Welcome Back and welcome to the home-stretch of the school year! Buckle up, it's gonna be a bumpy ride! But seriously, there is a lot going on the in the MB&G as we begin to closeout this year and start next year. Please make sure you read through everything in the calendar and monthly updates. I hope everyone enjoyed your Spring Break and indeed was able to take a break from everything.
MHSBPA Meeting and Nominations - We will have our monthly meeting this Tuesday for the BPA. This will take place in room 131 of Math West. We are taking nominations for each position for the BPA Board for next year. These positions are President, First Vice President, Second Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, as well as two Trustee positions. You can read descriptions and responsibilities for each position on the BPA By-Laws by CLICKING HERE. Nominations can be emailed to me or submitted on paper to me. Please make sure you put the name of the person being nominated and position(s) they in which they are nominated. Nominations will be accepted right up to the vote which will take place at the monthly meeting in April.
FBA State S&E and Jazz MPA - This Saturday, is the FBA State S&E and Jazz MPA. This will take place at Lincoln HS in Tallahassee. I have attached all performance times. The Jazz Band will perform at 11am. Below, is a detailed itinerary. Students may drive themselves if they wish. We will be renting two 15 passenger vans leaving MHS at 6am. One of the vans will be for all IP students not participating in the S&E portion to return early so they can participate in the IP competition at Escambia HS that evening. The other van will remain at Lincoln HS until the last event has been performed. I will compile a list on Tuesday of students that are riding or driving. Ms. Hall will be at the school on Tuesday through Friday to practice with all S&E students.
Escambia Indoor Show - The Winterguard and IP will be in performance at Escambia HS this Saturday. This is the last normal season show before Circuit Championships which is on April 1st. Ms. Byrd and Chandler will have the complete itinerary for students this week. Performance times are below. Tickets are $10 at the door.
Band Trip - Thank you to everyone who went on the band trip for making it a fun and successful event. Many stories and memories were made. We received a ton of compliments about the parade in Magic Kingdom. I know we were all extremely tired on that bus ride home after running 3 days of marathons. I will be sending a text to the trip remind group today with a link in which you can upload all photos and videos from the trip. We will use some of these pics and vids for the end of the year video.
Future Band Trip - As a reminder, we are in the process of planning a trip to Washington DC and New York City during Spring Break of 2024. Right now, the estimate is $1,600 minus transportation. We are still in the negotiation stage of this so sit tight. We will give updates as we narrow everything down.
