Happy Easter to everyone!
This week is a very busy week in the Mighty Black & Gold! First, the indoor groups will be competing in the final competition of the year this Saturday. The Gulf Coast Guard & Percussion Circuit Champions ships will be held at the Mitchell Center on the campus of the University of South Alabama. All of the groups in our circuit will be in performance. Our groups' performance times are below. If you haven't seen these students in competition yet, you need to come out and watch. It is amazing what these students have done this season and I know that these performances will be the absolute best of the year!
Next, the Blackwater Beats Jazz Band will be performing in the gazebo in Seville Square in Pensacola for the 2018 Pensacola Jazz Fest this Sunday at 11:00 AM. This is a free concert! Bring a chair and come out and listen to some great jazz music performed by even greater students.
Finally, this week, all of the concert bands will be back to their normal rehearsals. Concert band trumpets, Altos, and Horns will need to take note of your sectional days and times this week as well. On top of that, all concert band winds will begin their 12 major scales pass-offs this Wednesday through Friday.
After this week, there are several items we need your help with. First, the Jazz Band will have a standalone jazz concert at the Imogene Theater on Thursday, April 12th at 6:30. Tickets are $5 at the door. I have attached the flyer for this concert to post as you will. Please come out and enjoy a night of Jazz. I promise you will recognize several of these tunes. This is a big fundraiser for the jazz band program.
Finally, the crawfish festival is just 2 weeks from this Saturday and there are still several openings to help at this event. PLEASE HELP! Everyone can help in some way. please click the link below and sign-up. If you have any questions, please ask. CLICK HERE TO SIGN-UP.
If you have pictures from the cruise, please don't forget to upload them to the group travel website. The deadline was extended to Tuesday. Just CLICK HERE for info on how to submit the pics.
That is all for now. I hope everyone has an extraordinary week!
