Congratulations Mighty Black & Gold! You survived Homecoming 2018! You worked so incredibly hard this week and we are so proud of you for all that you did! Thank you students and parents for getting through the week with class and pride!

We are desperately in need of help at the upcoming Blackwater Classic marching band festival at Milton HS.  We still have quite a few spots open in the concessions area.  We are the only ones selling concessions at this event and need as many people as possible to help.  We also have plenty of spots available for the other parent volunteer areas.  Please click the links below to sign-up:

We will have a very important BPA meeting this Tuesday at 7pm in the cafeteria.  This will also be a meat sticking for the adults during the meeting.  We will be talking mainly about the Blackwater Classic and giving info out about that.  

For your planning purposes, here is the working itinerary for students for the Blackwater Classic:

9am-11am - Practice
11am-3pm - Lunch/Final Preparations for Festival
2:30 - Symphonic Band Meet in Full Uniform for National Anthem
3pm - All Bands meet in stadium assigned seating (Wear Show Shirts)/Symphonic Band perform National Anthem
3:15-7:45 - Watch bands and eat at concessions (Bring Money)
7:45 - After Navarre performance, meet in band room and get dressed in full uniform.
8:30-9pm - Warm-up
9:10pm - Perform
9:30 - Watch The USM Pride of Mississippi
9:55-10:30 - Award Ceremony
11pm - Dismiss

Hello All,

Well after a very weird week with lots of weather oddities, we made it through Friday night unfazed.  I am very proud of what you did on the field after not having a single rehearsal over the week.  Parents I want to thank you for all of those that volunteered at the concessions or chaperoning as well.  Your hard work definitely does not go unnoticed! 

This week is one of the busiest weeks for the Mighty Black & Gold! Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to Homecoming Week!! You will see the schedule below all of the performances and rehearsals that we will be giving throughout the week.  Please make sure you wear the appropriate uniform for each day and you are up to date on all of your class work.

The Game this Friday will be very busy with Homecoming events.  On top of that, we will be honored with hosting the Hobbs MS Band! We will also be hosting our Alumni during the 2nd half.  Get ready for a fabulous and fun night!!

This week, we will also have our first meat sticking of the year.  This will take place on Wednesday AFTER SCHOOL at 1pm.  Wednesday is also a half-day so we will get a little earlier start than normal.  All students must attend this meat sticking.  Remember, the sell of these shishkabobs has helped to buy 2 band trucks, uniforms, and new instruments over the years, so please make all efforts to attend.

We are also making preparations for the Blackwater Classic on October 6th.  We will talk extensively at the BPA meeting next Tuesday.  You can help now by signing up to bring items to our world famous hospitality room!! Please CLICK HERE to sign-up to bring various items to the room.  The hospitality room is kinda like a break room for the judges as well as the various band staffs we will host that day.  

Parents, please be aware that the September BPA Meeting has been rescheduled to Tuesday, September 18th at 7pm due to Escapades this Tuesday.

Finally, I have placed the order for the parent and others show shirts.  I am hoping these will be delivered this week.  Remember these are going to be cotton NOT dry-fit.

Hello All,

Another OUTSTANDING job at the Choctaw game to all! I continue to be amazed at the progress our students are making with the show as well as the spirit they bring to the games in the stands! Keep it up everyone.  Soon we will have our complete show on the field to add that extra element to everything.

A few uniform updates.  First, to the colorguard.  We have been in constant contact with Algy, the uniform company making your uniforms.  They are assuring us that the uniforms that were ordered in June are in production and are due to be completed and shipped hopefully this week.  Keep your fingers crossed! The helmets for the winds and percussion have also obviously been delayed.  These were also ordered at the beginning of June.  They were having trouble with the gold paint of the helmets flaking off, so they have had to completely strip all of the helmets and repaint all 60 of them.  We still have no word on when these will ship, but will keep you updated.

This week, we will be keeping an eye on tropical storm Gordon.  Please make sure you pay attention to news and weather broadcasts for updates on school closings.  As of right now, we are planning for business as usual with rehearsals, the meat sticking, and school.  

We do have our first meat sticking this Wednesday, weather permitting.  All students are to stay and help out with this event.  We will begin 5th period with concert band.  The full band will join in after school.  We are scheduled to go till 6pm, but there is a chance that we will be done earlier.
