Hello All,
AND.....WE.....ARE....BACK!!!!! Welcome to the 2019-20 school year everyone! Hold on tight. This ride is going to go fast! There are only a couple things I would like to bring to your attention this week. First of all, if you did not sign up for the new marching band remind classes, please CLICK HERE and follow the directions on the appropriate graduating class description. We will be deleting the other big marching band group. You will probably receive a notification that you were removed from that group. Do not worry. You will still remain in the other marching band group as long as you signed up for it. Please look at the rehearsal schedule closely. Take special note that we will begin Monday AFTERNOON rehearsals next Monday 4pm-7pm. This is Monday, August 19. We will have Monday rehearsals until the week after the Blackwater Classic. I have attached a copy of the attendance policy for the Milton High School Band. Please make sure you look it over and understand the requirements. All rehearsals and performances are required. To keep things simple for you, just show up. Easy as that. I have gone ahead and put the itinerary for every football game on each football event on the calendar for your planning purposes. These may be subject to change. Finally, I want to wish everyone the best of luck as we begin the new school year. Just like at the beginning of the summer when we started with a "clean slate," the same applies for the first day of school. You have the chance to start fresh from scratch. I challenge you to seize this opportunity. Make goals for yourself for this new year and hold yourself accountable for reaching those goals. Don't be afraid to go down that path. You never know, what that road has in store fore you. Hopefully when you look back on these decisions you make, you will realize that this is "When the Heart Ignites the Soul". ;-) Have an outstanding first day and week! Hello all,
7 DAYS AND COUNTING TILL THE 2019-20 SCHOOL YEAR BEGINS!! Get ready, we are just one week away from the first day of school. Time to get out and do that last minute tax-free shopping this week and rest up :-) We will start back on our normal weekly schedule for marching season this week. Attendance at all rehearsals and performances is REQUIRED as stated in the handbook found HERE. Remember, if there is a legitimate reason to miss a rehearsal or performance, the student is responsible for informing Mr. Weaver or Mr. Schultz BEFORE the absence and must submit an absence form to Mr. Schultz the day the student returns. This is only for after school rehearsals NOT in school attendance. In school attendance must be taken up with the front office. As well, if students are absent, they must make up for missing by submitting a recording or video of them practicing to the band directors. We will be talking about this aspect in detail on Monday. Make sure you are aware that the Monday rehearsals will change to 4pm-7pm on August 19th until the first week of October. After that week in October, we will no longer have Monday rehearsals for marching band. Please note that the MHS open house is this Thursday from 5:30-7pm. We have adjusted the rehearsal time so everyone can attend. We will begin rehearsal at 7pm and end at 9:30. Students, we have new drill for this week! Please open your UDBapp and download the drill for Zombie. We will also most likely be learning pregame on Thursday using paper coordinate sheets. The BPA (and our students) need your help this Saturday at the city of Milton Waterfest event in downtown Milton. They will have the concessions trailer out in force in need you to help run it. Please find the yellow helping hand icon on the event on the calendar and sign up. All help is welcome! Finally, the Remind texting service has changed some of the policies and we are going to have to change some things with this as well. Just fyi, we can no longer have more than 150 people per class and no more than 10 classes. We are going to be pulling everyone out of the marching band texting group and splitting that group into 4 different sub groups representing each graduating glass. i.e. 2020, 2021...You will need to sign up for your particular class. We will send the same information to all class members of the marching band. The new classes are below. Please sign up ASAP!: Text the same number to each class: 81010 or (850)637-8697 Marching Band Seniors message - @marchsen Marching Band Juniors message - @marchjuni Marching Band Sophomores message - @marchsoph Marching Band Freshmen message - @marchfresh You also download the sign-up info on our Remind page HERE.
