweet Seasons farms in North Milton.  This is a family friendly fun event occurring each weekend until the beginning of November.  We need your help with to make these days successful.  Parents and students may sign-up.  Please be reminded that you must work your entire shift.  Below are all of the dates and sign-up links.  Please see any of our BPA board for more details.  The address for the farm is 2260 Horn Rd, Milton, FL 32570

All-State Auditions - Congratulations to all of the students that auditioned for All-State Saturday! These students worked hard and improved so much simply by putting yourselves on the line and go through this audition process.  Thank you to the student workers that helped make that a success.  A HUGE thank you to Arlene Wire and Scottie Armstrong for helping out all day with food set up and other tasks. It was a LONG and successful day.

Game this Friday - We have our second home game of the season this Friday vs Escambia HS.  Call time is 6pm.  The BPA will be serving dinner 4pm-5:30 in the BPA concessions.  They will be serving chicken bites, chips, hotdogs, and hamburgers.  This is all FREE to all band students.  I encourage you to take advantage of this.  

Show Shirt Designs - Show Shirt Designs are due this Tuesday.  Remember, designs need to include the show title (OUR WAY) and Year 2023-24.  Please put your name on the back of the design and turn it in to the directors.  We will vote on Wednesday or Thursday of this week.  

BPA Concessions at Football Game - the BPA needs help at the concession stand for the game this Friday.  If you are interested/available, please CLICK HERE to sign-up.  

Marching Band/Section Pics - We have scheduled the full marching band and section pics for 4pm in the football stadium on Monday, September 25th.  Please make sure you mark this on your calendar.  We should be done by 5:30ish.  Section leaders, please start planning your section pic. 

Sweet Seasons - The annual BPA concession sales at Sweet Seasons farms will be kicking off in a couple weeks.  This will occur every weekend starting September 30th through November 5th.  This is a fun family event and any help is appreciated.  Please click the yellow helping hand symbol on any event for Sweet Seasons on our calendar and sign-up.  

MoneyDolly FR - We kicked-off this online fundraiser a couple weeks ago.  For those that were in the band last year, you may remember we sold beef jerky and popcorn as well as earned donations with this app.  This is the same thing only this time, buyers can purchase discount and BOGO cards to local and regional businesses.  Students should have downloaded the MoneyDolly app to their phones and uploaded contacts.  From there, everything else is automatic.  We've already had several sales/donations.  Please help spread the word on this.

Thank you to all of our students and parents for all of your hard work so far going into this marching season.  Your efforts have not gone unnoticed.  We appreciate each and every one of you! Keep it.  We are almost halfway through marching season. 
 
Lumpia Pick-up - Lumpia Fundraiser pick up date is this Tuesday September 12th. All students or their parents are to pick up the Lumpia orders starting at 3:30 pm until 6 pm or after practice that night from 8:30-9:30 pm in  classroom 131 across from the band room.  Students/parents will need to check the  bags and compare with the order forms prior to taking them. If correct, they will  then sign that they received the correct amount of lumpia. All orders need to be picked up on Tuesday.
 
Home Game Friday - This Friday is finally the first home game. We will also be hosting King MS students.  If you went to King MS, please encourage all of the 8th graders to join us that night.  

BPA Dinner for Students -  The BPA will be serving FREE dinner for the students staring from 3:30 pm until 5 pm. Dinner will be served out of our concessions stand at the stadium. Students will have a choice of the following: Olive Garden Parmesan Chicken Pasta, Texas Roadhouse Rolls, Hamburger, Cheeseburger,  Nachos, Hot Dog and drinks

BPA Concessions Friday - The BPA is in need of volunteers in concessions for the first home football game . This is your first chance this year to be a part of the amazing concessions area at our home football games.  This will also count as one of the BPA incentive events for band fee discounts. Please sign up by CLICKING HERE.  

AllState Auditions - the FBA All-State auditions are Saturday at Milton HS.  We are in need of student help for various tasks on that day.  Students may receive volunteer hours for this.  Their are 2 shifts available 8am-12:30pm & 12:30pm-5pm.  I have posted a sign-up sheet on the Instrument room door.  Please consider helping out. We will be posting the All-State audition schedule on Monday. GOOD LUCK to all of our All-State auditioners.

Blackwater Classic - Blackwater Classic is quickly approaching along with the rest of Bandtober.  We are working on putting together a performance schedule of bands for that day.  This is October 7th.  Please rememeber that students will need to be at the school all day.  We will rehearse that morning, then watch/support all of the visiting bands.  We will be performing at the end of the night right before the Spirit of Carrey from William Carrey University.  I will send out an exact schedule as soon as it is available.  If you are interested in helping out for this event, please email Nicole Humber at [email protected] or Arlene Wires at [email protected] for more info.

OUTSTANDING job to all with the performance this past Friday at Niceville.  We received SEVERAL compliments from members of the Niceville band and audience members.  Good job to all.  We still have work to do, but we are on a good path.  Keep it up everyone :-)

MoneyDolly FR - This Tuesday, our MoneyDolly rep will be here at 6pm to kickoff this online fundraiser.  For those that were in the band last year, you may remember we sold beef jerky and popcorn as well as earned donations with this app.  This is the same thing only this time, buyers can purchase discount and BOGO cards to local and regional businesses.  Students will need to download the MoneyDolly app to their phones.  Our rep will explain more and answer questions tomorrow.

BPA Dinner this Friday - The BPA is once again offering dinner for all band students this Friday 3:30-4:30 in room 131.  They will be making "walking" tacos.  These are tacos in a cup.  I encourage all students to partake in this so you do not get caught up in long lines around town before call time.  

BPA Yardsale - This Saturday, the BPA will be having a yardsale at the Ollie's parking lot beginning at 8am.  If you have any items you'd like to donate, please contact Scottie Armstrong at [email protected]. All Proceeds will go back to the BPA to help supply the band with updated equipment and such.

This is our home marching band competition that is being held on Saturday, October 7th here at MHS. Good afternoon band parents,

Unloading Truck Before Students arrive after game:
When the band has away events and you are waiting in the MHS parking for us to return, you will see that our band trucks are normally the first to arrive. We ask that you please, if at all possible, help our truck drivers unload the trucks and get everything in the band room before the buses arrive. This will expedite dismissal when the buses return. In the past the trucks wouldn't get unloaded until the students returned and this added an extra 15 to 30 minutes of wait time before we could dismiss. Any help with this will be much appreciated.

Checkout procedures:
Students must have a note from a parent to give to the head chaperone (Rebecca Justice) or the band directors BEFORE we depart. At the end of the game, we will march back to the band truck and dismiss. At that point, students will need to go back to their bus with the chaperones and grab belongings. After that, they will meet Mrs. Justice at BUS 1 along with their ride and checkout with her. Yes, you will need to walk or drive across campus to meet at bus 1.  Understand, this procedure is to ensure the safety of all students.

Parking at Milton HS:
I have attached a map of our campus showing the band hall and math west buildings.  On this map, you will see areas that are circled indicating a no parking zone.  When we return from away events, it is vital to keep those areas clear so we can unload and dismiss as soon as possible.  We have to be able to back the band trucks in to their spots and pull the buses into the drop-off area.  Understand that if you park in the parking spots next to the bus pick-up/drop-off area, you may have to wait for the buses to leave before you can depart.  We will unload both trucks and get all instruments into the band room before we dismiss.  No student is to leave until the band dismisses inside the band room.
