Welcome back! I hope everyone has enjoyed a well-deserved week off. I want to first say congratulations on a very successful band camp!! All of our students worked extremely hard for those 2 weeks and presented one of the best preview shows to date. Thank you to all of our amazing students, wonderful parents, and staff for doing your part to get us through those two weeks. If you missed the preview show, you can watch all three runs as well as the march-in on our YouTube channel by clicking HERE.
This week we get to start back and get back to work on our show as well as prepare for the start of school. I do want to inform everyone that unfortunately, the construction on the track is still yet to be completed. Because of this, none of the groups that use that field are able to use it until the construction crew finishes. We have been told that it could take another 2 weeks, but with certain factors, we shall see. Until then, we will be practicing on the MHS Baseball field for the time being. I know this will be weird, but at least it is back on campus and we will not have to travel up the road with all of the equipment. Just so you know, we cannot use the community center because of little league sports starting back up. Also, the football team is having to travel to East Milton to hold their practices. None of the groups are allowed to practice in the football stadium so the grass can stay as alive as possible for all of the groups that use that for the year. We will still do what the Mighty Black & Gold always does and find the Courage to push through any obstacles that get in our way. This is the whole theme to our show this year after all :-)
Some good news, the storage shed that we have desperately needed was delivered last week. Our leadership team will be meeting tomorrow at 3pm to "debandcamp" the band hall as well as move stuff to the shed. This should return to us much needed rehearsal space for our students in the band room.
Our first game is the first Friday of school. This is just a preseason kickoff game, but the Marching band will still be performing. Call time for this is 6pm with kickoff at 7:30. Uniform will be the summer uniform just like at the preview show. Please make sure you have all of the appropriate clothes. Just so you know I plan to have us go into full uniforms by the first game in September. I will be posting the itinerary for each game on the charms events next week.
Parents, you can go on our calendar now and sign-up to volunteer for each football game this year now. Just click on the little hand on under each event and sign up. I want to remind you that the final chaperone meeting is next Tuesday after the BPA meeting. If you plan to chaperone at any even this year and you did not attend the first chaperone meeting, you must attend this meeting. We need concessions help as well. The concessions side are BPA incentive opportunities.
That is all for now. I hope everyone has a pronominal week!
