Well it is so good to be back with you after several weeks off and away! I hope your summer has been very restful and the relaxification was extensive! :-)
We are starting back up for the season this week with two evening rehearsals for the winds and colorguard as well as percussion camp Monday-Thursday. Hopefully everyone at this point has looked at the music at some point through the "Halftime Show" folder in charms, but if you have not, no worries, we will be hitting part 1 hard this week.
Friday we will host the annual band lock-in/lock-out starting at 7pm Friday night and ending at 7am Saturday morning. I have attached a complete itinerary for this event for you to look over. Students, please make all plans to be there as you will not want to miss a fun night of relay games/CiCi's/Dreamland skating/Oops Alley bowling/UWF Swimming! We do want all students to participate. We will go over this more on Monday. Please make sure you have turned in your medical form by Thursday if you have not done so already. The mass car wash is coming up pretty quickly on July 23rd. Students, you will sign up for a location this week during rehearsal. We will sign up by seniority! Parents, I sent you and email with a direct link to sign up to take lead at one of the locations earlier this week. There are still plenty of spots available for you to help at a location. Remember, if you sign up for the morning shift, you are in charge of getting equipment for the school to your spot. The afternoon shift is responsible to get the equipment back to school. Finally, Band Camp is just around the corner!! Did you hear me, BAND CAMP!! Those two weeks are the most important weeks of the marching season and attendance is absolutely REQUIRED! Please start preparing yourself by getting outside and getting acquainted with our friend, The Sun :-) Make sure you get appropriate supplies to keep yourself cool and hydrated for those two weeks. Students, we will be trying something new this year with setting drill. EVERYONE will get coordinate sheets with your drill spot field coordinates. Leadership will still get drill charts. With this addition, you will need something that is sweatproof to carry this in. A great idea for a carrier is one of those traveling money holders you wear around your neck. We have a very limited amount that we can hand out but it will be first-come-first serve. I will go over this further with the students on Monday as well.
