Good afternoon band parents,
Unloading Truck Before Students arrive after game:
When the band has away events and you are waiting in the MHS parking for us to return, you will see that our band trucks are normally the first to arrive. We ask that you please, if at all possible, help our truck drivers unload the trucks and get everything in the band room before the buses arrive. This will expedite dismissal when the buses return. In the past the trucks wouldn't get unloaded until the students returned and this added an extra 15 to 30 minutes of wait time before we could dismiss. Any help with this will be much appreciated.
Checkout procedures:
Students must have a note from a parent to give to the head chaperone (Rebecca Justice) or the band directors BEFORE we depart. At the end of the game, we will march back to the band truck and dismiss. At that point, students will need to go back to their bus with the chaperones and grab belongings. After that, they will meet Mrs. Justice at BUS 1 along with their ride and checkout with her. Yes, you will need to walk or drive across campus to meet at bus 1. Understand, this procedure is to ensure the safety of all students.

I have attached a map of our campus showing the band hall and math west buildings. On this map, you will see areas that are circled indicating a no parking zone. When we return from away events, it is vital to keep those areas clear so we can unload and dismiss as soon as possible. We have to be able to back the band trucks in to their spots and pull the buses into the drop-off area. Understand that if you park in the parking spots next to the bus pick-up/drop-off area, you may have to wait for the buses to leave before you can depart. We will unload both trucks and get all instruments into the band room before we dismiss. No student is to leave until the band dismisses inside the band room.
