Lots of information below. I've tried to give you as much heads up on everything until summer break as I can. Please make sure you are keeping an eye on our calendar for all of the up to date info.
Spring Concert - Great job to all for an outstanding final concert! It is always such a joy to see our students showoff their talents to the world in such an extraordinary way. I will be posting the video to our YouTube page soon.
Leadership Interviews - All students that signed up for interview on Monday, please make sure you double check the time on the list in front of the office.
Band Captain and Guard Captain videos - If you have not viewed the Band Captain speeches video as well as the Guard Captain solo performance video, please do so BEFORE Wednesday. CLICK HERE for band captain. CLICK HERE for guard captain.
Band Day - On Tuesday, we will welcome all of our potential new members of the MB&G. Students will need to wear summer uniforms (Band shirt and blue jeans). All students will need to report to the band room at 1:30 to grab your marching and concert instruments then go to the auditorium. We will practice what we can before the new students arrive. Band day will officially kickoff at 3pm. Pizza and drinks will be served around 4:30ish over at the band room. We should be wrapping up the event around 6:30. Parents, if you are available to help serve the food and drinks that day, please sign up by CLICKING HERE.
Guard Auditions - The guard audition camp is this Tuesday though Thursday 6pm-8:30. Anyone interested in joining the MHS Colorguard for the 2023-24 year MUST attend these camps.
MHSBPA Monthly Meeting - This Tuesday is also the May meeting for the BPA. I highly encourage all parents to attend to get all of the info for everything coming up and have any questions answered.
Uniforms and Instruments - All uniforms and school-owned instruments must be returned by Wednesday of this week. Please make sure everything is cleaned and in working order before returned. Any damaged item will be billed to the student assigned to the uniform and/or instrument.
Band Banquet - This Saturday, we will celebrate all of our students and parent volunteers at the Charles "Bud" Bell Band Banquet in the Gym. Festivities will begin at 5pm with social time for students as well as guests who have tickets. Food will also be available during this time. 7pm-9pm will be the awards portion and is open to everyone with or without tickets. We invite everyone out to celebrate another year of accomplishments with the MB&G.
Percussion Camp - All students interested in playing percussion during 2023-24 must attend the percussion audition camp next Wednesday through Friday. Students will be placed on the appropriate marching band instruments and will also prepare students for the year ahead.
Lockers Cleaned - Just a heads up that all lockers must be cleaned out by Monday, May 15th. This is the Monday after the banquet. Students will be reissued lockers at the rehearsal later that day.
Step-off Rehearsal - The first rehearsal of the 2023-24 marching band will take place on Monday, May 15th 6pm-8:30 in the Band Hall. This is a required rehearsal for all returning and new students. We will issue lockers, instruments, and music during this time.
Rookie Camp - Rookie camp will be in the evenings during the last week of school. This is May 22nd, 24th, 25th 4pm-7pm and May 26th 4pm-8pm. All new members and leadership are required to attend. All returning members are invited as well. It really helps our newest members when returning members attend and it also is a great time to "beef up" on technique for the new year.
Wind Auditions - All Wind auditions are due on FlipGrid by Saturday, May 27th. Please CLICK HERE for all of the details. Do not wait until the day they are due before you submit. Jazz Auditions will be out soon.
